The place was dirty, food and garbage on the floor - told the hostesses it was dirty and she still didn't clean it up even after we got done eating. The mixed drinks were not shaken all the liquor was on top.French onion soup was good, mozzarella cheese sticks were good chicken quinoa with granny Smith apples was terrible read more

I went here with my daughter, and we had a modern take on Mac n cheese, a salad and some tortilla chips. The chips where boring and the two salsas were worse than some cheap supermarket salsa. The salad was limp and uninspired, but the mac n cheese was the worst. It has these pieces of chicken and bacon added, which had that distinct hardness of something heated for too long or heated in a microwave. The pasta itself was terrible. In spite of coming directly from the pool, and being really hungry, neither my daughter nor I could eat it. It was covered in huge amounts of something that tasted just like cheap syrup. I thought going to Applebee's was going to allow me to feed us both, so we could go shopping. But neither of us came out of there sated, so we ended up going home to eat anyway. Not ok! read more

We came for a co-workers going away party. Staff was great about getting a large table set up for 13 people. However we were in waiting area waiting for others in our party and there were 3 hostesses hanging around up front - leaning on the hostess station. My friend and I sat quietly while they gossiped about people loudly. Very unbecoming to do right in front of customers. We were seated quickly and the server was very nice & accommodating. She made sure we had what we needed, had drinks refilled quickly but she did not hover. I'll say the server was the best part of the visit. The food was not the greatest. Something is different in the way they prepare the food. Everything was very salty. Specifically the spinach artichoke dip. Lots of sauce and spinach. Not any artichoke I could taste and very little actual cheese. And it was VERY salty! Same with the boneless wings. Very salty and the chicken was rubbery. Quesadillas were gross. Obviously canned chicken. Why use canned chicken when you have actual chicken? Gag! I have always liked Applebee's but things have gone downhill with the quality of food. read more

I visited this Applebee's restaurant in August of 2014 for lunch while traveling on business in the area. The food was great, as usual, but I wanted to point out that I received some exceptional service. I happened to leave my credit card behind and, when I called later in the day the manager stated he would send it to me in the mail. In a few days, the card arrived. I really appreciate this service and the integrity of the manager at this location. Thanks to all and I will be back the next time I am in Waterloo! read more

No, just no. Worst chain ever. They can't get anything right on a simple order and then the waitress wants to argue about it. There are better places to 'eat good in the neighborhood.' I'll never understand the appeal of this place. read more

I don't expect much from Applebees but this place is really terrible!!!! I had very little options when I came into town tonight since most places were closed. All I wanted was to grab a quick dinner before heading off to bed. I ordered a Chicken Caesar salad, French onion soup and a flavored iced tea. It was a take out order so I asked for silverware with the meal and they gave me 2 forks and 2 knives. How am I supposed to eat soup with a fork and knife? The soup was luke warm at best and very salty. The flavored iced tea was disgusting. It was loaded with artificial syrup mixed with unsweetened tea. Then there was my salad. Hard to mess up a salad right? Wrong! The lettuce was soggy and tasted like it had been sitting out all day. The chicken was also luke warm at best and very chewy. I only had a few bites of the salad before throwing It out. I was very disappointed at the whole experience... read more

This establishment gets a zero for the way our family was treated on 04/16/16. Our family decided to have dinner after long day of grieving and putting my mother-in-law to rest at the funeral. We had about 40 people and only had one waitress and they were not that busy. I don't blame her, I blame management. Any way after all the hassle of cold food, charges on bill, etc the majority of party went over to bar with other members of family and Kaitlyn another waitress was coming in between family to get by, she was very rude in requesting us to move to the lobby and I advised her that we were having drinks and she continued to be agressive and rude to me and others. I exclaimed that she is rude and she told me I was rude! I stated for her to get her manager. She stated if I wanted the manager then I need to get her, she picked up her purse and went outside. She then returned and kept her hands in her pocket as if she had a weapon. She was not told to remove. She continued to be agressive disrepectful at the least and escalate the situation. We spoke with manager Taylor she apologized but did not tell the waitress to remove herself. Kaitlyn continued to act as if she runs the place and that she had no worries of anything to be done to her. A physical altercation almost occurred due to her continuing disrespectfulnes to me. I am 44 years old and have never been treated that way. She needs to be fired, she is a liability to Applebee's. She scared me because I definitely thought she brought in a weapon especially during these times. I have posted it on their Facebook page and I have called corporate and I will be speaking with general manager tomorrow. Manager needs to be reprimanded and Kaitlyn needs to be fired! I will continue to voice until I am heard. This was an outrage especially during our grieving of a loved one! read more
