Somehow I had lost my winter hat at a cathedral in Montreal so we were walking around looking for a…read moregood hat that wasn't necessarily marked up because it had some brand name or designer logo on it. We saw several overpriced hats at other stores and then ventured into Uniqlo. We don't have one near but but the feel of it was right for what I wanted. We found a reasonably priced hat with their supposed HeatTech technology, and it was very reasonably priced. It served me fine the rest of our time in Canada. I was surprised it's actually a Japanese brand.

OMG this is a bloody amazing store!…read more My mom used to visit her sister in Boston, primarily to go to the Uniqlo store there, and then she'd visit me in Seattle, and then Vancouver when I moved there, and the first thing on her list was always to go to the Uniqlo stores in that city. It's always been a go-to store for her and my dad, as it always has had the BEST basic wardrobe staples - and then some! - in sizing that FITS, and of excellent quality. It was just such a big bummer that my folks had to travel far and wide to get to any of their stores. And they had nightmare experiences, trying to order stuff from their website. It was important for them to actually try on the clothing. So it was great anticipation that we all waited for this store to open up in Montreal! I sent my mom status updates, on the store opening, for months before it opened, and she is just in heaven now that the store is in her city! I visited the store yesterday and even though I had read about it being the flagship Canadian store and all its features, I was still blown away by it. It is gorgeous! Huge, well laid-out, excellent signage, clean, open, spanning two levels. With all the excellent clothing for men, women and kids that they are known for. They have always had excellent sales, and right now, they are selling their winter jackets for a steal (and they are known for their winter jackets, along with base layers/thermal "Heat" layers). In fact, a lot of their winter gear is on sale right now, and they have an enormous selection of everything. So if you're in the market for cold weather clothing, you need to get there ASAP. All Uniqlo offer free hemming of their pants if they are too long on you (I've used this free feature a few times in their Seattle store. It was great!). I've gotten lots of clothes here and they've all withstood years of hard wear, so I'm a big fan. And now with this new, jazzy store, Montreal, you got it made!

It was hard to find anything under $20 (even used T-shirts!!!) so that was a little disappointing. The selection of denim jackets was exceptionally impressive though. However, if you're looking to find unique items at any cost, this would be the place for you!

However I was so impressed with the online experience I had to write a review anyways. So first I was very excited that the dress I was interested in was available in plus sizes - i used the sizing chart and because I was inbetween I sized up deciding if I needed to I would get it altered. if I didn't like it I could send it back because they have a solid return policy. I ordered the dress on a Thursday morning, paid for standard shipping and assumed it would arrive sometime next week since I live in Alberta. Imagine my shock when it arrived the NEXT DAY. Opened it up and everything was beautifully wrapped in ribbon with a beautiful note to boot. The dress is gorgeous - it will definitely need some hemming but I could not be more thrilled. I 100% will be buying from here again.

I was ready to drop over 1000.00$ for my wedding dress & 5 brides maid dresses and they didn't seem to care. waiting almost 25 minutes to check out, and the cashier wanted to give me the sample dress without a garnet bag... the dress was worn multiple times and not so white anymore. I asked if I could get a new one as she rolled her eyes and walked away to get a brand new one. again the prices are good, just don't have high expectation for customer service.

Breastfeeding, in case you haven't experienced this, can be surprisingly ridiculously hard and complicated and often painful and uniquely infuriating. I've taken advantage of their incredible kind service and free advice on many occasions and also attended classes in the private back room for various baby things. And bought some great bras and sustainable bamboo sweatshirts their too! The baked goods and food served here is pretty basic but tasty, and the soy latte was really great! Really though, everything they sell here is to support the free wealth of information they provide all the time, and the incredibly welcoming homebase they provide to young parents. I'm definitely a fan.

There is also maternity clothing, nursing clothing (I found a great dress on the clearance rack that I wore on the day we brought our baby home from the hospital), kangaroo clothing, baby carriers, nursing cushions, breast pump sales and rentals, ... There are workshops for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, baby massage, baby wearing, baby sign language, ... You can also make a one-on-one appointment with a certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) if you need help with breastfeeding. There is a café so you can take your baby, have a latté, and hang out while you breastfeed in a welcoming environment. I received friendly, knowledgeable service in both official languages. My only beef was that the espresso machine was out of service when I visited. No matter. I found an ice cream shop across the street.

I was psyched when they opened a store next to my company's office in NY, but bummed to discover they didn't have a kids selection. While in Montreal I was determined to find a Joe Fresh with a kids department, especially since the regular womans clothing won't fit my big belly these days. Joe- us pregnos would love a maternity line! This Joe Fresh isn't in the supermarket, but has it's own store connected to it. Personally I like that better since it seems a bit strange to me to shop for clothes while shopping for groceries. It's a beautiful space and most importantly they have a HUGE kids selection. I had only about 45 minutes until I had to leave for the airport (I literally was rolling my suitcase around the store) and filled my arms with tons of clothes for my little girl at home, as well as my baby boy on the way. Thank goodness I had just had my gender revealing ultrasound just days before stepping into this Joe Fresh. The total came to about $300 for what seemed was an entire fall/winter wardrobe for both kids. I had a bit of a paranoid moment when my VISA didn't go thru and they don't take AMEX. Canada doesn't seem to want to take my money! Fortunately, my Canadian coworker came thru for me and put the clothes on her credit card...and I wrote her a check. I'm still not sure how I fit all the new clothes in my suitcase, but it helps that clothes for toddlers and newborns are extremely small. Visiting this store was one of the highlights of my fabulous weekend in Montreal. I really do hope they open a store in Chicago one of these days and when they do I hope Joe remembers to add a kids department.

I found the inside quite dark. I love how big the changing rooms are though and there's never many people shopping at once, sales girls don't hassle you so you can browse through at your own pace. Joe Fresh has some really colorful and fashionable designs however in the past couple years I've noticed a drastic change in the quality of their clothing. The fabrics are too thin and cheap looking. They used to have basic tees and tank tops that would withstand many washes but now they get stretched out too easily and don't seem to last. The styles and prices remind me of H&M, only, the fit is a little too loose and not made for the tall and thin. Pants are always short for me. My favorite items are from their sleepwear and lounge collection, and I particularly like their clearance aisle - you can always find nice pieces for less than 10 bucks. My bf got a pair of watermelon red cargo shorts for 7$ and I got pjs for 5$. What a steal!
