There were some changes inside and the new look is great! There is a Keurig with coffee and hot tea k-cups in the front next to the receptionist's desk, which is really nice. I get my hair colored and cut by Sandy and I always leave very happy! She is great at what she does and I have never had a bad hair experience with her. She has done my hair for dances in high school as well as times when I was a bridesmaid and also for my own wedding! When I explained that it is illegal to charge any type of fee on debit card transactions, the GM argued with me and tried to tell me it's not a credit card processing fee. Ironically, it just happens to be 3%! As a client, it is not my responsibility to pay your credit fee/overhead fee. That is your cost of doing business! Also, I believe you take that deduction as a business expense on your taxes. Most importantly, in all US states, it is illegal for merchants to charge a fee for using a debit card, including surcharges. This is because the Durbin Amendment prohibits debit card surcharges. While some states have laws restricting or prohibiting credit card surcharges, debit cards are specifically exempt, meaning businesses cannot add fees for using them. In this tough economy, I'm surprised a business would attempt a money grab for services that are discretionary in nature, and typically, only received as the budget allows.

I searched the web and find this location because it was local. The day of my appointment was great, she was able to schedule my appointment the very next day. I thought it was odd, because so many other hair braiding salons were booked. She braids out of her home, which should have been my first warning sign, but like I said ... I was desperate to get my hair braided. Upon arrival we went back and forth in a weird exchange over pricing. I brought a braid with me and described the length and asked what her prices were. She gave me a really high price, which was much more than I ever paid for braids and was going to leave. She then asked me what I paid for the same style previously and when I told her she agreed to that price. The home was clean but unfurnished and I was freezing most of the day. We watched an African soap opera and that was entertaining. She was pleasantly working, did not take many breaks but braided very slow. Everything was fine during install. She was very heavy handed towards the middle of my head and I asked her not to braid my front edges so tight along my hairline. She braided it tight anyway and I am unsure what is going to happen to my already weak edges in the long run. I had to stop her a few times to correct. The braids looked beautiful at completion. The issue occurred about two weeks after install. The back four or five braids started coming out. At the two and a half week mark my braids looked as if I had them in for months! I have never had braids slip this much after such a short period of time. So I contacted her via text and explained the issue and sent pictures. Her reply is attached... I never heard back from her after this and now it has been over a week from our last correspondence. As a consumer i should not have to chase and annoy someone to fix an issue. Literally four to five braids at the back of my head would not have taken a lot of time for her to fix. She just didn't want to do it...and I am not someone that is going to sit in your chair again to have you work on my hair if I know you don't want to do it. So I'm done. I have pulled all of the braids out now. Kind of a waste of money on braids that did not last a full month. Sad part was the front had some growth but the back braids were falling out too much. Just thinking about this has upset me and now I am changing this to two stars.
