I love this Applebees. I've been a few times and haven't had a complaint! In fact, the first time we went our toddler had a little bit of a meltdown when we walked in so we delayed sitting down. The hostess and server were understanding as we didn't want to have our toddler have a meltdown at the restaurant so my spouse took our child to the car to cool down. One of the employees assured me that we were okay and tantrums were fine because after all, Applebees is a family restaurant. That comment blew me away. The empathy and compassion displayed by the staff was so kind. Every time I've been there, our server has been awesome. Food is great too, chef's kick butt! I like the energy of the staff. The server was polite and professional but the food was not good. Ordered their classic broccoli chicken and the alfredo sauce was non-existent. Dry noodles. Asked the server for more sauce and she brought me some but even then, it was sparse. Food was lukewarm-warm and service lacking. Not what I'm used to at Applebees across the country. Much to my surprise, our experience at Applebee's was super. The Ranch Chicken sandwich I had was delicious! It was Veteran's Day, so my husband got a free meal from them, influencing our decision to go there in the first place. It was incredibly busy, but everyone from the woman at the podium, to our wait staff was wonderful. It was the sandwich, though, that made me write this, it was tender, juicy, and thick, making it one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had. Our waiter was Donovan, who has a voice meant for radio or television, for sure. How he kept up serving so many tables, I don't know, but he did. read more

I knew going in it could be bad. But it was awful. I took my sister out for her 21st birthday and my oriental salad came out wrong and without a breadstick. There was a failure of communication on the solution and I had my hand in the air for quite literally 3 minutes and was walked past by both my server and the manager. When I did finally manage to get my salad out right everyone else was halfway or all the way done eating in my group and the salad was practically all carrots. Had to leave half on the plate. Didn't get to keep the initial salad to take home and only got 5$ off the bill. I will be hard pressed or brainwashed to return anytime soon. read more

Awesome food and service for take out! Forgot our drinks once so just 4 stars. Check over order when pick up as mistakes happen occasionally. We love the 2 for $20 hamburgers and what we always get. Onion rings awesome and crunchy if you pay more. read more

Usually Applebee's is a safe bet anywhere in the country, but not the one in Cedar Falls. I ignored the other reviews and figured it was just a bad manager, but we got an AWFUL server (introduced himself as Chill) and the food came out cold and undercooked. When I told "Chill" that my fish was raw in the middle, he said "sorry about that" but made no effort to adjust the bill or provide any kind of tangible solution. He just walked away. I guess I was supposed to just eat it and get sick. He never refilled drinks, never made us feel welcome and didn't seem interested at all. Do yourself a favor if you go to this Applebee's ... don't order food, don't expect good service from Chill, and expect to pay full price no matter how cold or undercooked your meal is. read more

It took over 20 minutes for us to get anyone's attention to bring us drinks and take our orders. The waiter that came, was very polite and helped out as fast as they could...but the entire team was stretched thin. No manager on site. By the time we got our food we had to wait another 10 minutes before we were able to grab someone to get us silverware. Come to find out they didn't have any clean silverware, so we had to wait even longer. By the time we got our silverware, our food was cold. I had to wait another 5 minutes before we got up to ask someone for a steak knife to cut my cold steak. I also found salad in my mac n cheese. Just an overall terrible experience. Thankfully when talked to about the bill, they took off every entree we ordered. read more

Had the most disappointing experience at this restaraunt. Food was good like usual, but the service was bad. We asked to have one TV turned on and the channel on another tv changed. Neither happened. There were only a few people in the restaurant so it's not like it was too busy or someone else had asked to watch what was on. It was Saturday afternoon and college football should have been on. My group was a group of four and we waited an hour for our food and one of our people ordered a steak cooked medium. It came out bloody. It was barely even rare. We then sent it back and the second steak came out the exact same. Our waitress was very short with us and was acting annoyed with the whole situation ever since she greeted us. Short Version: Applebees provides a reliable experience. The food never really blows me away, but I know what to expect. This location goes above-and-beyond by allowing you to actually play the tabletop games without paying a fee in order to do so. The wait staff was friendly and prompt, and the location is very clean and well-decorated. Long Version: This is an Applebees. That pretty much gives you a general idea of what to expect. This is a well-taken-care-of location, and all of the seating looks comfortable and new while the building itself looks nice as well. The decor adds to the ambiance without being overpowering. Bathrooms were clean and nice. The two-person tables seem a bit small, but it worked out okay. The staff was friendly. We were seated promptly, and our waitress was very friendly. She seemed busy, but she was very attentive to getting new drinks or checking to make sure the food was okay. She wasn't insanely "woah!" in terms of service, but it was more-than-adequate. Each table has a tabletop Android tablet on the table. This tablet is pretty awesome. It allows you to view your bill, reorder drinks, desserts, or appetizers, call over your waitress, check out current Applebees promotions, or (my favorite!) play little games. What really sets this Applebees apart from other Applebees locations is that their "games" selection on the tablet seemed to be unlocked. Most other Applebees locations I've been to required $1 in order to play the games. The tablet here seems to be unlocked, and while all of the games aren't the most awesome, we found some really great games that made the "wait" fly by and made us feel much more connected than just randomly discussing our day. There were "Couples Quiz" and "Friends Quiz" for two players. These are played similarly to "The Newlyweds" gameshow. Your friend answers some questions about themself, you can answer some about yourself, and then you try to guess what the other person answered. They have them in multiple categories such as "Food", "Travel", "Books", "movies" and more (though some of the categories use the exact same questions in both Friends and Couples version). I could instantly see this "Couples Quiz" aspect being perfect for a first date and to relieve the awkward tension. The food itself was Applebees quality. I suppose I don't come here expecting the best food possible - or maybe I need to start experimenting with their menu to find something I enjoy more. The food is good, but it never blows me away. Their Three Cheese Chicken Penne is good, but I'm never left feeling like I should really recommend it to someone. I'll have to start trying other things on the menu. Note: This location, for whatever reason, has Karaoke on Wednesday nights from 9PM until close. I am seriously excited about going to that. read more

I didn't know Apple bees here closes at like 10 pm when the promote on the weekends that it is opened until 11 pm and have a sign saying open at 12. Like the person even who was at the front door who was the person that is supposed to seat us was like we're closed and didn't give a good reason it wasn't the Normal girl that is usually nice to greet us there before and all. Like my friend and I didn't get a reason why. If you promote half price apps on weekends at 10 and close at 11 explain next time and not give a attitude. Might be going to the one in Waterloo the waiters and waitresses here are super nice but didn't know why the greeter said we are closed when they are open at 11 pm on the weekends. There people sitting down and staying and people were coming in and had to be told the same thing. Most of the people went to Pancheros or McDonald's. I haven't been to Applebee's in years. I have found it be over priced generic food. But I was pleasantly surprised this evening with the carside to go. It was a late night of flag football and I had a gift card to Applebee's. So while at practice I got on my phone on the web and ordered carside to go. I was able to put in a time slot of when I wanted my food ready. When I pulled up a very polite gentleman named zach greeted me at my car right away with my order. He thanked me sincerely and it was super fast. Upon returning home my food was hot and correct to my order. We got a bacon cheeseburger, mozzarella sticks, oriental chicken salad and a pasta dish. My salad was okay, too much cabbage on it and the oriental dressing was more like coleslaw dressing. But everything else was very good. I can't rate the ambiance or table service. My husband and I usually end up here on Friday night after work. I can typically count on the Balsamic Chicken Apple Salad. It is lower in calories, the chicken is always delicious and the salad lightly dressed. It has apple pieces and sliced almonds. Last night, there were huge pieces of apple, the salad was swimming in the dressing, enough to make the lettuce very soggy. I think I found two almond slices. The chicken was delicious. I didn't complain right away because the more I ate, the more I discovered. I did tell our server that it was not up to par and he offered to have it remade. We were nearly ready to leave so I declined. The manager took $4 off of my meal. He didn't come to our table and talk to me. This may change the way we eat out in the future. read more

Won't be going back to this Applebee's anytime soon. For the second time in two weeks our experience was terrible (and had the same server). Today was another twenty minute wait for drinks AFTER our order was placed. Upon receiving our order, it was not close to what was ordered. Soup was cold. Salads were small, and we were never checked on by our server, just had to sit with no salad dressing until we found anyone who cared. Tickets came, and nothing was correct. Food arrived with half of the groups meals cold, then took over 10 min to get sauce for pastas me another 20 to get butter for bread. Spoke with the manager, and he was useless. Waitress passed by the table no less than 5 times, and the manager 3 without stopping at the table, for over 10 min. So we sat with dirty plates and empty glasses until the reluctant return of the shamed waitress. No offer for any discount, or any comps. What a disappointment for our party. They were promoting jello shots and drinking. The music was cranked so loud we could not talk and it was reverberating in my body. We were going to stay, but couldn't take it and got it to go. Now have no drinks and cold, soggy food. Manager was like, too loud, oh well don't come on a Wednesday. Well, we won't be coming back ANY day. No objection to a Bingo night, or creating a fun place for kids to go, but no need to be so extremely loud. If I wanted to go to a LOUD nightclub, I would. Not something Applebees should do. They have bar bingo on Wednesday nights after 9. If you're out of high school, stay away. There's a guy screaming on a microphone, and music playing so loud you can't talk to the person next to you. Apparently they are trying to make a place for high school kids to hang out, which is fine, but the sad attempt at making it "cool" was such a turn off I will never come back. If I want to go to a dance club, I'll go to one.
