My wife and I used to eat at Applebee's with some frequency. But that was twelve to fifteen years ago, and since that time we have seen a continuing move away from customer service and quality in the products Applebee's sells. A few years ago while on one of our regular trips to the Jasper, Indiana area to visit my wife's family, many of our regular restaurant locations were closed when we stopped to grab a late dinner. Not wanting fast food, we decided to stop at this Applebee's location on the North end of town. Our experience and continued experiences here have made this a regular stop for us. We were greeted as we walked in the door by two young ladies who genuinely seemed to enjoy their job instead of the typical attitude displayed by so many service workers who seemed put out for having to look up from their phones. The entire server and bar staff were engaging, friendly, and helpful during our visit, and when we made a special order to accommodate my wife's dairy allergy, they took our requests seriously. It is a very comfortable place to relax, unwind from the road, and enjoy a meal and cold beer before heading to our hotel for the night. The food has been excellent on each visit and prepared perfectly. Portion sizes are huge, so I usually order off the appetizer menu and have always left satisfied. My wife loves their Chicken Oriental Salad. They also offer a full selection of ice-cold draft beers in either 16-ounce or 22-ounce glasses. A perfect treat to finish out a long day traveling. We will return here as long as they continue to offer the service and quality they do. read more

Went for a late dinner at 8:00 pm. We were seated promptly, and the service was great! We did have the "Perfect Margarita" which was the special for the night. not sure why it was perfect as it tasted like cheap tequila, and it was on special for $10? Not a special price to me. Food was good and we received our bill in plenty of time with no rush. Overall, great experience. Just need to step up on their "specials" pricing and maybe put a little more effort into making the Perfect Margarita a little more close to actually being perfect. read more

I tried ordering food for delivery on 9/25/2022 with door dash. The ordered was never picked up and I reached out to door dash about the issue as well as your store. The next day I received a voice-mail from Lisa the manager and I called and spoke with her about the issue. She told me that if the money for my ordered didn't get refunded to give her a call back because she wanted to make sure I received my money back since I didn't get my food. I checked my bank account and it never got refunded. I tried to call the store and the lady acted like she had know idea what I was talking about and acted like there was no one there by that name. I just want my money back and for that person to know that it's very rude to make a customer feel like they are stupid. I have visual voice-mail and it clearly shows me the person I spoke with last week was Lisa the manager. read more

I feel like I've been transported back to my childhood, all the standard family restaurants in my hometown have gone downhill and I feels great to eat in a Applebees again like I did with my parents as a child. Food-wise, it was a typical Applebee's experience, no complaints. That's one of the reasons why when traveling, I don't mind hitting up a chain restaurant because the food is mostly consistent from location to location. The service was horrendous. I wish I knew the name of our server, but I don't even know if she ever gave it. When approaching our table, all she said (totally straight faced with no emotion) was "drinks." When we would ask her questions we would get one word answers: Me: (ordering a salad) "Do you have thousand island?" Server: No. Me: "How about balsamic?" Server: No. (long pause since I kinda expect her to tell me what dressings they offer. Nothing.) Me: "Why don't you just tell me what dressings you have." Server: (gives dirty look) That was pretty typical of the entire experience. No one came after our food was served to ask how things were or if we needed anything. After she brought the checks, she pointed to the electronic payment terminal we had moved over to the window ledge and says "you can pay with that," then turned around and walked away. Now, I hate paying with those things. Part of dining out is to have someone take care of those things for you and that is part of the service. With that (usually good) service then comes a really good tip. Customers should not have to do part of your job. Plus, I had initially wanted to pay cash, and this forced me to have to see someone and flag them down which I was not patient enough to do. By this point in the evening I just wanted to leave. Two stars because the food was edible and the orders were relatively correct. It was the only redeeming part of the experience. There are other restaurants in Jasper that have better service. The following day I ate at Taco Bell and it was delightful. read more

OK, I am not a fan of fast casual dining restaurants and only stopped in for a quick bite as I was tired, hungry and cranky (hangry). So, I stopped in and ordered the cajun salmon. I was pleasantly surprised when my dinner arrived, it was hot, fresh and yes, believe it or not, good! So in a land of regular food, I have found the slightly better then regular food. Place was really almost empty, but the service was so-so anyway. I wasn't in a hurry so I didn't care that much. We both ordered the Asian chicken salad and water (both on diets). Waitress promised bread sticks later. The salads tasted OK, but the veg parts seemed like they were a bit old and limp. Later the waitress brought us the breadsticks. I smelled something odd and it was the breadsticks, they smelled like they had been smoked in a trash burner. An odd chemical, bad smell and tasted (yes I tasted them) just as bad. When waitress brought us check, I said "These aren't right, something is off on the smell and taste". She took them and said "OH, I'll have to try another one in the back because I eat these all the time. Thanks." ? ? ? I mean, hello? We both tried them and they tasted bad. And nothing more was said to us about that and no comps on the meal, no explanation or a free order of new breadsticks. Zilch. She took our money and that was that. And getting our change took about 15 minutes in an almost-empty place. Then, (no surprise here) when I got home, I had the screaming you-know-whats. Three times in a row. If I could give zero stars I would. I came in and ordered a Thai Chicken Salad. Only to find after a few bites a nut and washer in my salad! No kidding!! I took a photo of it!! I told the server and she seemed embarrassed and went in the kitchen. She came back out later and snatched the plate from me. Ten minutes later some guy came out who didn't identify himself and spoke real low. Told me he had no idea how that would have got in there. Said we will take care of your meal and then left. That was it. Seriously. Did not swan apologetic or sorry at all. I literally just got up and left. Still hungry wondering where the damn nut went and if I had ingested that part!!! Came with my family, waited 15 minutes just for drinks. Then had to wait and extra 10 minutes for a beer and a shake. We were a party of 5. There were maybe 10 other people in the building. We waited another 20 minutes just for our dinner order. Then finally got our meal about an hour and ten minutes after we arrived. Our waitress, Kendra, spent all her time talking to some guy in a booth. She didn't even bring us the food. The kitchen manager spent more time making sure we were satisfied than the waitress. Oriental Salad was good, and generous size. Potato soup was very good, but very small portion. Service was well, not great. First, they did not have the beer I wanted, which was okay, I ordered a different brand. And the server (a different one) brought my beer and slammed it down on the table like she was pissed off about something. But on my bill they also charged me for the beer (4.49) that they said they didn't have ! Server took care of that and brought me a new bill. Fine, but then I notice they charged me 1.99 for some kind of electronic trivia game that was on the table. Well, first, there is nothing on it that says it costs to play, and secondly, I pushed ONE button to try it but NOTHING ever happened. I did not call server over, just wrote a note on my bill, and left. There are better places to eat, with better service, for the same $$. read more

Over the years I've eaten here dozens of times. I live locally. Generally when I read Yelp reviews I think it's unfair for a person to expect perfection from a restaurant and then post negatively when their expectations fall short. First of all, this is Applebees. It's not a gourmet New York restaurant or a trendy California cafe. So if you're expecting an Applebees type experience you'll be pleased. They've had consistently good food and service. The wait staff is well trained and management is on top of things. Today I told the server that I drink a lot of tea. She brought me two right away, which I appreciate. ( I eat out for lunch nearly daily and this place does better than others at keeping drinks filled). Speaking of tea, years ago when my wife and I came here every Monday for lunch my wife was on a restricted diet and couldn't have caffeine. But she loved tea. When the manager learned of this he acquired decaf tea just to have on hand for my wife. That manager is still here and just as considerate as before. You don't get that type of consideration everywhere. read more

A horrible experience as far as food goes. Greasy fried fish, liquid Tartar sauce, hardened and chewy mozzarella sticks, gristly dried out steak on salad, inedible cole slaw, overly peppered chimichurri making food inedible. The waiter was cocky and insincere, and seemed to delight in his schtick. The whole thing stunk of s badly managed restaurant with an incompetent and unsanitary kitchen. So gross. read more

My boyfriend and I go to this place frequently just because we love thier appetizers. This time I ordered riblets. The sauce was great but my riblets were more bone than meat. and somehow a mushroom and a potato piece found its way on my skillet? I try to give every establishment the 3 strike rule. And for Applebee's they struck out. First occasion the appetizers were obviously cooked in advance to prepare for the dinner rush because they were not only cold but stale. My 2nd attempt was at the entree, the fish were obviously deep fried twice. I assume this because I spent 5 years as a cook and I've ran into twice cooked fish and chips before. My final attempt was on 8-5-2016. I typically understand that steak can be a tough meat if not aged or prepared properly. They consistency of the pepper steak was that of cheap bubblegum. And words can't describe that unless you're using top shelf tequila a margarita is never $9. On top of all that we had to drink from Styrofoam cups and eat our appetizers off napkins. While they didn't have the employees to bus and wash there were 5 uniformed workers out back yelling and smoking. The management of this establishment is in need of serious renovation. read more
