I came here on a Thursday afternoon. First time here from the bay. Parking was easy to find, it's…read moresomewhat on street parking, and then there's a small little section near the beach for parking too. It is usually a paid parking, but I think this month of December for Christmas, one of the store staff told me that it was free this month. Because I was looking for the pay station and he said for Thanksgiving and Christmas, this month is free. That's super nice of the city to do that. I also saw that there was a banner in town that this month is free for parking. Also, very surprisingly it was a very warm day today. It was like 70° for December! I'm like freezing back at home in San Francisco with 55° at 10 AM. Beach was very empty. Maybe like two groups that went surfing. Definitely recommend coming here to see the village, I've still has its colors. I was told that it faded a little bit, but still beautiful to visit.

My wife and I walked our first day here, but then ran out of time as it quickly became happy hour, lol. I hit two breweries on the first day. On our 3rd day, we took our daughter. A much more leisurely walk, no happy hour today. Well not true, we will hit a HH when we get back home. See all my pictures here and posted on "City of Capitola." Atmosphere - On my 3rd day, I finally found a "brewery"/tap room; too bad I will not be drinking until we get home. Service - Depends on what you do, eat, or drink. 3 years ago or so I got unlawfully detained and eventually arrested by officer Mutoza who I believe…read moredoesn't work at the office anymore. He pulled me over close to midnight in my carb legal modified Z extremely aggressively for allegedly speeding onto the onramp (5 miles above the limit). He clearly had little man syndrome and didn't like a Mexican with a girl in the passenger seat of a nice car. Being 17 at the time I was shitting my pants for the entire scene for over an hour while he aggressively kept trying to pry any sort of damning evidence on a kid trying to go home. Throughout the night he grabbed and squeezed my nuts HARD and the second time I got squirmish and he yelled at me to be a man and deal with it... this was right after or during the height of race tensions, and I genuinely felt in danger. When he couldn't prove my car was illegal, he went on to say I had signs of intoxication and while I admit 10-11 hours prior I had MJ, I clearly was simply freaked out by the guy with a gun on a power trip. I got field tested about 3 times throughout the night, and eventually after 2 more officers came and saw the scene (they had expressions of people that know I was being violated), eventually I got handcuffed after being asked if I wanted MORE field testing or a blood test. I hadn't realized a blood test meant getting arrested and taken away in that moment, on the way to Dominican I noticed the gloves used to man handle me were on the windshield and I brought it to his attention, which after he actually sped up in silence and I watched them fly off... I'm pretty damn certain if I had done it, it's a 1000$ ticket. He also told me about his own collection of actually illegal cars on the way to the hospital, and when I brought up "cop code" and how they get to abuse being intoxicated or doing bad things they get a pass "when you see your friend in trouble, you help them" he said... getting to the actual jailhouse, I vividly remember him bringing two other officers to a screening room where AGAIN I got felt up hard, and they all really seemed to like it when he was feeling up my ass good without being able to do or say anything about it. I felt disgusted and haven't ever had legal trouble before or since. Even more precious how the sherrif's he left me with in the drunk tank refused to answer any of my questions or tell me his information. I wish I could go back and sue, but my excessively law abiding parents convinced my naive self I had nothing to legally do, and unfortunately the statute of limitations is WELL past this point Two years ago on an entirely different scenario, my Miata got stolen at 4 AM from my house in Santa Cruz gardens and taken two blocks over to get stripped for collectively 5k worth of my parts, property, and damages!!! I have a neighbor who was actually awake waiting to do morning delivery driving for a bakery, who watched it all happen for an entire 40 minutes, and he waited and waited for CHP after making the call immediately... you can guess they showed up an hour later even though they regularly patrol Soquel Drive every single night. They had the audacity to claim there was a chance I set it all up for an insurance claim even though on all my cars I have liability only... the only thing they're good at is handing out tickets and making regular people's lives harder. My favorite is when I was told "at least you had something like that in the first place". I genuinely hope for better service one day.. clearly being a young man with genuine ambition only leads you to being taken advantage of by losers with a badge and gun who only care about the paycheck and feeling like they deserve any authority over regular people. Basically, legally get well versed. They don't care about you, and to anyone reading this. Be well out there. Hopefully my stories didn't put a bigger target on my back than what I have already for being a law abiding citizen who CAN pay his tickets...

My rear wheel blew out on highway 1 going 65 MPH in an all but uninhabited town called "la selva" around 12:30am on a sunday/holiday weekend. State Farm couldn't get a local tow truck to help with roadside assistance at that hour. So i was stuck. id tried to change the tire myself, in the mud & rain, but couldn't get the old wheel off. so i slid into my comfy sleeping bag in the drivers seat and started to fall asleep thinking i was in for the evening. It was a fairly quiet spot next to Hwy 1 comparatively. so my mom, being the protective type, called CHP (she's staying with me for few months) and they came out and attempted to change the tire for me! two big highway patrol guys couldn't get that tire off and so the car was stuck at the off ramp!! But they sure tried! Got themselves all dirty too cause of the mud and rain. Defeated, CHP dropped me off at home around 4am after realizing nothing else we could do. They put in such effort and i thank them fir that Flash forward to morning. my facebook plea for help got me a ride back to my car. Kevin from 831 towing came out and managed to get the wheel off the axle under extreme adversity. He changed it out, in the rain, while mercury was in retrograde and during the Trump Administration ! Great company! Well it turns out mine is a rare tire. lloyds was the only place in town that had it in stock. Costco didn't have this tire. I was just that stocked this wheel for my ride was available at Lloyd's. skeeeeeeew! They changed this tire within 30 minutes of my arrival. Tire install is around $20. Kudos to both companies and to CHP. thanks gang. I'm so glad CHP gave me overnight to get my car outta there too.
