Service wasn't great at all, cold fries, missing a drink that was ordered. Asked for knife and fork with napkins and never received.

We got there right when we opened on 11/12 11am. Normally i go to Perkins or Maybe Romas(new one) I decided to try it here.. I got Chicken broccoli alfredo.. Waiter was amazing WITH GREAT suggestions and his eyes were very welcoming!! Now the Chicken was very good as well as the broccoli but there was not near enough sauce. It tasted more like a butter sauce. It was very scarce and thin. Didnt cling to any noodles. Noodles were LIL gummy. Will i come back for that prob not. The kids meal w the pizza was Perfect she wanted cheese stix n applesauce. Will i be back for the alfredo.. prob not. Needs more Alfredo sauce!!! read more

The food was fantastic. The service was fast and nice. The ambiance was a full local town pics and old stuff.

I just had the two for $29 meal, the meals came out hot and tasted great! The waitress was very attentive and did a great job. But the electronic table billing device sucks! They need to move on from that brick Sutton the table! read more

Bartender Carly knows her job well! Food was good (ribs, a southwest chicken salad) but could've been hotter. Tap beer selection was good. Prices seemed a bit high but this seems to be the norm every place this year (2023). read more

My virgin daiquiri had fermented juice. Waiter was extremely arrogant. He would not add a little more soda to a mixed drink because of "corporate standards" I have literally never heard of this before. I went to a different applebees and asked for the same drink with a little more soda and they gladly did it. Literally watched a table be seated have drinks appetizers and dinner and leave before I got my appetizer. My friend had small hard tenders. Fries were cold. Waited on refills. However the manager comped us which was nice and she gave us all free meal vouchers..... only for that location though. We live 5 hours away. Typical Applebee's. Appetizer arrived after main course. Chicken wings were red and undercooked. Asked the manager on duty and she replaced them. They were very busy the night I was there in owatanna Minnesota I have spent 20 years in restaurant business and honestly won't go back to Applebee's. Just ordered food to go, waitress admitted that my wonton tacos came out of the kitchen burnt and she would not serve them. She had the kitchen re-do. Smart on her part, epic fail in kitchen staff. Hubby ordered pink on his burger and it was raw, really you can't cook a burger right. Everything else you make is just a quick fry or a reheat. What happened to actually being a working cooking restaurant? Are you afraid of actually making all your food to your customers satisfaction. Shame. read more

The food here is delicious. I have been here traveling only and every time I'm here the food is so good. The chef here knows what they are doing. I have ordered just about everything off the menu and have not had a bad meal yet. My go to when in Owatonna. This chef will not be here long as this food is so good! read more

Very nice atmosphere, the food was excellent (I got the half rack of the ribs from the 2 for $20) and so were the drinks! Always the perfect place to go if you need a nice place to eat for a decent price. read more

The one and only good thing is I was able to get out there without having to spend a load of money besides that I ordered my appetizer btw was the Buffalo wings they warm at best then my main course which was the four cheese Mac and cheese with honey pepper chicken strips on top btw it doesn't tell you but it also comes with bacon but not the good kind anyways the four cheese part was bs cause it literally look like it was a thin layer of Queso cheese put on top the noodles were rubbery the chicken was over cooked and the sauce did not taste like honey pepper. it was nasty the worst chicken I've ever had but before I forget this was all happening while I was still waiting for my drink so my server gets her manager and yes in his defense he took the bill for at least the Mac and cheese and another piece of food but I'm getting to it he asked if wanted something else I was hesitant at first. but I decided on the bacon cheese burger and well pretty similar story to the Mac and cheese the burger was over cooked I ask for a little pink in the center but it was smash burger even though the picture made it look like a normal burger anyways the bun was two time smaller than the burger it was really greasy like you could see the grease dripping of the buns and over all this place is completely terrible I spent 4 hours in total and still went home hungry never go here no matter what. This place has got to be one of the worse restaurants in Owatonna. My last visit was the worst yet. After the drinks and appetizer was delivered we never saw our server again. We finally received our food after waiting for over an hour. None of the food on my plate had any heat left on it. They also gave us a plate of food that we did not order. Two things we all love, apples and bees. We cannot have one without the other. And after a night like mine neither can my taste buds. I have been lifted to heights unknown and unbeknownst to man! Today I learned all possibilities are indeed endless I learned I can go threw life friend less for what lie in store for me at this establishment rapes my being, ravages all senses, and leaves me a mere sniveling child. The maidens that deliver your feast watch helplessly as you beset your meal. The food quivers as it to is helpless. Your stomach screams in delightful anguish as you put every signal morsel down. Then just as to wake up from a dream of pure pleasure your facing oblivion once again. Staring at an empty plate you slugglisly leave the only home you have ever know. I'm giving Applebee's two stars, one for our server because she was great, and the other for the margarita because that was great as well. Unfortunately, we didn't come to Applebee's because of margaritas and a good server.. we came for food.. so that's why I didn't give it any more stars. I ordered the ribs on the 2 for 20 and I couldn't eat them. I am by no means a picky eater, but I literally could not eat them. My boyfriend couldn't either. It was as if they blended together bones/fat/& cheap meat, slapped on some BBQ and called it good. Every bite I was spitting out weird pieces of cartilage (or so I hope that's what it was?!) we boxed it up to give to the dogs- hopefully they will eat it?! Everything else we ordered was mediocre at best. It just tastes cheap. I used to love applebees, but the food quality has really went down hill. read more

Feb 28 We usually are Olive Garden customers but weather forced us to stop over night and this Applebee's was the closest to our hotel. I had a steak and shrimp meal and my wife had a steak and veg including fried inions both of our meals were done just as we had ordered and the hostess was excellent, very attentive and engaging in conversation. To bad cant remember her name. Think it might be Rebecca. We are certainly going to check out other Applebee's in the future read more

The staff here were prompt and polite, and all the food we had was delicious. My roast beef, bacon and mushroom sandwich was meaty, salty and greasy to a fault, but I enjoyed it. What can I say? I'm American, I was born to love this stuff. read more

We recently visited the Owatonna Applebee's on Veteran's day and I received the complementary lunch. The meals my wife and I received were great and the service was very good also. We eat there several times a year and have always been satisfied with both the quality and service. I would rate this maybe one star, a half if possible. We ate here for a bantam hockey tournament, it was the worst we have ever been treated and we didn't even get a solid explanation. From what we understand we did have a large group with a fairly new waitress but it took 2 hours to just get our food. We then tried to settle our bills and that took another hour +. Also we were aloud one drink a person, as we asked for another the waitress told us her manager said we were cut off. When we asked for an explanation of why the waitress left and sent her head manager in and we were told that we rude and "picking on his staff" when we were all clearly kind and understanding with the new waitress and never made a fuss about the three hours + it took just to get food and a bill for what little we all order. The manager did admit he dropped the ball but we still yet to receive an explanation of why this all happened in the first place or why we were aloud one drink when it was the first drink we had that Day. Worst yes one of the worst experiences ever. Walked in with my daughter to order takeout. Placed takeout orders in person and paid for food at time of order. Wait time was expectable. Waitress working pickup up came out and asked for my name then come back out and asked what I ordered so I gave her my receipt. She brought the food out as my daughter and I were about to leave the manager walked over to my vehicle and asked if I ordered a grilled chicken ceased salad I replied yes. He then asked if he could check to see if the chicken was put on. It was not so he took it back in to add the grilled chicken. He then came back out and handed me my food and said thank you. Got home with the four meals I ordered. I paid $5.00 kids meal that only included 3 chicken tenders and they forgot the apple sauce and the drink. I paid $5.00 for cheesy bread pizza kids meal and they forgot the apple sauce. My sons 7 oz. steak that was supposed to be medium done could barely be cut because it was not cooked properly. If I had my choice I would never eat there again. I've never had a bad meal at Wags. read more

My wife absolutely loves this place, so we eat there a lot. But I'm not so enthusiastic. The food is good, I've never not enjoyed the food there (besides some really salty gravy) and I vouch for its quality. But the service is abysmal. I don't blame the servers, they aren't the problem. It is the kitchen staff and what seems like a very dodgy policy in regards to portion sizes and the terrible 'Carside to go' service. On one such visit, I ordered a beer and was asked to produce ID, so I did. When I handed over my passport (I'm a British immigrant) the server took it away for almost half an hour because it is 'company policy' to have to check some giant passport book when, being a British passport my date of birth is in plain English (and French). I don't want my nationality and my document handed around the staff like I am some kind of zoo exhibit. What makes it worse is that this only happened once, so I question if it is 'company policy' at all. Anyway, moving on. Every now and then my wife and I just cannot be bothered to eat out, so we order Carside to go and almost every time they forget a portion of my order. I ordered Fish & Chips the last time and I didn't get my fries.... It's in the name, that's like ordering a hamburger and the chef forgets the bun! Nevertheless, since my wife enjoys this place so much I keep returning and I do enjoy the food, the burgers are good and their garlic fries are fantastic if not a bit lacking in portion size (I could count the number of fries at the first glance). Overall I'll give this a three star rating, at least for the Owatonna branch due to the staff and having never been to another branch before. Just avoid it and take the trip to Northfield or Albert Lea if you are really hankering for it. read more

Typical formula chain food, not very interesting. We have had some terrible service with the wait staff not bothering to see if the meals are correct or, worse, if the bill is correct. One waitress even neglected to return my credit card and then suggested that it was my fault or someone else's. I blame the management for not properly training the staff; we rarely dine there anymore. I should add that two waitresses we had were very attentive to detail.
