Dear Applebee's Management, I visited your restaurant recently, and while I was initially greeted politely by the host and found the restroom to be clean, my overall experience was very disappointing. I chose to sit at the bar and waited about 5-8 minutes before being acknowledged. During that time, I noticed balled-up paper on the floor behind the bar and that much of the bar top appeared unclean. Two other guests were also expressing frustration that the bartender had only come by once and that one of their desserts was served cold. When the bartender finally approached, she provided me with a menu and took my drink order. However, after preparing my drink and setting it down, I saw a small roach crawling on the glass. I immediately informed the bartender and decided to leave the restaurant. This was, unfortunately, the most unsanitary Applebee's I have ever visited. I hope management takes this feedback seriously to ensure that cleanliness and service standards are improved. read more

I'm by far the least picky when it comes to food nor leaving reviews even at a sub par restaurant. But this one got me. I ordered the artichoke dip, came out cold. It came back out after sitting in the microwave now burnt to a crisp forming in the edges. I ordered the butter garlic chicken and shrimp. It tasted like the kitchen staff just dumped a jar of garlic powder on it and burnt to a crispy topping. Spaking of the kitchen staff I understand why it tastes like it does, all I hear is a kitchen full of people yelling and cussing each other to the point we can hear it in the restaurant. Probably the worst meal and experience I've had in a while at any restaurant. read more

We use to love Applebees. They modified their menu and really stopped caring about how food is packaged for takeout. The food just not good, it was what we ordered, but didn't taste like anything. We will give them one more go, but it was substandard for $78. read more

I bought a salad on Tuesday and it's was disgustingly, There were a bowl full of lettuce and onions one little boneless chicken breast on top, this is my second time getting disappointed read more

Good food and the place looks decent and clean. It's typical expectations for an Applebee's. The server was friendly and the restaurant was not particularly busy. By the time our sandwiches came out I was asking my bride "How long does it take to grill a couple pieces of chicken?" The cooks were definitely slow. Would I come back? Given the choices in the area, probably, but there are better restaurants in the immediate area. For us, coming here was the convenience of being able to park a large RV in the parking lot. If I'm driving that rig again in this area, I have a couple choices, coming to Applebee's or parking in the Wally World parking lot and walking somewhere else. Convenience can win sometimes. :) read more

When I am traveling for work I sit at the bar. Well the bartender was never around and was not personable at all. Rush Rush on the order and not one smile to greet the customer. Food was so so typical Apple Bees food. Stay away on a Sunday for sure. read more

Excellent food - hubby & my rib entree simply delicious- hot freshly prepared. Our other party had the south west chicken salad bowl- a spectacular salad - layered with the chicken throughout the salad - enough for a take home meal.Adequate convenient free accessible parking. This location is very close to a major interstate and situated among other shopping experiences. Our server was pleasant - efficient- just the service a little slower than expected but okay. This location is one of hubby 's and my favorite places to eat- whether lunch or dinner - within reasonable driving from the Research Triangle Area! read more

My wife and I stopped by on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025 for dinner around 7:15pm. We were seated in a booth that was too small for myself. The hostess said that we could move to a table which gave us a different waitress. I watched the waitress clear two tables, refresh two drinks, and take payment from customer. it took her over 20 minutes to acknowledge us at the table. After finally taking our drink order it was another 5 minutes before we received them, it was another 10 minutes before she took our order. At 8:00 we still had not received a simple house salad. So we gets up and leave. She did not want to wait on us, guess why! read more

Two stars because the female bartender Trey was amazing. Walking in two gormless employees confronted me; "90 minute wait sir!" I said i will sit at the bar. "The bar is full!" Three seats open at the smallest bar ever. Food was awful. Drinks good. Trey is amazing. Worst ever in the history of crappy chain restaurants. read more

We came to the restaurant at about 7:18pm. It was not busy at all. We had to wait to be seated. Nobody was at the hostess desk except other customers waiting. We stood there about 10 minutes before anyone came. We were seated (the place was freezing BTW) and the waitress came to take our drink order. 15 more minutes before those came. Then ordered dinner, 2 cheeseburgers. 30 minutes more for those to come. Our waitress had 3 tables. Waited for bill. She didn't come back so I finally took the payment to her. Needless to say it was piss poor service. The food was ok. Won't be going to that place again. read more

This restaurant does not even deserve one star. We went for dinner and after almost two hours the only item we received was a marginal spinach dip that took almost an hour to arrive to our table. The nearly empty restaurant had empty tables that were dirty, dirty floors a server that basically ignored us. The servers were all putting their stations away and even started placing chairs on the tables and they did not even close for almost two hours. We finally decided to leave and the manager or other servers just watched us get up and leave and offered us no resolution for our horrible and unnecessary experience. Do yourself a favor and just grab a meal at the Arby's next door, which is what we ended up doing. It was fresh and hot and we had great service. read more

To the waitress hollering about corporate, your tip was going to be a lot bigger but instead you were at our table admonishing us over seasonless meat and 10 crusty ahh hard ahh shrimp but you missed out today because the only one that was even saying anything was you. Ok, so if you are going to the the Applebee's in the strip mall corridor surrounded by cheap hotels, you probably aren't going there for the ambience or the food, you are going for convenience. Don't. It is not convenient. My friend and I sat ourselves at the bar after waiting at the hostess station for about five minutes. We watched no fewer than eight severs standing behind the bar, gossiping, and ignoring everyone in sight. We left the bar and scrounged some menus which is more difficult than it sound as the floor was so dirty that we were sticking to it. After nearly twenty minutes without anyone so much as acknowledging us- much less gettin our order, we opted for gas station beer and fast food. Again, if you are going to this Applebees, it is because you are out of town. Don't. Save yourself the time, headache, and the soles of your shoes and go to the perfectly adequate Shell station down the road. read more

My wife and I stopped in on Saturday night (1/18/25) as we were headed to Chesapeake for my daughter's gymnastics tournament. We've not had Applebees in years but we were pleasantly surprised! Everyone seemed very friendly and genuine. Great meal and service! read more

I knew better than to eat at Applebee's. I have never been a fan. But hungry and desperate I took a chance. I order nachos, minus the chicken or beef add shrimp. This particular place uses a answering service to take call in orders. The caller couldn't quote me a price for the added shrimp. She said they will tell me when I pick up. I arrive at take out and a waiter comes to my car and was quoted $20, cool. Luckily I check food before leaving. Beef nachos with shrimp in a cup. Now I have to go in, which I was trying to avoid. I speak with Mgr and he said let me make it over, it only take a few minutes. So back to my car I go. After 22 mins I walked back in. The Mgr said please don't tell me you're still waiting. Yes sir I am. Although he refunded me my money..this is still not acceptable or worth $20. Like it's a damn joke. The queso was put in cup. Sour cream and guacamole in separate cups. All of that was cool..but my food looking like this...a damn mess. Really they over charge me big time. The shrimp was $5.99 but they charge $12.79 for nachos and this is what I got. PLEASE DO BETTER. IF I WAS EATING INSIDE, WOULD YOU HAVE SERVED ME THIS?? read more

This past Thursday has truly been a troubling time. We had a young female server, I think her name was Brit or Brittany, but if this is her first server job she should definitely leave. We waited for hours to be served after being sat, and it seemed like she ignored all the black tables and focused solely on white customers. If it wasn't for management the review would definitely be lower read more

Our server Brittany was amazing despite the fact that she was 1 of 2 servers for the entire restaurant. Food was great even though it took 3 hours for the kitchen to cook it. The manager Juanita was hateful and nasty to our server. She gave another table dinner for free and attempted to let us leave without paying for our drinks. Juanita then sat at a dinner table, on her personal cellphone. Management is the problem at this restaurant. This was the location in South Hill Va. read more

Horrible. We stopped off and did the carry out. We placed our order and waited and waited and waited. We just left our food never came after an hour. If you are looking for good service this is not the place to stop while on a road trip. read more

PLease stay away! Service at this place is worse than Yetrible Cooks can't get it right. Yeah. They will take it back to kitchen, but, getting it back is not going to happen. Then this mean faced lady came out and said your plate is coming out now, after 35mins that I'd been waiting the 2nd time Every body had finished eating and I'm waiting on a burger with no cheese. She gave me a refund with a very sour look. AVOID! U have been warned! read more

I only gave one star because I had to. The service here was absolutely awful. The waitress sat us and did not give silverware but when our food came out we asked for some and she complained that we weren't sat with silverware. I guess she forgot she sat us? The place was EMPTY but our food took forever to come out and she continued to ignore us. we had finished our food and pushed our plates neatly to the the edge and they sat there for about 10-15 minutes. she came over to us and finally asked if we needed the check but then helped two other tables before even going to get the check. comes out with the check and puts the check in the dinner plate pile instead of taking the plates. she then takes a seat behind us where her manager had sat the entire time just complaining about her staff instead of helping her incompetent staff out. finally I turned around to tell her we really had to get going to give her the check and card. she comes back 5 minutes later to ask who's card it was and "sign this for me". rude, awful, incompetent Go to Lucas if you want good service. read more

Stop in for a quick burger before heading back to NC and this place is a mess. The server didn't smile when she greeted us. She brought the drinks- took our order and we didn't see her again. We ordered the whiskey burger medium well and when it finally came out , it was bright pink and had a weird taste. My fries were rubbery and Luke warm. I waved down a mgr who was nice and offered to get me more fries which took forever. We decided to leave- I flagged down another mgr and asked her to take the order off my bill. We were leaving. She did and we left. The fresh hot fries did come out as we were paying for the burger my husband managed to eat. We both had a terrible taste in our mouth all the way back home. Also the place is very nasty. The ceilings are black. They had the shades pulled down so it was dark in there but we wanted some sunlight. When we lifted the shade we could see how nasty this restaurant really was. Do better Applebees- there's not many restaurants in this area and this one suck. Mgmt did try to make things right so that's why they got 2 stars. read more

We went in on Saturday evening (before 7p.m.) I ordered an adult beverage and asked for a water with my meal. We were given plastic utensils in plastic wrapper. Not sure why, other tables had real silverware, Felt like we were at a fast food establishment. During our meal, our tea glasses had been empty for an extended time period. We had to ask for refills. Once she finally returned with the teas, my husband asked about my water. He told her it was difficult to eat without a beverage to wash it down. She indignantly asked if she needed to get the manager for a glass of water. We said "yes". The manager came over to the table and was very apologetic. He assured us he would be taking care of us. We NEVER saw him again! Tip #! for waitresses: Tip is commiserate with attention given to empty beverage glasses.... always! The neighborhood was not a pleasant atmosphere last night! read more

It's been a number of years since I've been to an Applebee's. So let me start off with this was a very pleasant surprise. Very clean venue. So much so, almost unbelievable. We were greeted and seated immediately to a comfortable booth. Plenty of flat screens for your viewing pleasure. I ordered the Crispy Brewhouse Chicken with stout gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, cheddar and crispy onions. The chicken was very crispy and cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were also incredible. This dish went quite weill with my Patron Magarita! I will be visiting the South Hill area rather frequently, so this one is a keeper for me. read more

Did not hold up the AppleBee nationwide standard for "good service good food". Kitchen was under staffed. My BBQ entree was served Luke warm (after a 30 minute wait) and not tender. I must acknowledge that this is the cleanest Applebee's I've ever been in. It literally smells like good industrial soap. And they played really great music. I wish I could give this place 0 stars! Piece of crap place! I really believe the workers in this place didn't give a F about Life at all! My friend and I went for a quick bite to eat and was so disappointed. Applebee's has never been anything to brag about but this has to be the worst location I had been to. She and I sat at the bar waiting to be served and it was disgusting. We thought she would at least clean the bar off but she didn't, she placed menus in front of us in puddles of water on the counter. What the H***! We didn't even want to touch them because they were filthy as well. We decided to have a beer and left. Worst establishment! read more

AVOID AVOID. So yes the wait was 30 mins long to get seated for a less than half filled restaurant. So we get to our booth and the table is sloppy wet And the seats had food and grease all over. The waitress apologized but what I don't get she was the one that bused the table. So we order because we had 30 mins to look at the menu. Our appetizer comes out. That was decent. The meal comes out. Order boneless wing special. Got that add maybe just maybe a 1/4 cup of fries. No slaw. Oriental salad was spoiled the cabbage mix was spoiled. The little pieces of grill chicken were rubber somethings. They don't even make the grilled chicken there. I say something to the waitress and her words " oh. Sorry I will let them know" didn't take it off the bill didn't say let me get you something else. Waitressing is hard but can be very $$ but you have to be good or at least half good to make any tips. We paid and my guest left a tip. I wouldn't have. I didn't. Just stay away from this Applebees management and the corporation of Applebees do not care. read more

Worst treatment I've ever received by a restaurant GM, no less! I ordered bourbon steak; food arrived promptly; brought out by the host! Food looked like a 5 year-old prepared it! Onion slices were huge and coarsely cut-up; HORRENDOUS PRESENTATION!!!Mushrooms barely warm! Mentioned it to my server, who apologized and shook her head when I showed her;said she would've never brought food to the table looking like that; she left, saying she'd get the manager,"Joe"--he comes over ; I show him the messy unappetizing onions and plate in general; he sarcastically states, " that's why you have a knife"--and saunters arrogantly off-Ignoring my calling after him, "sir","sir"--I promptly picked up my purse and left this Applebee's, the knife, the food, and Joe and --after only 1bite. I'm more than a little surprised at this Applebee's current rating. I went in somewhat warily but walked away completely satisfied, wondering why others are scoring so low. The person showing us to our table was admittedly less-than-enthusiastic but our waitress was on point. Pleasant personality, knew her way around the menu, and checked up on us just the right amount. I had to ask for a knife (not sure why they weren't provided outright) but she was very responsive and quickly returned with one. Our drinks never ran out and the timing of each part of the meal (appetizer/ entree/ dessert) seemed just right. I ordered the fiesta lime chicken. The last few times I've gone to Applebees (usually in NC) and ordered this dish, I've been let down, so I was nearly ecstatic at how this crew pulled it off! Very tender chicken, mouth-watering sauce, everything looking very lightly seared under a broiler. Absolutely delicious. The rice was flavorfully seasoned, rounding the meal out well. The second surprise came with dessert. I ordered the Triple Chocolate Meltdown, expecting a molten lava cake but not sure of what I'd get quality-wise. I've made similar things and found the "sweet spot" on my own - a certain fluffiness in the cake that can be hard to get just right. Again, the staff members delivered. Very fluffy cake, awesome chocolate flavors, excellent presentation. I'm definitely glad that we looked past the current review average and gave this place a chance! Had a great meal at a great price, and this location has restored a bit of my faith in Applebees altogether! This place is going to be part of my restaurant rotation for the area from now on! read more
