The drinks were good and cheap. My quesadilla burger was cooked to perfection. A quick dinner out with no wait is alright with me.

Look at the picture. Guess which Salad cost more than $15.00. This was my second and last time ordering to-go. First time went smooth. Price wise and taste. This time I felt fooled with the costly tiny Applebees salad. Quinoa is a highly costly product. My suggestion, never order any salad with Quinoa. You will pay a high prices and you will feel rip off.

Hi! and greetings to all my Yelp friends. Thursday nights are good for Thursday Night Football, local neighborhood bars, cold draft beers and best friends. Local Applebee's in East Islip has always been a neighborhood favorite meeting spot. And I mean there's not one time I pass this place driving on Sunrise Highway that this parking lot is not jammed. Tonight the bar was not packed at all, I guess our local Sports teams are no longer contenders and relevant. Gas keeps spiking up and the holidays draw near. I guess I will be number one customer again for a while. As most will be pulling in their belts and pinching pennies for the next couple months. Heck ! I'm still traveling on business and have to eat, so you'll be seeing me coming on through the door. I really enjoy the neighborhood connections that Applebee's has. Each local Applebee's bar becomes part of their hometown. Applebee's celebrates their local connections with pictures of the High School sports teams, Universities and cool Long Island sites to see. Each Applebee's is different. The towns and collages on the walls will be in tune with their location. I enjoy the pick 2 for $20 Specials Applebee's features, I usually upgrade for the small $3 and get the tender baby back ribs. The meal comes with two sides I recommend the mac and cheese and a stuffed baked potato. You also have a choice of getting 2 salads or a single large appetizer to share with your friend. Your choose. I generally always sit at the bar, even to eat. This has been constantly one of my Yelp tips. If you have the option sitting at the bar, this avoids the ridiculous long wait and service is always quick and with a smile. Your server is your barmaid who's right in front of you. I see the long wait for food and service being one of the main yelpers complaints in Many restaurant reviews. This is one of the reasons my visits and reviews usually rate a little higher than other folks. The reason why is I take control and make the occasion or venue fit my needs. If I sense my dining experience isn't going well, I speak up immediately with the manager. And right away I'll have a better day! Well the service and the food here was great for a sports bar. I was very pleased and will not hesitate to come to this Applebee's again. I guess that's why this place can be sometimes crowded. Folks know where to go. Where everybody knows your name. You got to go where everybody knows your name...I'm BIG JIM !

I really appreciate the gathering and dining with friends, it was wonderful seeing those that were present. Jackson Hall American Bar & Grill offered a casual and relaxed environment as well as a formal dining experience. We had stellar service today. We came for lobster rolls. Now, I have had lobster rolls before at a Manhattan location. They were two lobster rolls, small in size. But having a lobster roll, Let me reiterate, having one lobster roll at Jackson Hall American Bar & Grill left me with a new experience and a new perspective on what lobster rolls are. Can I talk about the Maryland Lobster & crab roll. This was one huge, I mean huge lobster roll that consisted of delicious sauteed Maine Lobster and Jumbo Lump Crab meat, poached in old bay garlic butter on a toasted roll. OMGoodnes very filling and D'licious, old bay fries was an bonus enhancer for this meal. The fries were just as tasty. I would be remiss if I did not mention the mussel pot. Absolutely D'licious. The juice, the toast, perfect combination, I can eat it as a main meal just as is! Andie, Pat, Joe P, and I devoured one pot while, Same Y, Mike S, Cathie P, and Gail B, consumed their pot. Driving an hour to get to Jackson Hall American Bar & Grill was worth driving - every second, every minute, every hour, (excuse me, I was in my Lionel Richie frame of mind) to hangout with 7 other friends, elite yelpers, priceless and there's no better place or reason to... Inspire more, Yelp more!

The wings were tasty, but they were small in size. The steak was just okay. The flavor was good, but the portion was pretty small. Our favorite thing was definitely the frozen Miami Vice, half piña colada and half daiquiri. It reminded us of the frozen drinks you get in Miami by the beach. Service was great. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, checked on us frequently and showed our pup some love, which we appreciated. We enjoyed our experience and the dog friendly outdoor seating was a plus. The food was more along the lines of typical bar food, so I would say this is a good spot for drinks, wings and a casual bite rather than a destination for the food itself.

I went to their Bayshore location about a 25 minute drive from where I am... Ambience was really nice for a sports bar and they were pretty crowded but their TVs are of super high-quality. Place was packed and loud but what do you expect from a sports bar on a game day? Down to the food::: Normally I can do about six meaty wings by myself, but we tried to order the smallest portion of bone in (12) and split the sauce, but I understand that that can be a lot for the kitchen! I got 12 of the garlic Parmesan and he got 12 of the buffalo; wings are delicious and these were... I prefer a meatier wing myself but my husband likes wings on the smaller side; sauces were delicious so it was a happy medium! I ordered a burger as well and I knew I had to slow down on the wings if I even want to have remote room for the burger! Eating an every day type of butgerand this one did the job but it wasn't anything amazing and nothing to write home about! I would eat here again, but I wouldn't necessarily say I'm feigning to go back! If this place was local to my house, you could bet the ranch that I would be there more often. I was not disappointed, but I also didn't get that. Wow, factor that I was expecting.... I wanna miss food at a place that I haven't eaten at. I want that one bite that keeps me wanting more and this was a good meal, but didn't quite hit the mark as far as food experience service. Would recommend but I don't think it's worth it for the travel of 40 minutes

That was kind of the case a few weeks ago at Dark Horse Tavern in Bay Shore. I came here with some buddies for dinner on a Sunday night and things were totally fine. I mean like I said, I can't speak to anything being truly negative. Dark Horse had a relatively spacious and inviting interior with a little holiday flair. Our waitress was friendly enough and our food came at a good pace. And what I ordered wasn't too shabby...though I guess if there's anything to say about my three star feelings, it might be there. Now Dark Horse did have a decently-sized menu, but after visiting a brewery prior to this dinner trip, I was feeling something simple like a burger. Featuring a juicy Lucy sounded like a win as did the idea of Cajun fries. Those spuds were rather good, though the juicy part of said Lucy wasn't really that juicy. Despite having never been to Minnesota, I know this type of burger really needs some gooey cheese coming out of it and this one lacked that. The burger itself was good, but like an "easily-forgettable" good. The same could be said for their Dark Horse Lager beer. I've been to other Dark Horses on the island and have seen (and I believe had) this brew, but for whatever reason it just seemed very bland and basic. Perhaps after having some more elaborate beers prior my tastebuds were looking for something with more zing, but I can't say for sure. All I know is between this and the basic burger, I really didn't have anything great (or ultimately negative) to say. Overall, yeah I suppose some of that sounds negative and a three star review feels a little meh towards other prospective eaters and readers of this review, but that's me telling the truth here. If I were in Bay Shore and someone suggested Dark Horse for dinner I probably wouldn't say no because just about everything will be decent enough, but if you're specifically asking me for recommendations in the area, I'm probably going to mention a bunch of other places instead. Just sayin'.

Our server appeared to be new, but she was incredibly patient, friendly, and genuinely trying her best. She handled every question with kindness, and I truly appreciated her attitude throughout the meal. The manager also made a great first impression by greeting us shortly after we were seated and even taking our drink order himself. At that point, I honestly thought we were in for a great experience. Unfortunately, things slowly began to unravel. A few items I ordered to accompany one of our pizzas didn't come out with the pizza itself, so by the time everything finally arrived, the pizza had gone cold. While frustrating, mistakes happen, and I didn't make an issue out of it. The bigger misunderstanding involved another pizza I ordered. I was trying to order a white Grandma pie after seeing a calzone listed with the option to make it on a Grandma crust. When it arrived, it had red sauce. The manager explained that the menu description included "Grandma sauce," which referred to red sauce. I hadn't realized that, and once he explained it, I understood where the misunderstanding came from. To his credit, he immediately offered to remake the pizza, which I appreciated. At that point, I considered the issue resolved. Unfortunately, the conversation didn't end there. While discussing the original pizza, the manager explained that it had ricotta cheese on it. My initial reaction was that I hadn't noticed any ricotta, but after he explained it, I acknowledged that perhaps I had simply missed it. From my perspective, the misunderstanding had been cleared up and the conversation was over. Instead, he looked at me and said: "Maybe you don't know the difference between mozzarella and ricotta cheese." That comment completely changed the experience. There is a big difference between explaining a menu item and making a personal remark toward a customer. By that point, I wasn't arguing. I wasn't asking for anything additional. I had already accepted the explanation and acknowledged that perhaps I had simply missed the ricotta. Rather than leaving it there, the conversation became increasingly confrontational. When I explained that I found the comment disrespectful, instead of trying to de-escalate the situation, the manager continued defending it by insisting that I had argued earlier. At that point, the discussion was no longer about the pizza... it had become an unnecessary debate with a customer who had already accepted the explanation. That was the moment we decided to leave. Mistakes happen. Orders get mixed up. Menu descriptions can create misunderstandings. None of those things determine whether I return to a restaurant. What determines that is how those situations are handled. A manager sets the tone for the entire restaurant. Their responsibility isn't just to resolve problems... it's to make guests feel heard, respected, and welcome, even when there's a misunderstanding. Unfortunately, that's where this experience fell apart. The food has always been good, which is why I've returned in the past. What I'll remember from this visit isn't the pizza or the misunderstanding over the menu. It's being spoken to in a way that felt dismissive and belittling after I had already accepted the explanation. Hospitality isn't measured by how a restaurant performs when everything goes perfectly. It's measured by how it treats people when something doesn't. Unfortunately, that's the lasting impression this visit left with me.
