I used their service a couple times for my Miele freezer (that still needs help and isn't working as I type this review). Here are things to know: 1) You have to believe in coincidences... They came to fix my freezer that was working except it was sometimes making a noise (as if there was ice on the fan like 9 months prior when they first came to fix it). The technician came, removed parts as he thawed them, worked on my freezer and 'fixed' it... except my freezer never started cooling again and is now completely out of order. I called their office the following morning. It took them a week to send someone. Same repairman. I am now told a part is broken and needs to be replaced but that it is purely coincidental... 2) Customer service is neither efficient nor helpful. Receiving the estimate after the initial repairman's 1st visit takes several days (during which the parts aren't ordered). And if you need to change anything from the original estimate, their customer service isn't helping! You ask for the change by clicking the online link but will never hear back from them. You call them and have to deal with someone who is so unhelpful you'll need to call again a few days later hoping they will finally send you the revised estimate. When you finally receive it, replying to their email to accept does not trigger anything. It takes several more days to finally have them read your acceptance email (the part still hasn't been ordered). 3) You can pay w/check or Zelle if you want to avoid a CC fee. If you do not have Zelle, they'll wait to receive your check to order the part. Even if they have dragged their feet through the whole process and you're now nearly 3 weeks without a working freezer thanks to them. 4) Only order from them the obvious mechanical parts that need to be fixed but find online yourself smaller items like fridge filters/freezer lightbulbs etc. They will charge you a ridiculous $252 to replace 3 lightbulbs in your freezer that you can otherwise get for $4 each + shipping online (that was what I wanted them to remove from the original estimate and that took forever to do). read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Appliance Genius LLC. I paid a $225 diagnostic fee and was given a written estimate of $500 to repair my dishwasher's draining issue. The estimate did not state that additional major parts might be required or that the cost could escalate significantly. Based on their professional diagnosis and written estimate, I authorized the repair and paid the full amount. After the repair was completed, the dishwasher still did not work. I was then told that another major component (the control board) needed to be replaced for an additional $600+. At this point, the repair cost exceeds the cost of replacing the dishwasher altogether. Had this issue been identified in the initial diagnosis, I would never have approved the repair. Instead, I was put in a position where I had already spent about $700 and was being asked to spend even more for a problem that was supposedly diagnosed and quoted in writing. The company refused to issue any refund, stating the additional issue could not be identified during the initial diagnosis. From my perspective, I relied on their professional assessment, yet the repair did not resolve the problem and no meaningful remedy was offered. Consumers should be very cautious and ask detailed questions about whether the quoted repair is truly comprehensive, what happens if it does not fix the issue, and whether additional major costs could arise after you've already committed. I would not recommend anyone hiring Appliance Genius for repair services. read more

I've been naively using them for years. We even did a quarterly ice maker cleaning. Recently, I contacted Ferguson to see who they would recommend to fix our Thermadore and marvel ice makers. I had already received a quote from Appliance Genius. The new guys came out and called marvel to get a part quote. It was $100! Appliance Genius was charging me over $500 just for the part!! Over a grand to repair it. The new company did everything for $400. This company has been overcharging us for years! I've probably paid for the ice maker 3 times by now. Never again. read more

I hired Appliance Genius in Dallas to repair my freezer and paid approximately $897 via Zelle based on their diagnosis that a board had gone out and was causing a communication issue, while the freezer still functioned properly it was flashing two different codes. Unfortunately, the repair did not resolve the issue. The freezer continues to have the exact same problem, which raises concerns about whether the original diagnosis was accurate. Instead they told me that another board had gone out. I actually think it's pretty suspect that two different boards would go out at relatively the same time and in researching have found this is not likely. They have sent me a quote to replace that board which would add another $1200.I have reached out to the company to give them the opportunity to address this, but so far have not received a response. They are not responding to email or texts, both forms of communication we've used in the past. I would have preferred to resolve this directly, but at this point I feel it's important for others to be aware. I have now seen reviews similar to mine about parts being replaced, not working and more parts needed, driving the cost up. I am still open to a fair resolution and will update this review if the company makes it right read more

these guys have tried scamming us. I told them the model number of our Blue Star range and what the problem was. They sent a repair man out, he said he had a replacement igniter for our oven. He diagnosed the igniter as the problem, but then he didn't have the right part. I had to pay $450 for the diagnosis call (they did drive to Sealy). Just received a bid from them wanting $300 for the part, another $300 for labor - turns out the part costs less than $100 and takes less than 15 minutes to replace. What should have cost at most $300, maybe $400, they are trying to charge $1,200. BEWARE. read more

UPDATE: I rarely update reviews, but I feel this is important for others. Appliance Genius Dallas diagnosed my Dacor freezer codes 6 and 13 and needing a UI board replacement, which I approved at nearly $900. Unfortunately, the issue was not resolved. Before seeking a second opinion, I contacted the owner, Jeremy to discuss the situation (please note: I tried multiple times and multiple ways to reach someone and he only reached out to me after my initial review). From the start of the conversation he was defensive and clear he would not consider any reimbursement. The conversation escalated and was not handled professionally. I brought in another appliance company. They referenced Dacor manufacturer information and confirmed the error codes point to the main control board--not the UI board--and stated there was nothing supporting the original diagnosis. Everything from Dacor pointed only to the main control board. The tech, Frank, never referenced Dacor information. I understand appliance diagnostics can be complex at times, but when a costly repair does not fix the issue, I would expect a more thoughtful and customer-focused response. Putting in the UI board was not necessary and it cost me needlessly. Based on my experience, I would encourage others to seek a second opinion before approving major appliance repairs. Appliance Genius and efforts to discuss a reasonable solution with the owner, has been a huge disappointment. read more

We have Miele appliances and Miele does not have a service network here in the Houston area. Appliance Genius was suggested and they came out to diagnose the issue and gave us a repair proposal. Took a bit to get the part in but they showed up on time, were knowledgable and fixed the issue with our steam oven. Showed us the diagnostics before and after to be 100% sure the issue was addressed. Happy with their service. read more

Holy Crap...I literally don't know where to start. Service fee was claimed to be $145 by the visiting technician, whereas at the time I made the appointment the service fee was stated to be $140. Yeah, that's a minor point, but did inflation take place in the three days between requesting service and getting it? The technician arrived, and I already had the dryer apart and had found a burned component. I showed it to him and he said yep, that's the problem. Didn't check anything else, no effort at all to determine the reason the part burned. His service receipt claimed that he disassembled the dryer, diagnosed the part, found it to be in need of replacement, and used that 'labor' to justify his full service fee. He promised to call to notify me when the new part had been received in their parts department. I didn't get a phone call, instead I got a repair estimate in my email for $811. Here's where it gets bad. The estimate includes repair labor (labor rate and number of hours was not stated), the price for the part (about $100 more than quoted elsewhere), delivery & handling of $49.99, and a 'convenience' fee of almost $30 for using a credit card. And tax of course, but the tax was also levied on the convenience fee (this is not a product or a provided service and is not taxable). I asked about having them order the part for me and I would do the replacement myself. I was placed on hold, and after 15 minutes of waiting, the bullshit story started. First, I would have to pay for the part before it was ordered. I was immediately suspicious because I had done my homework and called 3 supply houses myself, and nobody had the part because it was "listed" as discontinued. Next was the 'convenience fee' that was waived if I paid cash. BUT, since you have to pre-pay, there was no way avoid that fee. How convenient. Suspicious again...when you get your car fixed at a repair shop they don't ask you to pay for new brake rotors or a new starter before doing the repair. I then asked again if they could order that part for me (since appliance repair and finding parts what they do for a living), and I would do the repair myself. They said they could not. Reasons? They did not have a location that I could show up and take the part out of their inventory. This was also the reason I had to pay a convenience charge (no location to make a cash payment). The only way to get the part was to have the service tech deliver to part to my address, which added another service charge fee of $145. And if the tech was fulfilling a service visit, he had to also perform the repair ($395). The straw that broke the camels back...Even though they were going to charge me $49.99 for delivery and handling to get the new part, they justified an additional $145 service fee to deliver it to my address. They resorted to every trick in the book to get the most $$$ out of me that was possible. You remember about the needed part being obsolete when I searched for it? I asked for confirmation that they could actually get the part and they said 'the parts department will work on that'. They wanted my money and repair charges UP FRONT for a part that they did NOT HAVE. At best, it's a clown show. At worst, it's a bunch of thieves running this place. read more

Firstly, other appliance repair companies do not require payment for their visit before providing an estimate for a repair. Even after several inquiries over the course of a week after paying their technician, for the service call, they refused to provide an estimate.
