My job site is currently in the area and someone one told me about this little neighborhood market. This little hidden community gem is absolutely a lifesaver when I only have a 40 minute lunch. I work in underground (construction) and work out every morning before work so getting a good lunch in is essential for me! This neighborhood market CARES ABOUT THE COMMUNITY that it serves and it shows! The place is filled with everyday grocery, uncooked meats and best for my needs.... pre made meals made fresh daily! The pre made meals are like my grandmas cooking!! Plenty of choices of protein and carbs! Keeps my energy up for work! The best part about this place is they DO NOT MARK UP PRICES and take advantage of its convenience!! All the workers are great and always have a good attitude! Of I'm in the area... I went there for only their tamales. Got the beef with red hot sauce and the chicken. When I got home I had them for dinner. The chicken well there was little to no chicken and the beef had very little. I hope it was only that batch. I'm still going to order more for Christmas Eve dinner. I hope I get more for the money. read more

Absolutely the best handmade tortillas in San Diego. Made daily. Thin and delicious! Has a proper deli/kitchen for your Mexican favorite foods. Butcher in the back if you want to cook/grill yourself. Just make sure you don't leave without at least two packs of tortillas! read more

I really liked this market. It may not be the largest, but large enough to carry quality Latin American & Mexican products, not to mention regular local products. I was able to pick up a corn tortilla, queso fresco, panela cheese, skirt steak, and a variety of produce to make homemade salsa. All were well priced. They have a kitchen where they roast ribs, chicken, and beef products. They also make their own pork rinds. The in house bakery offers cakes, breads, and pan dulce. Customer service was nice at the cash registers and helpful and the meat counter. read more

I usually love this store but yesterday I went there to buy meat Arrachera para coser and they gave me small and skinny pieces of flat meat I paid 28 dollars and it was some pieces of meat with lots of grease . This is my go to store. Their corn tortillas are good. Used to love their flour tortillas. Lately I have been disappointed. They put way too much much powdered flour when packaging. They are smaller than usual. Actually they are different shapes and sizes now. The meat is usually good quality but the service at the meat counter has deteriorated. Hope things improve. read more

Horrible , unsanitary food ! You should check your food daily if you are selling groceries to people . I bought some camotes and I opened the container and bite one and immediately spit it out. I then noticed the mold and the horrible smell. It's not about the money it's about people's health ! You should have a manger check food constantly to make sure it's fresh . I usually go to the Apple tree on third Avenue but this time I went to the one on Broadway and I was so disappointed. The white onions there are full of mold! I will definitely be calling the health department to report this. They are not for human consumption!! DO NOT purchase them because it will make you sick with so much mold! And the meat prices outrageously expensive there! Definitely will not be back to purchase any meat products there!! And also they have no protection for the cashiers. No plexiglass at all and when go to pay to a cashier there's one right behind you not even 1 foot in distance. Excellent market. The fresh tortillas, which are made daily are delicious. The butcher shop in the back of the store, has amazing prices. The pollo asada is delicious, very well seasoned. The meat prices are extremely reasonable. There is also a hot food station! They also offer fresh produce at great prices as well. They accept ebt, cash and credit. read more

I always go to Apple Tree Market for fresh produce, meat, tortillas, and bread made fresh there, sometimes for the already prepared food (cuz I get tired after work and they are better cooks than I am) and for the customer service!!! Oh yeah, their salsas are yummy as well. The evening managers are awesome. Rick...thank you for taking the time to get me the warm bolillos for my Dad..you too L (can't pronounce his name). Robert is also a very helpful manager and always asks if I need help with anything. I bring in carts from the parking lot and the managers see that and will go out of their way to assist me, especially for the warm, just-out-of-the-oven bread...my Dad's favorite. Sure, some items can be a dollar or two higher than chain stores, but it is not out of the ordinary for an independent store. An all-in-one grocery store!!! You can get almost everything there! I arrived at the market at 8:30 pm , market closes @ 9pm, unfortunately the carts were already locked up with lock and chain. Manager of the market who always looks angry let me know that a cart was unavailable for my shopping. Best carne asada meat literally in Southern California!! If you want the best meat for a carne asada party or family grill day you should get the shoulder clod meat or just ask them for carne para asar and they will hook you up!! I been getting my carne asada meat from here even after moving to Orange County I would still make my cousin bring me some meat for my birthday since I can't drive right now. And trust me I've searched for similar carne asada meat everywhere in Orange County and the meat over here is sadly really bad and chewy like gum I wasted money trying to test different meats in Orange County and unfortunately nothing compared to apple tree market meat carne asada!!
