There were gentleman working in the parking lot who did a nice job of directing us where to park. There were a lot of people coming in and at a steady flow. The people taking tickets were quick and efficient which kept the line moving. That was very nice. The lantern festival was in a gated section. We set up our chairs and then went to a second section for food from the food trucks. There was also a long row of Port A Potties as well as a sink with soap. That was very much appreciated. Though there were thousands of people there we never felt crowded. Everyone was behaving and having a good time. We talked to two security guys during our time at the festival and they were extremely nice. When it was time to go the parking lot directors kept the traffic moving and people were able to leave without sitting and waiting for a long time. We also saw a car being towed out. It was nice to know that if something had happened to us that help would be available.

Make sure you bring a lot of money with you because items are nice in quality and it gets expensive!! Even on a cold, rainy day in October, the place was packed! It's $10 per adult to get inside, kids 12 and under are free. We went with our family and kiddos and it was great. No issues with pushing our stroller around. However, it can be tricky to buy things for the little ones stockings in they're hanging around so bring someone to provide childcare with you if you decide to bring littles!! There is a Santa Claus, live music and lots of food for sale. We had pierogis, kielbasa sauerkraut sandwiches, Mac and cheese, doughnuts, cherry strudel, chicken wings, pulled pork sandwiches and hot chocolate for lunch during our visit. Everything tasted good! I would definitely go back and bring more $ specifically cash next year!!

Everything: iron garden art, photography, knitted items, ornaments, glassware. There is ample parking and a modest entry fee. It was a great time - took us about 3 hours to stroll the property and select our treasures, we had already eaten - big mistake as there was some fabulous fare at this fair!

Well worth the price. This festival was held in the trees so you were shaded from the sun in most places. It was the humidity that was a killer. Tough wearing a mask but I would never not wear one. I saw a few other people with them too. They had all kinds of vendors, from candles, soaps, honey, home decor, quilts, and many more. They had demonstrations going on and dancers. The dancers we saw looked to be in 70's to 80's they were adorable. We enjoyed that. Food was the normal fair type food, we had a steak hoagie with fries, hot dog and then you can't leave without dessert. Funnel cake and deep fried Oreos. I would definitely return if I was visiting at the time it was here.

It took us almost 2 hours (yes, you read that correctly) to go 2 miles to get into the venue. We sat in traffic anxiously awaiting our arrival. That was our only bad experience during our trip there. Maybe have someone directing traffic at the stop light? That seemed to be the main problem with the traffic congestion. Once you make it inside of the venue it's fantastic! It's honestly like a time warp. You walk into the woods and most of the employees are dressed in old time clothing. They have tons of vendors from multiple different states. They have live demos with craftsman showing off their skills as well as musical entertainment. They do have delicious food stands to choose from as well. But be prepared to wait in line. We stood in line for about 30-45 for our lunch. You wouldn't think that many people would be out in the woods in the middle of nowhere looking at crafts but boy was I wrong. There had to be multiple of thousands of people there. My favorite stand (pictured) was filled with herbs and spices. A close second was the plant nursery. They really do have something for everyone here. I should add that it's $10 a person to get in and you literally park in a field. It can be a struggle walking from the field parking into the venue if you are handicapped. They did offer handicap parking, but it was completely filled whenever we arrived. They offer a golf cart ride for people that are handicapped, but they just couldn't assist everyone who needed it. Anyways, I would definitely recommend checking this festival out. We are already planning on attending the next festival for Christmas!

My favorite and choice this year was Pastitsio which is a lasagne like dish but with wonderful spice seasoned into the meat. After filling up on the food and enjoying the live music we burned some calories walking through the shops, silent auction and garage sale in the basement. It's such a lively, warm community that you feel like an extension of it right away. Last piece of advice - try something outside your comfort zone maybe Dolmades or Spanikopita.

ANNUNCIATION IS CELEBRATING ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY!…read more The Annunciation Greek Festival is in its 58th year and is hosted by Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Akron. As I was reviewing information regarding local activities, this festival popped up. We all know that when we hear "Greek Festival", it is akin to ringing a dinner bell. The festival was scheduled to open up at 11 am and we arrived shortly before to get the "lay of the land". The one thing I really appreciated about this event is that it was free and parking was on site. I have never attended a "free" festival so this was a very nice surprise. There were two dining options available, (inside with a buffet style option and outside in the tent with individual items offered). We chose to eat under the tent although we would love to have been in a more open and airy space. We were "early birds" so we moved through the line with ease. We purchased gyros, salad, fries and beverages. The gyro was one of the best I have EVER tasted. The meat was fresh, had great texture and was appropriately seasoned. Those fries were perfectly prepared as they were cooked with the skin on and lightly seasoned. The salad was used to dress the gyro. Perfect! Most importantly, it wasn't overly salted and did not have that heavily processed taste. It was heavenly and I would love to return for dinner when the entertainment will be on and popping! Today's festival does not end until 11pm so you still have plenty of time to enjoy some great food, entertainment, and shopping. Don't just sit there, get moving!!
