This Applebees used to be decent - you know what you're getting when you go there but recently it's gone down hill. My food has been cold and the smallest portions I've ever seen from an Applebees. Today I ordered the Mac and cheese with the honey pepper chicken. It had 1.5 chicken strips on it and the one that was whole was extremely skinny. My boyfriend got the all you could eat meal and the shrimp looked like they threw it in the microwave and let it warm up for 1 minute. Not what I expected for 14.99. Okay, so, I used to love this restaurant, the interior is amazing and how short the waits are is amazing. ********READ CLOSELY!********* We went to Applebees one day and my brother, we were younger at this time, I think about 10 and he ordered one of their burgers. They smelled delicious and I was almost jealous I didn't get them, until I saw the inside. It looked like they just painted the outside of the burger a brown color. They looked great on the outside, and he ordered them well done, the inside was completely pink and raw. We had the poor waitress, I seriously feel sorry for her for having to deal with this, call the chef who cooked them out to the table. He made my brother another burger, very nice of him, for free! This was a good marketing idea. The second burger comes out and this time, being smart, my brother cuts it open and guess what? Still pink! We haven't gone back since and we don't plan on it either. We've eaten at this place a few times, especially when we just feel like using their Carside to Go option. But lately it seems they've gone way downhill and I doubt we'll be going back there until something changes. The food is so mediocre and some of the staff seem to lack any pride in their jobs. The last time we ordered pick up the sides hadn't even been warmed up. Seriously, they were stone cold. How could anyone let something like that go out of their kitchen? If I felt like heating up food, I'd have eaten my own leftovers for God's sake! This was during the shutdown and they were one of the few restaurants open in the area. We thought we would try to help out the local restaurants by ordering out but we were nothing but pissed off after this experience. Happy that some of the local places like South 401, Roma's and BJs are back for carryouts. They deserve our money and patronage more than Applebee's. read more

Food is what you would expect from a chain restaurant. My favorite thing is the soup and salad lunch. The main down fall is it takes a long time to get a second round. This can be a star back of you are pressed for time. Prices are average for the type of restaurant it is. Overall not a bad place to go and hang out, but the dood is just average. read more

I'm not a fan of chain restaurants. My experience has been the food is very generic but for whatever reason I've found myself dining at a few in my 30 some years as an adult. The evening me, my daughter and her friend came here it was late and nothing else was open. She had a bacon burger and I had 3 cheese penne pasta with grilled chicken and we shared an appetizer. The appetizer was bbq boneless breaded chicken bites and between three of us we didn't finish. Not because it was too big just because it wasn't edible-way too much breading/batter. Now everywhere my daughter eats she gets a burger 99.9% of the time and rarely does she complain. She didn't say much but didn't finish it and it looked just ok. Mine reminded me of those frozen bags of pasta you buy and throw in the skillet and presto! Dinner is served. Two bites was more than enough for me and why I didn't send it back is beyond me. My daughter tried it and said the same thing, YUK! It had an awful smell too. Anyway, I brought it home and gave it to my 8 yr old grand daughter who doesn't know any better. Soon after it was served the waitress came over and quickly asked how it was while my mouth was full with one of the two bites so I never had a chance to respond. She didn't think to ask when I boxed almost the entire meal to go. Oh and she forgot my bread as well. I didn't notice until we were leaving so again too late for me to complain. I'm usually much more assertive. Oh well. I'll never go back so no biggie. I have no idea how people eat that crap. I really don't! In the future better reviews to come. I promise. read more

I had the pleasure of driving thru some time ago and was served by a delightful young lady named Shannon. We aren't Applebee's regulars but my husband suggested. We were blown away with Shannon's service . She was so uplifting and made us laugh. Never had to ask for a single thing like she was reading our minds ! My husband dropped his fork and Shannon heard it fall from 15 feet away and came with another set up. Wow! Picked up on the fact we weren't from Michigan and had great suggestions of places to visit . In which we had a revitalizing romantic weekend to her suggestion. We are so thankful her excellent service still exists. It is my hope that Shannon be recognized for her efforts. We will be visiting Applebee's locations more often. Thank you! read more

Ok, it's Applebees. You know what to expect if you ever are here before. This time the burger was exceptional. The server could have cared less if she was there or not. The $10 burger, fry, soda special was worth it. 1/2 price apps everyday after 8 or 9 depending on the day is always a special treat. We will be back but do enjoy new places. My wife and I came here on a Sunday night as a night out. The food was prepared correctly and tasted ok but the portion was way to small for the money. Service has gotten a little better here but not by much. It's almost impossible to go in and not be subjected to kids running back and forth. This is a restaurant not a playground. I'm thinking it's one of the wait staff's kids bc it's the same kid every time. Management just shrugs their shoulders and says theirs nothing we can do. I recently took my family to the Applebees in Okemos Mi and thought I should review my experience. Pros: 1.) Good atmosphere. 2.) Good food. 3.) Good customer service. Cons: 1.) The menue is shrinking. 2.) The food is getting more expensive. 3.) You pay more for less at this applebees. We had a staff member open the door for us when we entered the building and were seated right away for lunch which was nice. We ordered an appetizer (The Sampler) and was told that the sampler would no longer be on the menu soon. We received the app 20 minutes later. When we were asked if we were ready to order our dinner, we were told "We don't have that anymore" on several items that were still on the menu... Applebees is stripping out there menu of anything that is "Not Healthy" but keeping fries and ribs??? When I received my dinner, there was barely any food on the plate! My family (4 year old daughter and wife) barely had any food on their plates as well and the bill was unusually high. Applebee's use to be an enjoyable family restaurant with good food for a reasonable cost but now seems to lack food options, and increased the prices. I paid the bloated bill and left still hungry. If you are a small guy with a tiny stomach and like paying top dollar for small portions of food, this is the place for you. Come on Applebee's.... If I want to eat healthy, I will go eat at a health place. Applebee's should have taken some feedback from its customers before destroying a great menu. read more

I was out with my wife for a nice evening. We were going to see the new Frankenstein movie and had a little bit of time before the movie. So we stopped to eat. I ordered a nice burger and my wife just wanted a simple ham and cheese. When the food came back i got my burger and she got the mac n cheese. The waitress didn't even bring the food out so when she came back she said "oh so you just want a ham and cheese kids meal". So she knew what my wife said she just decided to mess up the order. After another 30 min wait i get my old reheated burger and my wife gets a grilled cheese. Now we are late for the movie so we have to leave in a rush. When i get the bill and i was charged for the messed up order we didn't eat. At this point i just wanted to get out of there and never come back so i paid it anyway and i was still late for the movie. read more

I have been to this location several times. Let's just say that even though I don't hold any Applebee's location to a very high standard... This one is by far the worst of my experiences. Every time I have been here the service has been sub-par in one way or another. On multiple occasions appetizers have been brought to the table only minutes before entrees. Several times food has been forgotten or incorrect. The food itself has never been terrible, however it could have been better several times. Their prices have gone up, while it seems the portions have only gotten smaller. Alcohol prices are extremely high for most drinks. Needless to say, I have been disappointed with this particular location enough times that I believe it is safe to say I will not be returning. read more

We walked in to dirty tables and they stayed like that through our whole meal. One table available in the bar area offered to us, while there could have been four. These people were not busy. They just don't know how to hustle. They were kind and we were honest. We sent our soup back, fully greasy. Salad dressing was terrible. Beer was good and cold! We won't be back. read more

Food is inconsistent and oftentimes just mediocre. Service is meh, but we often get our entrées just after the appetizer... so timing isn't their strong suit. Mixed drinks are marginal, heir pre-mixes suck. I recommend getting bottled beer over any of their drafts... drafts taste as if they do not clean their lines often. We have an issue with undercooked shrimp entrées, and have asked them specifically to cook the shrimp 1 minute longer at the time of ordering and it still arrives undercooked.. we had a manager say once it was a different kind of shrimp that cooks up like that... come on... they also had a recent outbreak of some sort... I don't remember the name of the bacteria, but it comes from employees not washing theirs hands after number 2.... we won't be going back read more

The restaurant brought in the former president of T.G.I. Friday's to head up this effort with the goal of becoming relevant to a variety of customers. Their new target market would include everyone from a family of five to a group of millennials coming in to catch the game and some beer. The campaign obviously focused on new food choices that appeal to a new economically-engaged group of consumers with options like the 2 for $20 dinners, pick-a-pair lunches, and half-off appetizers after 9 p.m. Another focus of the campaign was to maintain a fresh image that was not out-dated and generic, and to compete with popular sports-bar and family-type restaurants such as Buffalo Wild Wings and Outback Steakhouse. With all of the concentration on their new image, the real concern is whether or not their customer service, and core menu items would suffer. Applebee's states that they will only grow and see a large success from this campaign. Their new look is definitely gave us all some hope as to what was to come. When I go to Applebee's my go to meal is the 4-Cheese Mac & Cheese with Honey Pepper Chicken Tenders. I can't say that I have been wholeheartedly satisfied with this meal, but it is the best meal I have found here so far. With the "4" cheeses actually looking a lot like just 1, and the chicken tasting like it just went from the freezer to the deep-fryer, sometimes I wonder why I even try here. As far as the customer service goes, at the locations that I have visited, there seems to be something missing. The staff seems very lack-luster with a real need to step up their game with their knowledge of the menu items, and even with the basics like making sure beverages are refilled as needed. It really looks like Applebee's tried to hit the giant "reset" button with the new menu and the new appearance, but it seems like they have not come far enough just yet. We will see how far Applebee's is willing to go during their period of declining sales, but the 2 for $20 menu and the fresh look just isn't cutting it or us. For now we will leave Applebee's on the Restaurants to Avoid list, and hope that they figure things out before it is too late. read more

This place is so back and forth. One time I get great food, the next time it's horrible. I'm not sure what is going on there really! I don't know if they have an employee problem or management, or what. It makes no sense to me how they so inconsistent. I do like the Carside to Go which is very convenient for our busy family. But to be honest, the only thing I would miss if they closed would be the French Onion Soup. read more
