Breastfeeding, in case you haven't experienced this, can be surprisingly ridiculously hard and complicated and often painful and uniquely infuriating. I've taken advantage of their incredible kind service and free advice on many occasions and also attended classes in the private back room for various baby things. And bought some great bras and sustainable bamboo sweatshirts their too! The baked goods and food served here is pretty basic but tasty, and the soy latte was really great! Really though, everything they sell here is to support the free wealth of information they provide all the time, and the incredibly welcoming homebase they provide to young parents. I'm definitely a fan.

I went…read morethere in search of a good-quality nursing bra, and I was able to select from a very wide range of styles in a size that I had a hard time finding in other stores. There is also maternity clothing, nursing clothing (I found a great dress on the clearance rack that I wore on the day we brought our baby home from the hospital), kangaroo clothing, baby carriers, nursing cushions, breast pump sales and rentals, ... There are workshops for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, baby massage, baby wearing, baby sign language, ... You can also make a one-on-one appointment with a certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) if you need help with breastfeeding. There is a café so you can take your baby, have a latté, and hang out while you breastfeed in a welcoming environment. I received friendly, knowledgeable service in both official languages. My only beef was that the espresso machine was out of service when I visited. No matter. I found an ice cream shop across the street.

So I came here the first time, niece in tote to check it out and we both fell in love. It's not as cheap as some might have you believe, there are some really incredible sales/deals at times (ex: newborn onesies at 2$ each, crocs for kids for 5$ etc...), but not everything is so low priced. However the items are excellent quality and there are brand names too. It's my reliable go-to when shopping for my niece n nephew or any baby shower for that matter. P.s. It's in some random parking lot off the side of a main street so it may seem like it's closed or not there...but it is there and it is open. Free parking lot.

Besides carrying local handmade soaps, body butters, face moisturizers, and lip balms, the store also carries their own line of shampoos and body gels - you can see these all in big large tubs, stacked on racks by the walls. Those who have sensitive skin, they have products that are free of dyes, perfumes, and colors. I purchased a Savon & Plus soap in lavender and in aloe vera - both smelling quite lovely! Prices are a little steep, compared to other stores in the area, but for a one-stop shop of stocking up on some all-natural soaps and shampoos, Lemieux is the place to go to. There is also a baby/infant clothing/accessories section in the back for gifts and such. It didn't…read morelook particularly open, as there were boxes of stock everywhere and the shelves were half-empty, but the women working said that they opened the doors early, and were ready for business. I was out of my hippy-dippy laundry detergent, so went to check out their offerings. They had lots of choices of scents, with a few surprising ones like bergamot, cedar, honeysuckle, vanilla, and almond, and I was really pleased that the names of the scents were plain and descriptive, not "forest dream" or "fresh scent" or anything like that. I was tempted by a few, but settled on a small bottle of the unscented variety. It was cool to see that the back wall of the shop was filled with industrial-sized barrels of bulk liquid detergent, in all the available scents. Then, my eye caught the big wall of cloth diapers in the back. I had just spent over an hour looking at cloth diapers online (mini-me is getting ready for training pants), so this was kismet. Unfortunately, they didn't have quite what I wanted, but they had a really impressive range of covers and all-in-one diapers from Canadian brands, and also a nice selection of granola-mama accessories: hand-quilted diaper changing pads, cloth wipes, my absolute favorite sippy cup (the ZoliBot XL, by the way. I have become a woman with **opinions** on sippy cups, just shoot me now), and other little things that looked like nice gifts for moms. It was 3pm and I hadn't had lunch yet, so I didn't dawdle much longer, but when I checked out I chatted with the people working there, who mentioned that there was a lot of stock that hadn't made it to the floor yet, and that I should check back for training diapers in a while. They were nice, didn't laugh at my crappy French, and the prices were decent. I'll be back!
