We we're waiting over an HOUR and didn't get our main courses, 3 other tables higher then our group got seating after we ordered our food. How ever the service was decent which is the main reason it's not a 1 star sure it was crowded but it shouldn't take that long. And when the waiter came back with the check it was the whole meal! his location is the absolutely worst Applebees I've ever been to. And that's saying something. Today we stopped in at noon to get a quick bite. First we waited 10 minutes just for someone to acknowledge we were waiting to be seated. Once we ordered we then waited another 15 minutes until the appetizer came. About 10 minutes after we got the appetizer the burger got set in the window. The chicken sandwich never appeared. 45 minutes later the waitress was told the burger didn't have onion strings on it so they had to fix it There was still no sign of the chicken sandwich in the window. The waitress came to tell us what was going on, but we told her just to forget it. We didn't want it anymore. Meanwhile, three other tables got sat and within 10 minutes had their meal. Not once did they offer to comp the appetizer and beverages we had which were sodas. Not once did a manager come to our table. First off I was skeptical because of the reviews. We tried it anyway. Our server was Sarah, who was amazing!!! She was kind, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcomed. Thank you Sarah . Our food came out fast and was delicious. The blackened salmon, mashed, and broccoli was hot and didn't stand a chance against my hunger. The hubs had a rib-eye, mash, and broccoli and he said it was a good meal. It was cooked to perfection. The kiddo loved their pizza. Service is slow but amazing food. Only had 1 bad encounter with food and been here NUMEROUS times. Bathrooms are mostly clean, generally clean and the food is a bit more expensive then usual. Salad portions are small sometimes but mostly good. Only reason not 4 stars is for slow service. read more

I don't eat at Applebee's very often. Usually I find myself receiving bad food or I receive bad service whenever I eat there. Today's visit was about the same. The guy who took us to the table was awesome, though! Very friendly, happy and was very nice to my oldest son as he led us to our table. That was about the extent of the nice service. The girl who was our server took awhile to really bring us anything we ordered. We sat with empty cups for awhile and she barely came by to see how we were doing or if we needed anything. It wasn't busy either. Both waitresses that were there sat down in a booth most of the time even though we were waiting for our food and drinks. Then, the food we received was below average. My son's French fries were cold by time they came out and his hamburger was burnt badly and the buns were hard. My plate of enchiladas were extremely small and the shells they were in were way too hard and crunchy. The food took an extremely long time to come out as well and it was pretty bland and almost stale tasting on a couple items. And, it wasn't the cleanest either. The floor had food on it at places and no one was taking the time to clean it up. Overall, I won't be back to this location unless something changes. read more

Food is mediocre especially for the price. Most every visit something sets sent back. Food taste very prepackaged and warmed up. I've ordered the pasta multiple times and it's just barely been warm, they warmed it up to much and it had dried all the sauce out. Service had been ok. The ranch dressing there is so gross. It gets cheaper and cheaper and grosser and grosser every time I go to Applebee's. It tastes like they are buying the cheapest kind of ranch dressing they can find and it taste like grocery store quality, not restaurant quality. Tip: Olive Garden uses good restaurant quality ranch dressing. It tastes just like the kind that you make at home when you buy the dry hidden valley ranch mix and make it with mayonnaise and milk. That is what people want their ranch dressing to taste like. It needs to be white and creamy and savory, not yellow, sweet, and bitter. Your ranch almost always tastes rancid. It was alright overall. I went there with my girlfriend last Saturday and we got the two for twenty meal. We got the honey bbq wings which were pretty good almost like wing street wings. My entree was the honey pepper chicken and shrimp, it was awful and im not a picky eater. The green beans were tasteless and soggy and chewy the potatoes were unsalted the shrimp was all breading and barely any shrimp inside the chicken tasted like rubber amd the grill marks looked fake. The only reason I'm giving this review a 3 star is because of the dessert... it was heavenly. We got brownie bites and they were only a dollar and they were perfect 10/10. So overall meh. read more

We sat in a booth and I could see the prep station. The manager didn't have gloves on and was handling croutons, salad dressing etc. Our waitress had absolutely no idea what she was doing, she seemed like a lost puppy just wandering around absent-mindedly. The manager spent more time b.s.ing with the cooks then they did cooking. Our food came out and was okay. I ordered a new food item (Chicken and Shrimp Tequila Tango) and the avocado sauce on top was cold and made my food cold. I do not recommend this place. With all the different restaurants to choose from in Excelsior Springs my wife and I chose Applebees for dinner. We were the only customers in the place and was seated by our server Mary J. She took our drink order. My wife ordered a Whiskey Bacon Burger "without the sauce" and regular fries. I ordered the Triple Bacon Burger with "sweet potatoe fries". when the waitress delivered our food, their was sauce on my wife's burger and I received "regular fries" instead of "sweet potatoe fries". Keep in mind, my wife and I were the only ones in the restaurant at the time we placed the order. My wife asked to speak with the manager and she responded and we told her the service is unacceptable with just 2 orders. She did not offer an apology and just responded "it was an honest mistake"! I payed for our drinks and was appalled that they couldn't get just 2 orders correct. This makes Applebees as a whole look bad and we will not be visiting an Applebees again. I just want Applebees to know they are being represented by incompetent employees at the Excelsior Springs location and I will do everything in my power to relay our experience on TripAdvisor and Social Media. read more

The most crappy service ever! There was only like five other tables being waited and our server, Jenna R. wasn't even waiting on them! My husband got his glass of tea and had it almost drank before my son and I received our drinks which by the way was full completely of crushed ice that took me three sips to empty the glass, which she never came around to refill. Brought our appetizers and said she would be back with plates and never saw those. Food finally came and never asked if it was alright or anything, just left it and walked off. I quit going there. Went in one night around 9:30,(open till 12) they were cleaning floors in back, they took the hose through the food window so they could clean in front of the counter. My salad came up and they had to move the hose to put it in the window, the sat the salad in the window and moved the hose over the salad to take it out. This is hose that had been all over the floor. They waitress told them to make another one, but as I sat and watched, they put the same one back up there. I won't go back. read more
