They sat my girlfriend and I. Nobody checked on us for 20 minutes as we sat around, hungry, waiting for anyone to come and even offer us water. They were NOT busy. Servers walked past us multiple times in the section, there was only one other table in ours. Got up and left, on the way out the ladies at the hostess stand didnt even ask what's wrong, or why we left after not being served. That's how I knooooowww they were on some BS. Make sure you check your bill and account after leaving. We ordered to go and the next day got a notification from our bank that our charged amount was changed. They added themselves a tip without consent or my knowledge. Spoke to the manager and they refunded us the extra tip but who knows how many times this fraud has happened and gone unnoticed, if I didn't get the alert from my bank, I would have never even known. I have been inside Applebee's in Goldsboro, NC at night before, and seen employees smoking dopw outside on the side. Waitresses working, wearing no uniform, under the table (I heard her tell her friend she wasn't employed there, but she just helped out on weekend nights, and got paid directly by the manager. I went in tonight and ordered a cheeseburger and fries and tea. Every time one of the waitresses looked at me, they did so rudely. That unemployed waitress was there, walking into the kitchen, and waiting on tables. I kept flagging my waitor down for a tea refill, but he'd just look at me and ignore me. I finally went up to the bar and asked where was my waiter was, I wanted a refill. Some big middle aged waitress came out and told me he was busy, that I needed to sit down up front and wait till he came out. The manager (I assume), dressed in gang street clothes, a big 300 pound, 6'3 black man, came out and told me I was making the waitresses uncomfortable when I looked at them. Place needs a face-lift badly. Looked like it was dirty walking through the front door. Food was OK but felt it was overpriced. I could have got a quesadilla at taco bell that would have been better and cheaper. Sorry I came in 25.00 not counting tip. I have reviewed several Applebee's locations this past year because I do travel quite a bit. I do find some of the other limited reviews of this location to be unfair. As I have stated in other reviews of most franchised restaurants, this place with never win any Michelin Stars......and they are not trying too. They serve an easy to prepare menu of decent food at very good price. There are no $30 steaks on the menu and does not have things that most American can not pronounce. As usual I ordered a sirloin steak, mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The steak was done properly, the potatoes were wonderful and the broccoli was well, broccoli. Although broccoli is good for you it disapates heat rapidly so it is almost always room temperature before you get half way into your steak. If you want hot broccoli, eat it all as soon as it comes to you. Do not blame the servers if it gets cold faster than you consume it. The servers can not change the physics of heat disapation. As for the complaint of still felt hungry when you left....order more food. They are not going to adjust portion size to each individual's expectation of portion size. I am 6'2" and 210. I have never even remotely thought about complaining about portion size. For desert I was asked to try new caramel bites. Not having a menu in front of me I said okay. When my exceptional bartender Crystal recommended them I said okay. When they arrived I instantly realized they were the pretzel bites I ordered in Sanford, NC the previous month. Difference is that this desert is completely different in all aspects....taste and presentation. Presentation was beautiful and inviting. And the taste was exceptional. This is my new desert at Applebee's and now knowing their standard I will not except anything less from another location. If this place was really as bad as what other reviewers wrote, I would not come back. But I actually know better. I have been coming to this location for years before I started Yelping and I thought that I should actually formulate a review for this place. Lastly I gave this location a review of 5 stars. By no means is this a 5 star restaurant but felt i had a responsibilty to rectify worthless low ratings that were completely unjustified. In reality, it is comparably a 4 star restaurant compared to others restaurants of its type. A four star rating here means that this restaurant does its job and does it well. If this style of food is not your taste and level of service meets your standards, then do not come here. But if you do after reading this and decide to leave negative comments or reviews then you really need to adjust you expectation level to a reality that is at what franchise America serves too. My brother and I dined at this Applebee's last night. As weary travelers , we were in no rush and relaxed at the spacious large tables in the bar area. Our experience was fine. The waitress was working hard- she never stopped moving. However, she was clearly overwhelmed . Large groups kept rolling in as it was at least one high school graduation in the area. I counted four severs, one barkeep, one manager, and hypothesize one cook. The BBQ ribs were tender and sticky. The wing appetizers had a surprising kick. The vodka tonics were nothing special- did have to ask for lime in my second- but they were cold and refreshing. Reasonably priced and friendly service with classic American grill fare- Applebee's is a of course a go to dining option. This particular location does seem to be understaffed and the service was slow- although our young waitress was working hard and friendly- I still must deliver a three star verdict. read more

However , the steak was severely undercook and when sent back it was brought back looking the exact same, the grill was too hot. The bathrooms were clean but had a very big gap in the stall doors allowing no privacy. Waitress brought the wrong drink and had an airpod in her ear. Card reader went down so everything else slowed more. Went to rest room before departure and it was nasty as hell. This is only an hour open and there's no paper towels and piss all over the floor. If I would've came in there first then I wouldn't be telling this story cause we would be gone. Asked a staff member about the rest room and she said that wasn't her job to monitor the men's room. The waitress/bartender knew what I was talking about and talked to her manager who came out and told me that he could do it because he understood what particular grill would be helpful for the rare burger/very very rare. Well I was staying at the Hampton in Goldsboro and the windchill was 12, so I just decided to call in to Applebees and get me something to go. Trying to be healthy so I go some steak black bean soup and the grilled chicken Caesar salad. Got my foo and everything was fine. I honestly don't care about food so I ain't gone be all critical of it. It's applebees. The soup was ok, not exactly what I was expecting, at least it had a little spice which I like. The salad was I guess subpar but I can't hate on it that much either. A lot of the pieces of lettuce were turning in color as if they were old, but still very edible. I'll go back next time I'm staying in Goldsboro just cuz I don't give a shit but whatever. read more

Visiting family so this is the only place w can go to for drinks in Goldsboro. Its Applebee's so the food is just what you expect (regular and blah). The staff on the other hand is something else. Our waitress was so focused on another table (laughing, playing, and engaging) that she forgot to put some of our food in. The other table was loud and just all over the place. Come to find out, they were actual employees who were off (some in uniform). This place lacks professionalism beyond belief. I went here for the first time in a couple of years about a week ago, and was pleasantly surprised. In the past this place wouldn't have earned a single star, but it looks like new management has recently taken over. The menu is standard Applebee's fare, but tasted way better than I remembered. I guess it's not difficult to improve upon utter crap, and adding to this is the current "2 meals for $20" deal--cheap night out for a couple. Part of the reason for this improvement is the vast improvement in service--waiters/waitresses are much, much friendlier and able without being overbearing. Other than that, all "Neighborhood Grill and Bar" standards apply: beer is cold, small plasma screens are mounted, cute hostess, fairly clean bathrooms, etc. I'm not expecting an exquisite dining experience when I go here. So staying at the Hampton and this location is in front of hotel. Service was great, staff was very good. Food was good. Steak was tuff, not a good cut of meat. Was a little disappointed because it was their signature dish. Was hoping for a better steak but overall it was good. My only other issue is that have a U shaped bar with one TV at the end. And it a long U. There are other TVs but the bar one is a long ways away! read more

The food came quick and our waitress was awesome...but the manager seemed drunk, dancing and singing. Maybe he was just that happy of a person. The food was horrible. So much salt we were unable to eat the vegetables. The meat was tasteless and overcooked. The burger was completely apart but was good after putting back together. A wonderful dinning experience. The staff and management were an absolute Delight. I had the all day brunch burger and onion rings and my husband had the quesadilla burger with onion rings. The food was hot fresh and excellent. I had a rum and coke which I was very pleased it was not watered down it was quite strong unlike a lot of other places. The sweet tea was not overly sweet and the atmosphere was terrific. This location has improved tenfold over the last year and we will be returning thank you Applebee's for making our date night perfect! read more
