This place is great...not only the place, but the people as well! You might drive right by it on Bridge Street in Salem...it's in an unobtrusive brick building that it shares with Concept Signs...but don't let the outside fool you. Inside, it's bright, airy and adorable! The hairdressers are friendly, and they're certified in the Rejuvenol Brazilian Keratin Treatment system. I go to Melissa, and will never go to anyone else. It might sound corny, but Rejuvenol is life-changing...but only if it's done right.
I'm in my 50's and between age and coloring, my hair has gotten pretty dry and frizzy over the years. In the summer, I couldn't wear my hair down because no matter how often I flat-ironed or what "nourishing" or "no-frizz" products I used, I looked terrible. In addition my hair grows fast, and because my natural color is dark, my gray roots would make a silver skunk stripe down the middle of my head in less than 3 weeks. At my previous salon, I was spending a fortune on products, but my hair always looked terrible. Then I found Melissa. McDermott.
I wanted to change my color to a lighter shade in order to gain a few more weeks in between colorings, but didn't want to risk more hair damage by having foils done. Melissa worked with me to gradually reach my goal without damaging my hair.
First, she became trained in the Rejuvenol Brazilian Keratin Treatment process, which is actually GOOD for your hair because it basically replaces the natural keratin and collagen that's lost by time and processing and fuses the cuticle closed. Because Melissa took the time to do it right, my hair now feels the way it did when I as a teenager--soft, shiny and frizz-free, even in moist and humid weather!
Next, Melissa worked on my second goal--to increase the time I could go between root colorings. Using a lighter shade on my roots and placing foils strategically, Melissa gradually lightened my hair without damaging it. The result is that my hair looks wonderful, takes less time to maintain, and I can go an extra 2 weeks between root touch-ups. And other people have noticed just how great it looks now!
Rejuvenol is a great process, but if it's not done correctly, it either won't work or won't last. You need to go to a place where the people have received the training and use the right products, and you need to follow instructions and use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.
Having a stylist who understands what her customer wants, has the knowledge to do it, and performs it in friendly, comfortable surroundings is just about as good as it gets! Thank you, Melissa and Aqua Hair Salon! read more
