I made multiple attempts to contact LifeSmart and ran into one dead end after another. In steps Jennifer Smith and within a few days I learn that LifeSmart was purchased by a company that was subsequently purchased by another company. Fast forward a few days and Jennifer not only orders a new cover for me, but she also arranges for the cover to be shipped from the mainland to Maui and then to my home. We looked at Custom Aquarium setups and decided to go with Red Sea tanks with a medium sized one for home and a large one in the office. Faraz's crew handled the full delivery and installation. This thing weighs over 500 pounds before filling with any water and they took the time to set it up right and make sure it was level on the floor. They did some custom plumbing work so that one pump can handle the return and reactor. They also installed a RO/DI system in the office so I don't need to lug water around all of the time. We use them for livestock and maintenance. They can handle 100% of your tank or can work with you as a partner. In the office, we have them come for service every 2 weeks and they give us tasks to complete on the weeks they aren't here. The tanks have never looked better. Faraz has tried (unsuccessfully) to teach me patience and has proven to be right with his advice. This week he saved my home tank from a devastating crash. I was thinking I wanted to make some changes to the aquascape and was about to pull out a few rocks in favor of some others I had at home. Fortunately I called Faraz first and he suggested that I perform a few tests first. Turns out those rocks would have been lethal. The ammonia readings were off the chart and if those rocks went in the tank poor Nemo would have been swimming with the fishees... What really makes these guys deserve a top rating is their responsiveness. Faraz is great at responding to texts and emails. I'm trying to learn and grow in this cool hobby and am glad to have Faraz to turn to.

Unfortunately Josh at Ohana was just not up to the standard we expected for pool maintenance…read more Firstly he blocked calls so you could only contact him via text which he often ignored. He expects clients to spend money on upgrading equipment but it isn't installed properly, or even required. Our pool house has been awash with obvious pipe leaks even though I texted and pointed it out in person to the maintenance guys it was left unrepaired. The pool cleaner wasn't working, yet it was repaired in minutes by another pool company. There was an obvious pool leak and he refused to turn off the auto fill which caused a $2K water bill!! The problems just continued and Josh ignored them. When we called him on it he charged us $1500 in unwanted chemicals!! As a property manager I found him hard to deal with, as did the owner of the pool. Now that we have replaced him 2 pool companies have come out to inspect the pool setup and neither can figure out what Josh was doing, why he added extra pumps when they weren't needed, and why everything is leaking! A pipe came off in one guy's hand where it had been leaking all over the pool house floor for weeks. Obviously I would not recommend Ohana Pool & Spa.

Instead we were billed about $1000 for 3 weeks of services and chemicals. We later learned that some of the chemicals used were not actually necessary. He also told us that each hose link was going to be $10 but he charged us $15 per link x10 which is a 50% mark up! He was nice and seemed to know what he was doing but overcharging people and giving misinformation won't keep clients in the long run. Our pool turned green again shortly after he stopped. We are much happier with our new pool service company as they seem honest and committed and do the job within budget. We also found out we didn't need a new filter or new sand after all!
