I seem to be on a real Applebee's kick lately. Mostly due to the new menu features they started, called the Big Easy Menu, referencing, the Big Easy in New Orleans and sort of Cajun flavors. Before I was a big fan of the Greater Meal deal Bacon cheeseburger and endless fries and a drink for just $9.99. They still have this deal too! I still have 2 of my crew with me as we returned to the Sacramento area after a long road trip to Vegas and back. We decided a late lunch at Applebee's was just the thing we needed. They have a great drink selection as well. I'm driving, so no drinkie for me this time! One of the crew got the Big Easy special of the shrimp and chicken with mashed potatoes served on a bed of mushroom and onions all on a sizzling hot platter. I got my fave Bourbon Chicken Penne pasta served with green and red bell pepper and onions as well as andouille sausage. There's just something about this combination that tastes super good, the kitchen really got this one right! The other crew member went for the Meal Deal Bacon Cheeseburger and fries. Service was all friendly and the interior of this location looked pretty similar to all the Applebee's with a bar in the center and table all around and nice windows to let in the light. The food arrives and we all dig in. Mine is tasty as I've had before. The chicken and shrimp dish is sizzling away, had to get a vid of that! We all loved the food here. We had a great time at Applebee's tonight . I ordered the Bacon burger in melty cheese and fries. It was delicious! All the fries melty cheese made me so happy. My husband had the sweet Asian chile wings and he enjoyed his meal. I also had the Mucho Bacardi Blushing Dragon and I loved it. It's been a long while since I have eaten at Applebee's so I'm glad we decided to eat here! The bar tender was our waitress she was nice but my husband ran out of water and I had to give him mine because she never came back for refills. Was going to order from them anyways, so just went ahead with my online order. I haven't been to Applebee's in years, so I asked the hubs what he wanted. He mentioned the two for $26 deal, so we just went ahead and ordered that. He adores mozzarella sticks and I like spinach and artichoke dip, so we added the less expensive one as an additional item. It was $0.20 less, but hey, less money is less money. I enjoyed the chicken. It was savory and cheesy. A lil salty, but the lime cut into that. The dip was nice and creamy. I had some carrot sticks at the house, so I ate it with those. The hubs had it with the chips and said it was a lil salty as well. The riblets were pretty good. I was afraid they would be too sweet due to the honey bbq, but it wasn't at all. The mozzarella sticks were also tasty. Tho they need to give you more than one small container of marinara. It's not enough for all the sticks. Luckily, I had some spaghetti sauce at the house so it was an okay substitute. When leaving, I noticed a sign saying they do half off appetizer after 9pm. Not sure of the terms, but we didn't get that deal online. So if ordering, maybe call them instead or order in person to get the deal. I believe the wait for takeout is probably less than 20 mins. It honestly blows me away that this place has been open for this long, let alone having 4 stars. We had mozzerella sticks, burger, fries, nachos, soup/salad, sodas. Weren't offered refills on drinks even once, food came out flavorless/stale/soggy/burnt. Kids food came out 10-15 minutes before ours did. The sodas were watery. It's sad when you spend $90 on dinner, just to have to make something to eat when you get home. read more

I ordered their Bourbon Mushroom Burger, French Onion Soup and Lemonade. My husband had a salad, French Onion soup and Bourbon Chicken and Shrimp. My husband's food was such a tiny portion. The chicken was so small. I got my burger and I had asked for No onions but it was full of onions. The waitress was so sweet and took it back to get it right. I got my burger back, but it was well done, no flavor at all. It's still sitting in my fridge since dinner because I paid over $75 for our dinner. My husband is a Chef from well known places and we were disappointed. The staff was great but the food was just ok. My food was not. I give it 1 star just for the friendly staff. I am kind of upset because inside I always get good service but to go it's always kinda bad. I ordered a kids meal to go and I had to call them after 20 minutes because no one was bringing my kids food to me and when we got the food it was cold. Took my daughter here and was not impressed. Came on a Friday night so I was expecting it to be busy. First queso came out cold had to send it back, then my daughter bites into a cold kids pizza. Server was really nice and wasn't his fault but my daughter had already eaten her fries and half of the pizza Before finding cold slice. Really I would have expected them to bring her another pizza or gave her more fries or something but they ended up giving us 10% off, which was ok but I'd think Manager could have come out and talked to us I wasn't expecting them to take anything off, but kinda just the principle. We haven't been to an Applebees since having a bad experience a number of years ago. Went back again about a year ago and it was pretty good and affordable. We went back again a couple weeks ago. Our waitress looked like the mother from Pink Floyd The Wall and smelled like a dirty ashtray. She was in a big hurry to take our order before we were ready. Then when we were ready she was nowhere to be found. After waiting for sometime she returned and smelled even worse. We know where she went. Food was mediocre. I've always had excellent service and very tasty and healthy food here... Not sure why all the bad reviews. I sit at the bar and the bartenders are super friendly, responsive and professional. So bad, we only have 7 people, the restaurant is 1/3 full. They have 4 staffs walking around . I arrived at 1pm and sat at 1:35pm. Took us 35 mins. Christian has waited on us numerous times and is friendly and efficient. The food is always consistent and fresh. My 89 year old mother in-law is in an assisted living facility nearby and Applebee's is the only place we can take her where she doesn't complain about the food. I frequently order takeout for dinner and have only experienced an issue with my order not being perfect once (and upon calling him to let them know of this, they apologized and immediately fixed it). Everything from the appetizers (love me some mozzarella sticks and the spinach artichoke dip) to the burgers to the salads have always been great and made exactly to my liking. The restaurant is always packed when I run in to pick up no matter the night of the week, so I'm confused as to why the reviews are just mediocre. The staff do have turnover as I rarely recognize a face there but they are all friendly and efficient so no complaints from me. All in all, this is a regular in my rotation and I recommend to anyone looking for a good variety of delicious American food, either while dining out or taking to go. read more

We came in for a late dinner with a few of my husband's coworkers and were happy to dine in during happy hour! Who doesn't love appetizers and appetizers at a discounted rate!?! We ordered one of everything and more. Lol the pretzels were probably my favorite thing. The texture was pillowy soft and it smelled divine. Our friends enjoyed their wonton chicken tacos - said it was the best thing they had in their mouth that night. Haha the appetizers were all good! We also ordered a few burgers and those were mediocre. The service was pretty quick but also left a few of us uncertain. I know we were talking a little loudly or maybe because we were practically the only ones in there(?) but our server continuously was butting into the conversation. Lol which I'm usually fine with but at one point she told us how her and her coworkers were making inappropriate comments about a previous customer and that just made me uncomfortable. Because 1. So to start off with, our server was great, a very nice young man (Josh maybe???) who was very adept at his job. This kid was all over it. kudos to him...great job! The disappointment came with the food. We haven't been to an Applebee's in probably a decade or more and figured we would give it a try. It took quite a long time to get our food, close to 40 minutes in a restaurant maybe 1/4 full. I ordered baby back ribs (maybe not the best choice in a place like this). The meat was sooo salty I felt like I gargled with saltwater, then followed up with a tablespoon of salt for good measure. (ok I exaggerate a bid, but it was truly very, very salty). I opted for the honey BBQ sauce on the ribs. It had a very heavy smokey flavor. Thankfully there was a minimal amount on the ribs, but I tried to scrape off as much as possible. The ribs themselves had very little meat and the membrane was still on making it hard to bite into, which I could have lived with, it was the Salt & heavy smoke flavor that ruined it. My sides were garlic mashed potato and garlic green beans. Both items clearly straight from a microwave bag. The potatoes were pretty good, the first bites of green beans were good, then they kind of fell into a cold wet very limp mess. The salad was cold and crunchy, just the way I like it. No complaints there. I see lots of cars here regularly, so there must be some decent things on the menu. Ribs were probably not the smartest things to order, maybe sticking to pub types food might be a better idea, like burgers & fries, etc. From my experience I would probably give it less stars, but I thought our server was doing a great job and that does mean a lot in a restaurant. read more

I ordered to go curbside pick up , order said it would be out at 12:26, I was there at 12:06, eventually at around 12:30 I walked in and waited for the food for another 6 minutes then asking for a refund , then had to wait for a manager for another 5 minutes , just for them to tell me they checked the cameras and I should've called when I was outside and they are understaffed . I hate giving bad reviews and I rarely do, but this one has to be done. Ordered take out. My husbands fish and chips okay but fries cold and soggy. Coleslaw warm because it was in a cup next to the hot food. I was hungry for the ribs. Worst food I have Ever had. Baby back ribs looked and tasted like shoe leather. (Even my dog didn't like the meat!!!). My fries also were cold and soggy. Heating them in microwave did not help. And no coleslaw, not that I would have eaten it anyway. The cook and the waitress packaging the food should have done better and informed me that they were out of ribs and to choose something else, rather than sending our old, shoe leather tough baby back ribs. Please read. We almost did not go here because this location only had 2.5 stars. But it was late night and we decided to give it a try. I was not busy and Josh was our waiter. He was very nice, met us with a smile, and very prompt. I ordered the shrimp and sirloin and my wife ordered the chicken tenders. Food took a little bit to get to us but it was delivered very fresh and exactly how we requested (crispy fries for wife and medium on my steak). My steak was actually very tender and had great flavor! Everything tasted good and my wife said here order was done very well also. Josh checked on us several times making sure that our order was how we liked it. I will have to say they exceeded our expectations. From my experience on this given night they deserved a 5 star. I think the 2.5 rating is unfair to be honest. We all know there are times and people that this location may fall short.... However it deserves a 4 star minimum average. If I could give it a zero I would ! Racism from the moment we walked into the place, mind you we are Mexican American. All started with walking into the place even though it was not busy about 5-6 tables were being occupied, and let me say the moment we walked into the building it seemed that every person had all eyes on us . At this point it feels embarrassing , we continue to wait and after a couple mins still continue to pass she then tells us she will seat us shortly. As she's walking to us with the menus in her hands she seems to stop mid way and stop at a table and ask if they needed any boxes . We overhear the table tell her "no thank you" , yet she continues to comment "don't worry I will still bring them out for you" she then places the menus she had in her hands on the empty table next to the table she just asked if they needed boxes that said no & turns back to the kitchen to where I assume the boxes are. At this point we waited way too long , felt so uncomfortable & felt as if she was taking it as a joke and we then proceeded with leaving and not eating here . We are not from around the area so not sure if it was then something with our ethnicity or tattoos but we love Applebees just did not love this experience. She was friendly, gave us the time we needed to decide on our order. She checked on us periodically. The food was spot on! My wife's steak was cooked perfectly. I only ever go to Applebees for one thing - the oriental chicken salad or roll up. I have been obsessed with this salad for 10 years. Applebee's for rid of one of the sauces they used for the roll up, so it's not as good as it used to be, but that's not this location's fault. The staff here have always been friendly and helpful and food and service are always expedient. I've tried a few other menu items over the years. Most of which are pretty blah, (again, not this location's fault) but the oriental salad dressing is the best I've ever had. read more

We eat out almost every night and she is the definition of a great server. She is prompt, friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurants products. She should be training your other servers.
