Not so good, fairly disappointing. Applebee's can be hit and miss, but this location really seems to strike out. Although my last experience here wasn't completely horrible, it was well below expectation. Service was attentive, but the server seemed rushed and annoyed most of the time. My friend didn't get a straw and our server was frustrated at her request for one. She was told to look in her silverware bundle, but guess what, there was NO straw in there! It wasn't particularly busy either, so that attitude didn't make a lot of sense. After we turned down extra drinks for a second time, our waitress seemed even more frustrated and was ready for us to leave. Speaking of drinks, the patron margarita is lacking here, so I opted to try a "mucho size" summer squeeze this time. The drink was refreshing, but way too watered down. Half of the glass was ice too, so it ended up working like an average sized drink at best. No wonder why I didn't order a second one, I wasn't going to waste the money. The food was okay, but options were limited. They didn't even have guacamole, which seemed ridiculous. If I could give a -5 I could. Ordered a small sirloin medium. First one was overdone for well done. Second one apparently went to the wrong table. Third was raw. In town for business and went to a "known" venue. Service was excellent. Seated immediately, greeted at our table within 15 seconds. Drinks came within 5 minutes and were excellent (had the Sangria). I had SW Steak Salad, the steak was cooked exactly med-rare, salad was fresh and quite large. Waitress checked back with us several times during the meal. Used to be a fair place to eat in town, but the past couple of times that we've been there it's been disappointing. They don't have physical menus out, despite every other restaurant in town having them, and the service in there is awful. So, you will have a tough time loading in the virtual menu. The worst Applebee's I have ever been too, and one of the worst restaurants in Liberal. My steak was a little over seasoned, but not much to complain about, but it was over cooked well beyond rare, how I ordered it. My girlfriends bourbon chicken was so over seasoned that you could smell the cayenne pepper from across the booth. The simple combo sample, the mozzarella sticks were over done and the cheese was grainy and stiff, and the buffalo wings were cold in the center. The mac and cheese you could tell was basic box brand. The service was not even close to good. One person at the table sat there for 15 mins with an empty drink, but seemed like a common theme for the whole restaurant, because when I went to the restroom I noticed several people had empty drinks. The popcorn shrimp I ordered tasted like frozen chicken nuggets. I have eaten at this location 5 times and can honestly say I have had one good experience. If you're in the area and just have to have Applebee's, take the trip to either Dodge city or Garden city. I gave it two stars instead of one, because the manager did comp part of the meal. read more

Been a few times, and my food is always wrong! Service slow, ok service. This place was one of my more favorite places to eat 10 years ago, now the menu got rid of many of their signature dishes and the service is just eh. They do have promotional drink specials, like $1 Long Island or margaritas. They have them premixed and it's nothing special, but cheap drink specials sometimes. They are usually pretty clean, and I always appreciate that. read more

Service was amazing !!! Evita and shaylee were amazing at coming and checking up on the tables and very sweet and attentitive. We were traveling from KC to Albuquerque and saw billboard for this Applebee's...decided we'd eat here (as there's no other sit down restaurant in the vicinity)... BAD DECISION all around... reasons why: hard to find this location; NO HOT WATER IN RESTROOMS (prompts asking if there's even hot water in kitchen); terrible tasting food and beverages as well as very small portions (we ordered boneless buffalo wings and wonton tacos); discourteous, unfriendly and unprofessional employees; and above all, unsanitary and not clean. read more

We usually stop here on our way through when we travel from Minnesota to Phoenix as it is Half way. Probably won't stop again. Our food was lukewarm at best and portion sizes really small. So disappointed but luckily there are many other choices around Liberal. We should have checked the reviews first because they confirm what we found today also. Can't recommend this place. read more

Everything was decent until tonight. Ordered Bourbon Street chicken and shrimp, got the order to pick up. Got it back to hotel, missing shrimp!!! They didn't give me an itemized receipt which I needed as well. Went back to same girl who gave me the food to go, who also said "sorry for the wait it's chaos back there".. told her I didn't get the shrimp, she said "sorry about that" and did not correct the mistake or give me a credit... I asked for the receipt that was itemized, and she dug in the trash found crumpled up tickets, and gave me my crumpled up receipt...so what satisfaction did I get out of this? None! I am really disappointed. I thought this would be my restaurant away from home on the road, but NO more!!! read more

We live in the Texas panhandle, where there are no restaurants, super markets, etc. We come to Liberal a few times a month to shop at Dillons Market, Dollar Tree, and Walmart. About once a month we go to Applebee's. I have never experienced such a variety of qualities with the food, food prep, and service. I have lived in Los Angeles, Denver, and Phoenix, plus traveled to major cities on business before retirement a few years ago; so I do have "experience" in a variety of dining locals. I was surprised that there is no place in which to make a review on the Applebee's website but Yelp is a great place to voice opinions. Bottom line, out of the past four visits...one was great, one was okay, and two were bad. The ratings I have seen for this restaurant are very low. Wonder if we should find a new place to "dine". read more

I havent been here to eat in 2 years because last time i went it was terrible. Todays my birthday and all I wanted was a good salad and baked potato so I chose to give it another chance. Everything was wrong with our meal. The kids didnt get yogurt only strawberries because they ran out, my dads meal came at least 30 minutes after ours, I waited 15-20 minutes for sour cream for my baked potato... the list goes on. The manager was more focused on watching football then chevk on customers.. Then we got charged for a some kind of a chocolate lava cake which we didnt order or get. I will not be going again. Double barrel steaks were seasoned well. If u get mashed potatoes, be sure to get them "loaded!" Amazing~ Best part about Applebee's is the Perfect Margarita. It has 1800 Reposado instead of that other cheap crappy tequila. $8-$9 each but you'll only need 2 of them. Lol I'll be back~ read more

Not good, stopped here while passing through Liberal. I made a bad mistake and ordered a slightly PINK burger. The menu states that it will be cooked to 185 degrees where as 160 is deemed to be safe. But they obviously were NOT. An hour and a half I was horribly ill with terrible vomiting and diarrhea. I got no sleep and had to drive 8 hours next day still holding a cup in which to vomit. Food is always good but service has gotten terrible. Went in and walked out 5 minutes later. Empty tables all over the restaurant and when asked why we weren't getting seated was told they couldn't seat us until the servers caught up. Take your pick. Decent service with horrible food. Or decent food with horrible service. I have visited numerous times and have not had a single positive experience. The staff tends to cater to other teenagers and leave the older generations to fend for ourselves, and I mean that this distinction includes everyone 25 and older. My husband and I have eaten there and received incorrect food, cold food, and just down right foul tasting food. I would never recommend that someone attempt this establishment. read more

i am 61 yrs old. I Took my daughter out for a birthday meal..I always order a margarita at Applebee's, usually the perfect margarita. I ordered a mucho margarita.instead. The drink arrived...no salt on the rim of the glass, I took a drink, and almost gagged. It had an overwhelming sour tang. I sent it back and asked for a perfect margarita instead. The drink arrived. I took a drink. Same exact flavor. I asked the waitress to return the second drink and bring me a white peach sangria instead, thinking obviously that this was not the night for a margarita. A couple of minutes later, the college age manager came over and asked if I had sent my drink back. I said "yes". He then told me that he was not going to furnish me with drinks. It was not allowed for him to "buy me alcohol". I said the drinks were not good and he replied "but they were made, so you have to pay for them." I said that I would leave and he said that he would call the police. He then, after all this had already transpired, asked what was wrong with the drinks and I told him.. At this time, he offered to make one himself which I would have to pay for in addition. We're looking at approximately $30 just for drinks now. So he makes one, and, low and behold, it's the customary Perfect Margarita. I think the bartender just dumped the first rejected drink into a shaker and sent it back out to me. I accepted it, ate my steak as fast as possible and left. This was extremely embarrassing for me as many people had the privilege of witnessing the scene the manager made. It will be a cold day before I return. read more
