We showed up with a party of 11 on a Friday night and they didn't miss a beat. Service was excellent, the Lasagna was very hot, delicious, and more than it looked like at first glance. Went in, open tables for 4 or 6 ppl, would not seat me. Told me I'd have to wait to be seated at the bar, unsure of how long that would be. Booths were available too. Poor customer service, won't ever eat here no matter how good ppl say it is. read more

We go here often as it's a "Sports Bar" feeling kind of place. The taco pizza is awesome and I'd get it every time if I was the only one deciding. The rest of the menu is pretty basic and bar food kind of stuff. The quality before COVID was four, maybe four and half stars, but since it's 3 at best. The drinks are not strong but pricey so we don't normally go here if we plan to have a few. Good onion rings, fries and that kind of thing for sure, but stick to pizza to be safe. We have been to this OP location many times and normally have been very pleased. Today, we ordered onion rings and pizza. The service was good. The onion rings were over fried. The biggest issue was the pizza. We ordered half Canadian bacon mushroom. They forgot the mushrooms and just dumped on top before they brought out. We were in a hurry and did not have time to wait for another pizza so we ate some and got to go. After we left we felt this was unacceptable. read more

Tonight was the worst experience I've ever had in my life... I've never left a bad review, however I've never been kicked out or "politely" asked to move sections from a restaurant because they need to make room ‍ There were plenty of open spots/tables/accommodations that they could have made because it wasn't packed on a Sunday evening but after our ticket was ordered/fulfilled they asked us to leave (tab out) & make room for another party... I've never been treated that way in my life & from someone whose been a server and bartender in the industry, it was the most disrespectful occurrence I've ever had dining out. Torn between a 2-3 star. There was basically no food for me #vegan. The fries are cooked in all the same oil as the meat which I tend to avoid but I was out with a group and the waitress said they were delicious so I indulged. Unfortunately they were not enjoyable. Our group came mid supper time and all the booths were taken by families so we shared a tiny table with stools, so not much room. The waitress put in a little but not too much effort to clean up what we finished to make it a more pleasant experience. The vibe was fine. Like most other regular bars. Casual. The drinks were cheap!! I will definitely come back just for cheap drinks. I got two whiskey sours. This is our favorite go to restaurant for pizza. We often have the half order of onion rings along with our favorite beverage. We can choose a great beer or soda with our meal. We enjoy the seating for two or a larger group can easily be accommodated. read more

The OP is a place that's been around for a long time and the food has been pretty much the same for as long as I could remember. My three main things from here is obviously the pizza, but also there burgers and the chicken wraps. The pizza itself is tasty as long you add a couple of toppings, getting it just cheese tastes very plane. They do have a great selection for toppings as longs as you like any of there veggies or meat options I'm sure the pizza will be great. As for there burgers they are very tasty most of the time. On occasion it's to dry or overcooked when you order medium well so you should not expect well done, if your not satisfied they are good about fixing your order. Again most of the time they are delicious, juicy and full of flavor so I would not pass up on them if your feeling burgers. Finally for there chicken wraps I go with the Buffalo chicken wrap, overall great taste. I wouldn't say it's my favorite around but it is a very good option if your in the mood for a chicken wrap they always come loaded. Overall a good place to try for lunch or supper. read more

Ate there last night. My wife and I ordered Nachos and a beer. Nachos were delivered to our table cold. I had the bar manger come to our table and feel...by putting your finger on the beef. He agreed they were cold. Sent back to the kitchen. New plate of Nachos arrived. Again cold. Told our waitress not to bother sending them back. Deducted the price from our bill. Paid bill and left. Love the food here but I have to say that the landscaping really needs work. Weeds are overgrown every where. If I didn't already know the food was good this would definitely be a deterrent. I will still eat here but just a heads up. Outside appearance DOES make a difference. read more

Fantastic pizza and the best mozzarella sticks I've ever had. A tradition that is spreading to Des Moines makes me happy. Service could improve. Some times I've been it's been slow and inattentive. But I'll continue to get food. Carry out while traveling is great. read more

It seems to me that this location does the pizza's just a little better than the other locations, especially University Ave. The crust is a little crispier and pizza is more consistent. read more

I make it a point to go at least once when I am in Waterloo. The food is good but the service is hit or miss. Last time we were there our waitress was rude. She took my drink without asking to "be refilled" and never brought it back! She also took FOREVER to get our check, at one point we thought she forgot about us because she went to the bar and rolled silverware rather than cash us out. read more

I feel like we go here at least 3 times a month. We love the pizza. Any kind. We always ask for it well done. We like the cheese to be golden brown. Their turkey club sub is also delicious. I'm just finishing up their breaded mushroom appetizer & I'm a happy girl, to say the least! I usually have these, plus a grinder pizza, but I'm just having a snack tonite :-) let me just say that these are NOT your typical beaded mushrooms, straight from the deep freeze, identical to 95% off the other mushrooms you'll be served in any other restaurant! They are fresh, breaded fresh & cooked fresh. Now, onto the service-all I review is the take-out staff recently. Usually, I'm not overly impressed or unhappy. I'm usually underwhelmed, although they do tend to get the details right. I would just ask for a little more friendliness overall. Anyway, this time I asked for some extra honey-mustard sauce for my mushrooms &I was pleased to find it, when I got home. It seems these days to be ignored, in most restaurants & by the phone interaction,I expected to have my request be ignored. First off, I would like to state that I normally do not do reviews to this extent, but "The Other Place" certainly requires one. I have been in restaurant management for over 20 years, so I know that upper management feeds off of these reviews to improve operations, as I encounter my own guest comments on a daily basis, good or bad. This may have been just an off night for this location, which happens but not to this extent. I apologize if my review is long winded. I traveled with my family from the East Coast (1200 miles) to celebrate the Christmas holiday with other family members. On our last night in Waterloo Iowa, we all decided to go out for a nice dinner (or so we thought) at The Other Place. After being seated, it took nearly 15-20 minutes to place a drink order. Once we were finally greeted for our beverage order, we also placed our food order at the same time (mainly apps and a couple of sandwiches) which was a little unusual, but we were given ample time to review the menu. Anyways, after another 15 minutes or so, my sister asked the manager if we could at least get some water for my kids while we graciously waited. By this time, some 30-40 minutes later, our party of 7 was getting a little agitated, like a lot of customers that I was observing around us. We finally received our drinks as another party of 30-40 people were being seated. Another 20-30 minutes went by (over an hour at this point) and we finally received 2 of the 7 items that we had ordered and we were all like great our food is finally ready or so we thought. Then suddenly a wave of food was being brought out to the large group that I had mentioned previously, which was sat a good 30 minutes after all of us. This was the last straw for us and my sister went up to the manager (whom was oblivious as to what was going on with his business) to find out what was going on. He could not even muster up a response or any type of excuse for us, which is very disappointing. We all got up and walked out at that point. We all came hungry and left hungry. My impression was that I thought this was a full service establishment and not a self-service one. We were not expecting the hour plus wait for service or we would have phoned in our orders or brought our own beverages and some playing cards to pass the time. I would like to recommend Subway over this establishment for anyone looking for good service and food. We were all greeted with a friendly "welcome to Subway", served promptly with fresh, good food and we were even thanked for our business. This may not be the ideal place to have a nice family dinner, but at least the service was top notch! read more

Snotty hostess/waitress(sage)..rude when we requested to sit in bar area instead of family area..then told we couldn't customize there 2 topping special of the day(same topping only) when questioned why not she walked away to return 10 minutes later..i requested our beverage bill and stated we would get pizza somewhere else..20 minutes later after she had a nice long joking conversation with the bartender our bill arrived..upon giving her my card she was gone again for 15 minutes..we will avoid "Ridgeway"OP at all costs as there are 3 other OP restaurants in town read more

Always have excellent service and customer service. The one time we had issues they fixed it right away without arguing or giving excuses.

Some of the best pizza around but service is going downhill. Waitress took food order before asking what drinks we wanted. Sausage on whole pizza with mushrooms on half and c bacon on half is three toppings? Rude faces and gestures to the whole party. Ignored children's refill requests. First blue moon had 1/4 of an orange- second had no slice at all. 30 minute wait for bills and they were figured wrong. Will be taking food to go for a while. read more
