Other dentists have been a disaster. Dr. Walters had solutions to all of my problems and the training and technology to make it happen. When I needed to get cavities replaced he knew to shrink the nerve first before putting on a permanent filling. My previous dentist did not and I ended up with a root canal. Dr Walters had a simple modern appliance for my teeth grinding, my previous dentists wanted to sell me a complicated 'old' style appliance. As a result of all of my experience with Dr. Walters, he's the only dentist I've ever trusted 100%.

I suppose this fact alone speaks volumes about the quality of care. I honestly love the team at Metropolitan Dental. From my perspective, there are three elements that set them apart. Chairside manner. I have always felt safe, comfortable and included in what was happening to me. The hygenists and Dr. Walters himself always explains what they are doing and why. I have always felt like a participant in what was happening rather than simply an open mouth having things done to it. Gentle Hands. Not sure how else to term it but Dr. Walters and each of the hygenists I had the pleasure to have work on my teeth, were exceptionally gentle with how they handled the various instruments both in and around my mouth. Not once do I recall having winced or experienced so much as a twinge of pain. Warm Familiar Welcome. This one applies to all - from Grace and the rest of the team in office management and adminstration, the hygenists, right to Dr. Walters (Dr. B) himself. I have always felt warmly welcomed. I have always felt recognized. And it astonishes me to no end how the team at Metropolitan Dental remembers details about my life discussed during a prior visit. I have never understood why so many of my friends hated going to the dentist - that is until I had to see a new dentist in TO recently. The experience was eye opening....as in painful and rough!! After reviewing dozens of dental clinics on-line, I chose Vimy Bridge Dental (Barrhaven) as my first choice for having teeth cleaning and all my dental work done. I chose Vimy Bridge Dental, simply due to the numerous glowing reviews found on their website. Now I believe that these reviews are either fake or they don't allow less than flattering reviews on their website. Even though I provided all of my dental insurance plan information well in advance to the front desk, my account wasn't set up and ready during my first appointment. After my initial appointment, I had to go back home and give the staff my insurance information a second time. While this dental clinic wasn't off to a good start, I gave them another chance. On my second visit Dr. Aghasi refused to do some dental work for me saying that it wasn't necessary. Dr. Aghasi's language was coarse as he refused to explain why he wouldn't do the work that I had requested. During my next visit, six months later, I found out from staff that Dr. Aghasi isn't trained to do the dental work that I needed done. My hygienist didn't give me a toothbrush after my teeth cleaning, saying that they had run out. I found Vimy Bridge Dental staff to be very unorganized and treated me just like I was a number. Therefore, because of my poor (unacceptable) experiences, I can't recommend this clinic to anyone.

Then, my daughter started losing teeth faster than the goon on your local hockey team. She also started experiencing pain in her gums. So, we asked around and were told by local parents about Dr. Kevin Rattray. Sure, there are lots of dentists in Ottawa. But, were any taking new patients? Luckily, Dr. Rattray was. I was able to get an appointment right away. I took my daughter in and turns out she had an abcess. It was a complicated procedure involving taking moulds, injections, x-rays, a tooth being pulled and the insertion of a metal space-holding device. I felt a little nervous on behalf of my little seven-year-old. But, Dr. Rattray and his nurse were very good with her and helped her through the ordeal with humour and caring. I only wish they had a full-time receptionist to answer calls. Every time I call, I end up leaving a voice mail and then play phone tag trying to get back in touch with the office. Otherwise, it is a pretty good dentist office to go if you have kids.

Dr Lin is the best Periodontist I have ever dealt with in fact, the entire staff are exceptional starting with Reception. They treat me like part of their Family and I feel "cared for" not "treated". It is also where I was very lucky to find a remarkable Dental Hygienist, Danna Munro. Danna is very well educated in her field and welcomes all my questions. I have never been disappointed and I always follow her advice. I can honestly say that I look forward to my cleanings now since seeing her. She is extremely gentle while working on me and is genuinely happy to see her clients. Always smiling, her personal skills help to make the time go by quickly and painlessly. I will never allow anyone else to perform my dental hygiene.

In addition, they have been very accommodating in allowing me to change my appointments without charging me the usual fee for doing so. If you have insurance, they are very efficient in setting up the claim process so it is done automatically for you. They seem a little bit higher on the pricing for service, however as in many cases, it seems you get what you pay for here. This place is always busy, giving another indication that they provide quality service, and they seem to always accommodate taking new patients.
