Prices are on the high side, and the food is average for me. They have some creative ideas on the menu, but the delivery does not always match what the picture or goodness, if you know what I mean? My most recent order was the grilled cheese burger with tomato basil soup, featured on the front of the menu. It looked great and I was hungry! It greeted me lukewarm, and the tomato soup was really sweet (sweeter than the sweet tea). On the positive side, the service is attentive and quick, and their military discount is nice and appreciated. Also, desserts are consistently good; I have never had anything less than great in that department. I don't usually find myself in the middle on reviews, but there is not enough here either way to push the scale to higher or lower. Three stars for me. read more

I got the southwestern chicken bowl and it was so good five stars. Our waitress needed rollerskates on because she was so busy. She had a giant section to take care of, but she stayed on top of it. it's an older restaurant. It needs a little work, but I'm not there to look at the restaurant. I'm there to eat. read more

Terrible place of business. Terrible managers. The Managers do not take care of there workers as they should , the managers have cussed at multiple servers when getting asked for help. Line cooks talk to the servers like trash and nothing ever gets done about it. WOULD NOT EAT THERE. read more

This was the worst experience so far. Missing condiments for the pretzel appetizer. Couldn't order anything because I have a seafood allergy and they wouldn't offer to clear the grill of seafood to order anything so I didn't eat while my partner did. Waiter said she would come back and sent someone else at the end of our visit to check if I could order something else and never came back themselves. Applebee's is not my normal go to restaurant. Over the years most of their sites have declined in regards to service, consistency in food and overall experience. The Athens location is by far the exception to the rule. I have visited twice now and both times have been pleasant experiences. Recently, I visited and had Haley as my server. She was delightful and prompt. She went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of. As a result, my daughter who is unimpressed by the most basic and important things in life such as tacos and pizza, begged me to tell her manager how good of a server that she was. That's impressive, did I mention that my kid doesn't eat tacos or pizza? She doesn't even like Kraft macaroni and cheese. So to get Ms. Boujee's attention is like experiencing two planets collide and creating a new universe. For that very reason, you should be proud of yourself. Haley keep up the good work! We were traveling and staying at the Best Western in Athens over night. We decided to have Applebee's for dinner. My husband order two orders of nachos for us. When he brought them back to the hotel, they had no queso and no pico de gallo. Pretty much dry chips with sour cream and guac. When I called and spoke with the manager, she realized we had received the wrong order. She worked quickly to come up with a solution. She offered several different options but since we were traveling we took the refund. Compliments to your manager for handling the situation perfectly. Upon arrival we requested a booth this brown haired girl that was the hostess got extremely snappy and disrespectful with me and my family. It's been a while since my husband and I have been to an Applebee's.Everyone has been really nice.I noticed that your bartender is very hard working-she is a great multitasker,also super nice and kept checking on us.We ordered from the two for twenty four dollar special.The honey bbq bonelsss wings are fantastic, along with the celery,chicken tenders,burger,and fries were great.It kind of reminds us of a bar that used to be called Bailey's, which now is Fox and Hound.I recommend this spot to eat and watch football games at for sure! read more

My girlfriend and I have heard horror stories of Applebees in general, and more specifically our local Applebees in Athens. One night we decided to bite the bullet and figure out just how bad it was. I'll start off by saying the good things. Our waitress, Vonelece, was great. She was very overwhelmed by complaining customers and handling a large amount of tables on her own, but she still delivered great service and was extremely nice. As well, the Pretzels and Beer Cheese was honestly extremely good. I would go back just for them and a drink. However that's where the good food stopped. We ordered the Riblets with BBQ sauce and fries (the Applebees signature dish) and something I thought would've been impossible to mess up, the Mac n cheese with BBQ Chicken Tenders. We ordered their main dish and something simple to test out how good it was. Both of these dishes were terrible. Genuinely terrible. The Mac n Cheese had no flavor. It was Penne pasta with a light cheese sauce that was not seasoned at all and the BBQ chicken tenders had no seasoning either! It was just sweet unflavored chicken. As for the riblets, I genuinely don't even know what those were. The bone/Cartilage she is so thin that it can't be a real rib right? And the flavor was terrible. Barely any meat in it either. The fries were I guess decent. It's fries. Still no seasoning. As far as the decor, it was fine. Decorated like "America" with film posters, nascar signs, beer signs, and stained glass chandeliers. If you want unseasoned food, go here. Otherwise microwave it yourself. read more

I've have visited this establishment and I would like to add that if you are any other color but white they will not let you wait inside. I was told that no one is able to sit behind them and that everyone has to wait outside. No problem I told the host and to my surprise when I come in there are groups of people behind them waiting!! So let me start by saying the Applebee's is not my favorite restaurant. On the way home from Nashville, my husband, 7 yo son and I stopped in at this establishment. From the moment we stepped through the opened door, the entire staff was so warm and welcoming. Our waitress was phenomenal!! She could not have done more for us. If we asked for something, it was delivered. Now to the food. It has been a few years since we have eaten at Applebee's. I was not disappointed at all. First off the boy who's at the host stand is awesome, he's the only employee who seemed to like his job and went above and beyond, the waitress ignored us for a long time and couldn't get our orders right and had to keep asking, she forgot to get our drinks until we ordered food. My wife and I are retired and don't have a lot of money but we have enough to eat out. We chose moderately priced restaurants and as such landed on this one. From the beginning, the iced tea was fresh and excellent....good sign. The appetizer beer pretzels were awesome. Large plump and hot. Came with white cheese and honey mustard dipping sauces....delicious. My chicken sandwich was surprisingly good. The chicken was tender and covered with a kind of Korean BBQ-style sauce that was tangy and sweet but just a tad....loved it. The misses had tacos that were crunchy filled with ample and perfectly cooked fresh meat and a type of mild but tasty slaw filler. For dessert, we shared a blondie. The brownie was sizzling on a hot plate and covered with ice cream and numerous pecans....to die for. Some restaurants are great and some are stinkers. This Is the best restaurant in the area. I have had issues with some food, but it's always fixed. Don't order a royal flush drink because it's $7.49.
