She talked about the history of the site, and in general was a most pleasant teacher. She introduced us to so many varieties of lavender that I forgot a few, but liked them all. She even was able to transport one of us who wasn't so adept at walking on unlevel ground, all while aware of the needs of the group. Even the dog was entertaining! It's quite a drive for us, so I was t going to make a trip just for this. We were ckose(ish) when camping and decided to attend one of their special events, an Alice in wonderland tea party. The setup was adorable with so much attention to detail. Every table was uniquely decorated and there were a variety of fun activities for kids and adults. They had a nice selection of foods as well. I will say that while if is pretty and serene, it wouldn't be worth a long drive unless it was for a special. The shop is well stocked with a variety of products, but it is pretty small. Pricing is fair and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. Their headache stick is magical. I had a pretty bad migraine and shortly after rubbing it on I felt much better. While we were there they were also offering pick your own flowers. There was a beautiful variety of options and colors. Overall, a quaint and beautiful place to visit.

He was selling an assortment of meats: ground beef, beef patties, london broil, chuck/arm roast, rump roast, eye of round roast, short ribs, beef cubes, liver, porterhouse, t-bone, bone-in ribeye, strip steak, filet/tenderloin, sirloin, skirt, beef brisket, pork chops, shoulder roast, baby-back ribs, spare ribs, country ribs, bacons, hams, ground lamb, lamb rack, loin chops, etcetera! A sign on his table said that he was also offering half/whole pigs and whole lambs. He accepted customers' payments via cash, check, credit card, Apple Pay, and Venmo. My husband, who had recently been gifted a new grill, felt most interested in the beef brisket, so he purchased 2.5 pounds of brisket. The owner made courteous conversation about how to grill the brisket, and he sincerely thanked us. The price was slightly higher than what some other farms and stores charge, but I think that Temple Family Farm raises their animals in better conditions. Later at home, my husband put this beef brisket in his smoker for hours. The brisket was tender and flavorful.

The Johnson-Shaw was the reason I was stopping in Meadville. Outside of Yelp, I'm a bit of a…read morestereoscopy-geek, so I was there to do some research. The museum is run by older volunteers who are very nice, and passionate about the company and city. It's in an old building, with very high ceilings and inadequate heat. (They are closed in winter.) I was there in April, shortly after they'd opened for the season, and it was still bitterly cold. They offered me a space heater as I worked in the library, but I was paranoid about fire risk with such a cool collection and declined to use it, opting to wear my coat instead. And did I mention I already had a cold? Don't do as I did. That was stupid. They wouldn't offer you a space heater that they felt was a fire risk. I suspect that they don't have air condition in summer, although I don't actually know. The museum is one big room that seeks to tell the history of the Keystone View Company, which was based in Meadville. They do so with mannequins set up to demonstrate different aspects of production and stereoscopic use, as well as stereoscopic pictures (original cards and blow ups). You read in books that Keystone was started with pictures of the French Creek flood, but I'd never seen those pictures before I came to the Johnson-Shaw. If memory serves, admission is about $5. Since I work in museums and don't often have to pay admission, it felt a little steep to me - but I was happy to pay it to support their mission. And, really, I'm just out of touch with what museum admissions look like these days, because $5 isn't so bad! If you're interested in stereoscopic pictures or the history of Meadville, a pop in to the Johnson-Shaw is worth your time. If you're really interested in stereo, make sure you allow time to look around their library, because they have some great stuff there, too.

While setting up, the staff was accommodating, they let us arrange the tables and chairs in any way we pleased. They tried to make sure that the family was well satisfied with their experience at the country club. The only problem with the experience was that during the service at some point the AC went out and the room where the service was suddenly became very hot. Overall the experience at the country club was great and would recommend for different events in the Oil City area!
