    Chicky oriental salad (part)

Another Clark get together! Eleven of us to eat please. We got a newer waitress and she actually did really good for all of of! She kept the drinks a coming. No one was empty and she checked on us often. It was a Saturday nite and quite busy too. Must be payday..??!! Lol. Anyway out of appitizers and food there were 3 mishaps with the food. That's why the three stars. We ordered chicken oriental salad. His had no dressing.. another steak order was bloody. He sent it back to be recooked and it was still red but he ate most. No bacon on a bacon burger & one gals steak on the salad was undercooked too! Sooo the manager came out after we were done and all got discounts. Other than that WE all had a good time and were loud of course. Yelling across the tables and we were getting up and seeing one another haha.

Lisa, the bartender, is the best! My Grand coconut margarita.

Service is great! Food is great! Drinks are great, and stiff. Go to chili's in Macedonia.

Applebee's used to be a favorite for me and my family but they have made some menu changes that have really been disappointing! For example- The portion sizes on all of the appetizers that are part of the trio have gotten smaller. The soft pretzel sticks are skinnier than my fingers. The boneless wings were hard and not fully tossed in sauce. The only decent app was the spinach dip (and that had a rubbery layer of cheese over top they needed to be removed before eating. Rubbery, not warm bubbly melty) They other app we ordered was the salsa verde beef nachos. Gross. Completely unseasoned hamburger meat on nachos with thick raw jalapeños rings. In the picture I had already chopped up the jalapeños into smaller pieces. Also, the kids meal was $4.99 and was a single tiny cheeseburger with very few fries. Shown in the picture. Very disappointing. Save the money and skip the ciabatta bread bun and use regular cheap buns like kids prefer and GIVE 2 SLIDERS you cheapskates. Ugh. I recommend only going for the cheap drinks and skipping the food. I hear they have $1 Long Islands this month.

Oh, Applebee's, you predictable chain, you. Located in Macedonia, Ohio, otherwise know as the epicenter for hideous, soul-destroying sameness; how I despise you! Oh, where to start? For one, how does this place or its ilk remain consistently busy? Is this or the unexplainable attraction to other similar chain restaurants somehow a reflection of society? Do the people patronizing boring sameness like this strive for anything above mediocre? Simply put, what is wrong with people? Applebee's is the poster child for everything that is wrong with the overpopulated, over-the-top, un-original, flair crazed dining landscape of the mainstream American chain. Cheesy, disingenuous, robotic, intelligent-insulting wait service. Crap schmeared and strung about on the walls in a cluster-fuck fashion. The place is too happy, too bright, tables too sticky, too many kids screaming and I haven't even gotten to the food yet! I struggle to understand how THIS has become an acceptable means of dining! For whatever reason, most people fear the unknown, but find comfort in sameness. You KNOW what Applebee's offers even before you step foot in the door and what to expect. Your brain is overwhelmed with TV, radio and print ads announcing the latest un-inspiring "Pick-'N-Pair" lunch combos & "Ultimate Trios". It's the same whether you're in Singapore or San Jose, California. To most, this is comforting. To any future readers out there, please, for the love of God, try someplace new next time you dine out. You may surprise yourself. Take Little Timmy and the family out to a local Mom & Pop eatery instead. You may feel better about yourself upon leaving. At the very least, part of your soul and dignity will still be in tact.

I had written a review a long time ago that I eventually deleted due to some changes that happened…read moreat this location. This is based upon after those changes. The location has undergone some positive decor changes in the past year or so. It is much more welcoming than it was before and just feels like a place to be comfortable. Maybe it is the bar stools that make that happen. :) Best bar stools around! The afternoon crew that sits on the corner by the garage door is a great group of people who welcome in anyone to join their group and just have some fun conversation. It gets pretty comical with those guys, so be prepared. Speaking of the garage door...it opens to a very large deck area that can get pretty busy during the summers. There is a good amount of seating out there as well as some patio furniture to just sit down and relax. Inside is mostly high top tables, but there are a lot of booths for people who like that type of seating. The group of bartenders and servers are quality at this point. They do their jobs quickly, and want you to enjoy yourself.

When the best things you can say about an eating establishment is "My server was very friendly and…read morenice...when she decided to come by the table" or "Oh, yeah, they have one of my favorite, rare beverages on tap"...that's just not good overall. Definitely a sports bar with a bunch of people there for the games but the lighting was a little too low and the volume a tad too high for my preference. Not because people were cheering, but that's just how it was. I will say they had a truly eclectic array of patrons...hippies, yuppies, blue collar, white collar...that was cool to see. Now the food...their fold over (think all things pizza without the crust) was good but the Italiano Philly...though amazing in thought...not so much in execution. The amount of toppings was great but on such little bread that you couldn't pick it up without the lettuce and tomatoes falling off. Normally not an issue but the Philly was loaded with such salty ingredients that without the "salad" the sandwich was so salty that it literally burned my tongue and throat. It took 20 minutes to receive both tap drinks...the first one came at 5 minutes. The other took 15. It was about 40 minutes until the food came out. Cold. Flaccid, unseasoned fries. Disproportionate sandwich. An hour for subpar food and service....that's just not my thing.
