I had come to the store last week, where the owners mother was tending the store and heard that they may not renew thier lease during the summer this year. I've been around Pasadena for years, and hearing a staple like them may not be here anymore certainly makes me sad. I remember doing a soap workshop and making my own soap there, I hope there are plans to do so in the future. Regardless, I plan to keep purchasing her bars when she decides to go online, or if she considers vending at farmers markers (like South Pasadena's Farmers Market). I've had the pleasure of meeting them both and they both are extremely kind and helpful. You can tell from the soaps the passion of their handmade goods and the push to reduce plastic waste. That's awesome!! I feel more and more stores will continue to follow suit, though soap kitchen had been doing it before it was cool! Not only were there things that I use every day, but the prices were ridiculously affordable. Isela (theeee sweetest person) gave me a brief, but thorough "tour" that was absolutely fascinating. She answered any and all of my questions and provided me with a few donated containers for my purchase. So far, the star of this visit are the scented lotion and hand wash. Can't recall the name. But they are pricier than the other products. I don't care at all. I LOVE the scent. As a matter of fact, I'm going in this weekend for some more of the hand soap. I have it in my bathroom (foaming pump) and my kitchen (regular hand soap pump). I also diluted it to use as a shower gel. YES, doggone it!!! I'm kinda addicted! This is one of those places that you should actually do a personal field trip to. It will change your life. Believe it. Highly, highly recommended! UPDATE: I went back in for more hand soap concentrate and some retinol serum. By the way, soap and lotion brand name is "Further". Alyssa assisted me and she is an absolute DOLL. For reference, I'm not Asian, so I can't read many of the labels on the products in the store. But ivy speaks fantastic English and didn't mind telling me about the brands and ingredients. I chose a cleanser meant for sensitive skin and she recommended a few other products as well. She wasn't pushy but urged me to come buy and try others as I finished the skincare I already had at home. She had a pile of samples ready for me at the register when I was ready to checkout, and when my husband pointed out the skincare set I had at home she began asking me how I liked it and if it was working well for me. When I mentioned my disappointment with the eye cream that came with my Ohui skin set she recommended a different brand and proceeded to LOAD my bag with samples of it. This is one of the chief reasons I love stores like this, you can buy one item and walk out with a bag full of stuff. She gave me a huge sample of shampoo I'd been wanting to try, you can't beat that kind of service! I felt really welcome here, and the service I received was fantastic. I will definitely return to purchase the cream she recommended. Such a great little shop.
