Aqua Vida has recently had many upgrades to the store. Besides what they already carry that's a large selection of ethnic foods now available and two extra aisles and increased items. Here's the smallest of things that they carry: Bulk herb selection, dried goods that include chips, greens, sauces, honey, seasoning, canned goods, fresh items, local items, frozen selection that includes ice cream, vegan foods, local foods, other foods, drinks, snacks, large water, refill station, and more. The staff are always super kind and very helpful. We love visiting here and supporting this place. Take a visit and spread the word. read more

I buy a few great things here that I don't find at other places so that's why I'll leave a couple stars. I called in the other day to ask what brand their bitcoin machine is and the employee very rudely said "I'm not going to check." I guess it would have been too inconvenient to turn your head around for 2 seconds to let me know. Ok no problem. Don't do your job of customer service. read more

I came here looking for sweet violet but they didn't have it (or don't carry it). Alex was nice enough to call someone from the back of the store to check their inventory. I just call to ask if they had a supplement that my doctor recommended. The person that answered the phone went to look. when he came back said the product name and how it came. This is a unique little store with some hidden vegan gems like BeLeaf and Jolly Llama. If you're vegan, vegetarian or love good food and have gone to all the larger stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Natural Grocers then you need to stop here for something new. It's a very small, quiet, clean store with incense, bulk, clothing, toiletries, and household goods. It does lean a bit pricier but smaller brands and local stores need to be supported! I also tried their Indian food in their little restaurant in the back. Delicious and fresh! GO! This is a must visit whether you're local visiting. read more

YaY for the NEW AQUA VITA CAFE. Everything is served in disposable dishes cups. Menu changes daily. Vegan, Vegetarian and gluten free options. It's $10 for a 4 item mixed plate with rice. The portion size was Okay, not great. I had the best Pakoras ever here. I had black eyed pea's which were really good, garbanzos yum, mushroom tasty but way too hot temp - burnt my tongue (you know how that sucks and it hurts two days later) and the potato carrot dish that was lacking, needed flavor, it was just like eating boiled veggies: bland and mushy. The dining area is just like six tables in a corner of the store, it's sort of noisy, a ice maker or refrigerator freezer is running loud, but it's still a great place to stop in and grab a healthy bite. I used to get my water exclusively at Aqua vita. While I was there I would get fresh organic produce. Something happened and now they don't have produce. Npw when I go in, I am often the only on in there. Recently found out that they do not TARE the bag used for purchase of herbs. I would be glad to pay a flat rate for the bag for my herbs. But if I want an herb they have put aside for it's high price, and they tell me they DONT TARE the bag (remove the weight of the bag before weighing what is inside it), then I am paying for what ever the herb costs FOR THE BAG, that means the bag costs more when the item inside it costs more. So my first bag herb at $1.50 the bag is 15 cents, but the next item, at 15.00 the bag costs $1.50. They were not kind about it and offered for me to not get the item, for which I came in, with no acknowledgment of the issue. So they lost me as a customer, and my entire purchase, as I dont think it is an ethical way to do business. Nor is it good customer service. Simply decide what you want to charge for the bag. I am not shopping there any more. there are other stores to get water, and incense, and herbs. And especially, good customer service. Oh, and produce. so, yeah. Big thumbs down. read more

I visit Aqua Vita as an herb supply shop. They've got groceries and water and "natural living accessories", but I only buy their herbs, so that is the basis of my review. The inventory of bulk medicinal herbs is large, chances are they have the herb you're looking for. They also carry a selection of teas and culinary herbs. The bulk tinctures provide a great convenience. Bring your own bottle and fill up at a fraction of the cost of buying a tincture at Sunflower or Whole Foods. Plus, you can mix your own formula. There is no herbalist on staff, at least not that I've encountered. Initially I thought to take away a star for this. But honest reflection made me realize I like it this way. No herbal authority stands between you and the plant you want to use for whatever you've decided to use it -- and that's a good thing. Once your medicine is made, what to house it in? Aqua Vita carries a small selection of containers such as amber bottles, aluminum tins, plastic bottles, and iron-shut tea bags all at fair prices. read more

I stopped into Aqua Vita with my mother to purchase some specific herbs to make teas. We ended up picking up a few other items as well. I was happy with the selection and the prices, although a few days later we were in Sunflower Market and found the Keifer probiotic smoothie we had purchased at Aqua Vita for a full dollar less. This is to be expected though. The only thing I feel Aqua Vita can improve on is the customer service. Perhaps I am a bit spoiled, I live in Las Vegas now and the ladies that work at the store I buy herbs from there are so eager to assist that I have grown accustomed to people asking me if I have any questions or need any help. At Aqua Vita we couldn't get anyone to make eye contact with us until it was time to pay. Also, parking can be a little tricky. read more

One of my favorite places to shop for groceries in Tucson! Aqua Vita features a wide variety of organic and vegan products along side many bulk herbs and spices. They not only offer your normal big box organic store items but also provide many local brands of kombucha, gluten-free baked goods, and many fresh foods(burritos, salads, sandwiches) as well. One of the signature products offered is their steam distilled water. Using many methods of filtering and cleansing they product one of the smoothest and purest tasting waters I've ever had. I highly suggest it's use in coffees and teas, you will absolutely taste the difference. Now I will say the prices can be a tad high on some products, but the great customer service makes up for that ten fold, so don't let that scare you away! If you're into health foods you should be into Aqua Vita. It is a locally owned and operated health foods store that has the best stock of local and organic produce I have seen in Tucson. Any week I miss the St. Phillips plaza Farmers market you can be sure to catch me at Aqua Vita picking up the Goat Dairy and Raw Milk from grassfed cows that I missed out on. They are the only people in Tucson I know of to carry Raw Cows Milk. They also have some amazing Raw Vegan deserts, next time you are planning on visiting whole foods why not try out Aqua Vita instead and support local business owners and farmers. read more

I am definitely a fan of Aqua Vita! I stopped in here for sprouting seeds, found some, and also left with the potential to fulfill several of my pinterest goals! Although not a large store, Aqua Vita has a smattering of goods for most of your healthy/organic/specialized diet needs. I particularly like this store for the extensive bulk herbs section. Here, you'll find herbs, spices, tintctures, DIY beauty, tea etc. all priced by the ounce. The filing station is large enough to let you process more than a few jars at a time and the cashier will kindly tare-out any containers you bring from home before you place products in them. If you've forgotten jars/bottles etc., they not only have the standard plastic bags, but amber glass jars, plastic bottles and screw top jars for purchase at a modest price. I mainly go to the the above section when I visit, but the other reviewers have covered much of what I haven't. Produce is a little on the spendy side for me to purchase it here, but everything else in bulk has really surprised me with its affordability. What a unique place in the middle of Tucson. I had no idea Aqua Vita existed until I started on a quest to find ingredients for making homemade root beer. After visits to the Co-op and Tucson Herb Store on 4th Ave, I was told that Aqua Vita may have what I need. Holy Smokes! They have just about any kind of weird or different root/herb/etc that you may be looking for. It's a very efficient, do-it-yourself kind of operation and I walked out of the store with a small bag of sassafras bark that cost me all of $0.67. Aqua Vita is much more than just the herbs, etc though. It's also a whole foods type shop with a variety of organic and natural foods, things that you won't see at your typical big grocery store. read more

One of the only 2 places in town (that I know of) that sells tofu from Sacramento Tofu Company. This is by far the best tofu I have bought. It's sooo good, and has made my carnivore boyfriend like tofu. When I first started buying the stuff, he would ask me to make tofu stir-frys for him. It's good stuff and nothing at all like the nasty pre-packaged tofu. The tofu is kept in a little water-filled bin in the fridge and is sold by the pound. It keeps really well at home as long as it's kept in clean water. The water should be switched out often, preferably daily. Other goods here include raw milk (cow and goat) and a lot of tasty looking prepared foods. Aqua Vita is not as nice-looking as the Co-Op on 4th but it serves its purpose. I'm glad to see it up and running after the fire. read more

Aqua Vita is closer to my house than the Co-op, but I always prefer going to the Co-op on 4th Avenue. The produce at the Co-op is way better than at Aqua Vita, and the Co-op has much cheaper prices, even though they are both independent stores (not chain stores like Wild Oats). Aqua Vita does have the best water in town though, so I shop at least once a month to fill all my 5 gallon jugs. They have an extensive filtration system for their bulk water (and a high price to match, unfortunately). read more

I stopped shopping there several years ago. Racist & totally disrespectful owner who is an arrogant young man who obviously knows nothing about customer service or food quality. I bought food on more than one occasion to eat for a quick lunch, both times was spoiled. The disrespect he shows to his father who works as a cashier is very disturbing; publicly yelling at the kindly older gentleman with a turban. I am HORRIFIED that they opened a restaurant inside the grocery store and would NEVER eat anything made or served there for so many reasons. If you STILL consider eating there, check out the bathroom first. I haven't been there for awhile, but unless they've made MAJOR changes, that will be the deal breaker. Because of the BAD attitude and rudeness of the owner, I also now have my delicious, clean and trustworthy water delivered from Sparkletts & want nothing to do with Aqua Vita. Beware. read more
