We used to come to this Applebee's in Spartanburg every week, but after this experience, I'm extremely disappointed. I signed up for Applebee's rewards/promotion program because it advertised a free appetizer. When we went to use the offer, the manager, Tyler, would only apply it to the cheapest item on the table -- a $4 soup my dad ordered -- instead of the actual appetizer I purchased, which was around $12. That feels misleading and frustrating. The whole reason I signed up for the rewards program was because it offered a free appetizer, not a discount on whatever the restaurant decides is cheapest. When I brought it up, Tyler refused to correct it. I'm also a military veteran, and while I don't expect special treatment, I do expect a business to honor the promotion they advertise and treat loyal customers fairly. We were weekly customers, and this left a really bad impression. Instead of honoring the advertised reward in a reasonable way, it felt like they were trying to avoid giving the actual benefit. Very disappointing experience, especially from a place we used to visit regularly. The little things matter. read more

I went to Applebee's on 12/26/24 before looking at the reviews. I love Applebee's I always to the one in Anderson, SC, but I was a little disappointed. We ordered the 2 for 28, the Fiesta Lime Chicken and boneless wings for the appetizer. We ordered a separate appetizer which was the beef nacho's. The Fiesta Chicken was good, but the rice was not good. It had a weird taste. The boneless wings were fried alittle hard, and there was barely any beef with the nachos. I don't know what was going on with the rice. The service was great, very nice hostess, and the atmosphere was great. read more

We waited for about 4-5 mins to be seated which was weird because there was really no one there , they werent bust at all. Waitress who who sat us put us at a table that had food under it, seat sticky. Bathroom was dirty. The chicken wings didnt have enough sauce. Felt like we were bothering our server to help us. We waited to pay for like 6 mins looking around, manager walked by and explained that we were supposed to pay on game device on table. No one told me that, wasnt sure what to do when the thing froze. I love me some applebees but after tonight some love was lost. I had the new Big Tex Taco Salad, to say it was bland is an understatement. There was no taco flavor to the burger which also had beef clumps, don't even wanna know how that happened. The guacamole was nothing more than a scoop of avocado. I don't know who's doin prep in back but they haven't a clue how to chop lettuce and need prep 101. My fiance got the chicken wonton stir fry, the menu doesn't state mushrooms which are a huge allergen for some, thankfully he found them so we didn't end up at the e.r. naughty naughty applebees, things like that should be on the ingredients list. Ordered the classic combo. They left off the spinach dip, the main reason we came. Utensil were not clean. We ask for an extra ranch didn't get it. We didn't get plates. When we got the plates something was on one of them . I Had to get another cup something was on mine Had to ask for napkins. We didn't get refills. Waitress rushed us the whole time. This location is literally right down the street from my house, and it's open super late (which is convenient for those of us in the entertainment world). However, as many times as I've taken advantage of its location and generous hours, I would have to say it is not improving. Some issues, like the disappointing portions or the lack of flavor in the appetizers, I'm sure, are due to the parent company. (Another issue with this chain is that it markets itself as a "nicer" place, while everyone knows the food is on par with Denny's. There is nothing wrong with Denny's, far from it -- but everyone knows this, so they should bring their prices down accordingly! It's sly. It's deceitful. And I've finally stopped falling for it.) Otherwise, this particular Applebee's' failings are all its own. The seats need replacing; the restroom's soap is either out or broken; the entrance area is confusing. No matter how many servers are strolling around, performing their tasks just out of hailing distance, the assigned server to my table rarely puts in an appearance. Several times they've been away so long, I've forgotten their name. I couldn't have called it anyway, being parched from a lack of water due to their prolonged absence. It's like a sort of very polite torture method. I'm adding one star to my review because everyone with whom you interact IS very personable, but honestly! It feels like the seasons change between their visits to the table. I'm told they're under new management soon, so perhaps another review is in order, but for now I'll leave this here. read more

Where to start we walked in and stood there for a long time before anyone greeted us or sat us! When someone finally did come it was an older woman who was very snarky and rude !!! The bathroom was disgusting! Pretty sure there's a greater chance of contracting a virus of some kind in there then there is of going maskless anywhere else in the world. Disgusting. If I could give 0 stars i would. I went there last night with my family. They sat us got us drink and order with and app. Then it went down hill from there. Our waiter took over for another. He and 2 other waiter's made sure not to make eye contact. So i sat there for 30 mins asked for a waiter to check on our app. He said to our face i do not have ur table and don't ask for anything else. So we sat there for 10 more minutes waiting. Nothing the tables that had came in 20 minutes after us had got food and their drinks. We eventually after abt 45 minutes of waiting left. 10/10 don't go there. read more

Me and my family were going here for me and my cousin's graduation celebration. When walking in, the guy at the door look around and then looked to us saying "35 to 45." My mum, confused, asked "minutes?" and he disrespectfully said "yeah." After this, my father asked why, he responded in an annoyed tone "our nightshift workers aren't all here" in which my father replies "well can we atleast be seated?" He glared and said "nope." The service is so terrible with the waiter that I have! First he bring me a watered down drink because it sat too long, then the appetizers was cold, last he bring food without any ketchup, napkins, salt and pepper etc. it's like he only waited on one table. I see this particular location has a few negative reviews, but I have to say this visit we were taken care of very well. Our server was very attentive, and our glasses stayed full and icy cold. The new loaded fajitas came out sizzling with our sides on separate plates to build them. The flour tortillas were wrapped in foil and warm. We had the chicken and steak. Both drizzled in hot queso and topped with applewood bacon. Be prepared to get to go boxes. read more

We ordered curbside to go. Once I got home I noticed that all of the dishes were wrong.

(To preface this, our waitress and the assistant manager were pleasant and tried to compensate for the kitchen's failings.) If I live through the aftermath of over-seasoned and burned Bourbon Chicken and Shrimp, I will never eat at an Applebee's again much less this one. We arrived for dinner at 8:30 and were seated in a few minutes. Our salads arrived 20 minutes later with a plate of burned chicken and potatoes which I started to send back, but it was already after 9:00. I only ate the chicken and three shrimp and 4-5 potatoes. Most of the side was left on the plate. I woke up sick with the disgusting taste of this meal at 2:00 a.m. It is now 11:00 a.m., and I still am suffering! Also, The bathroom was a disgusting mess with paper everywhere and dirty toilets, and the floors throughout the place needed to be vacuumed. This is the same restaurant that, 16 years ago, I ate at when I was pregnant. I had a salad on that visit. There were insect eggs on the lettuce in that salad. Me and my fiancé made the mistake of going here for our 2 year anniversary and on top of the place being completely nasty with dirty tables everywhere, all of the employees on their phones and absolutely no one. And I mean no one working. Like really , even the cooks were hanging out at the bar. So we get seated and wait 17 minutes while workers are completely ignoring us , one lady (could've been our waitress,idk) was talking to the people behind us about her family heritage. If I could give negative 5 stars I would! I was served cold, raw chicken. My fries were double coated in grease. My grandmother also had chicken. Hers was heated, not cooked. There were three flies Count them! three, circling my plate and two flies circling hers. I went to the bathroom and threw up and asked if we could leave. We got home and 3 hours later I was throwing up like a firehose. My grandmother and I had to go to the doctor the next day, she got sick because of a stomach virus but I had a high level of food poisoning. Aside from the food, The employees were on their phones, the bartenders were DRINKING VODKA AND BEER AT THE BAR. I peeked into the kitchen and nobody was wearing a hair net or beard net. After standing at the door being totally ignored by the servers the bartender had to come out from behind the bar to seat us. It seems like the bartender was stuck doing everything here. She made drinks, cleaned tables, took orders for tables that shouldn't have been her responsibility, answering phones, and handling takeout orders. I honestly can't tell you what the actual waitresses were doing outside of socializing and following each other around and failing at doing a rather simple job. I'm only giving this place three stars because of the bartender. We got our food before the tables being worked by servers, and honestly they looked kind of pissed about that. The restaurant is not busy, there's no reason to have 4 waitresses working a table each and the bartender running everything else. We have seen people stand at the door and ultimately leave because none of the available servers would seat them, and the bartender was too busy doing everything else. One person running an entire restaurant is ridiculous, and while we obviously appreciate this bartender's efforts and service, they need a more supporting waitstaff. One star for everything but the bartender and the mozzarella sticks. read more

Me and my girlfriend saw Applebee's yesterday and decided to give it a try tonight. We entered with low expectations knowing that it's "Applebee's" but this location gives a whole new meaning to the name. We waited for 8-10 minutes while all the staff acted like they didn't see us. Someone finally showed up to seat us. He walked from the back looking like he just woke up from a nap. He didn't even greet us and said You got 15 minutes" I replied "for what" he said "the wait" while looking at me puzzled. The restaurant was 20% full and a couple had just left right before he walked up. So I was confused and we decided to not be seated. I read the other reviews posted here and was not planning to eat here. My husband said to give it a try anyway. When we got there, we were immediately greeted at the door and seated with the greeter taking our drink orders. A server (Josh) came to the table almost at once. As he took our orders, he pointed out that what we requested was on the 2 for $20 menu with some extra food included. It was in the same proportions too. As it turned out, this was less expensive. When we had just finished our salads, our food came out hot and fully cooked ready to eat. Josh came back often to check on us and was always very helpful and courteous. As we left, I told the manager that I had been dreading what I would find but what a pleasant experience this had been after all. I definitely would eat here again. read more

I've been coming to this Applebee's every since I moved up here from Atlanta. I recently went and the service was so ridiculous to the point where I asked him not to even charge me at the end of the night, and I did not want to take it home with me I had more than 77% of my food left. I hate to say it but I won't be back, I'll try the one on the westside of Spartanburg. The manager wasn't even on the floor, people had to wait 10 to 15 minutes to be seated but they weren't packed. My shrimp is overcooked, my chicken was dry oh, and to top it all off my tortilla chips for my spinach dip was so salty I couldn't even put it in my mouth. He brought me back some more chips but they were even more salty, he said I'll have them made fresh for you out the grease. When he bought them you would have thought they cooked it 5 minutes ago but just didn't put any salt on them.
