You won't know what to expect. Wait times can be extremely long, even if you just want to purchase a charger, and you might not get any help at all. So I lost my place in line after I made an appointment at the genius bar because I stepped away to make a phone regarding my broken computer to consult others who knew better than me what I should do about getting it fixed? General Manager said that's just the way we do things. It'll just be 5 or 10 more minutes that turned into more than 30. Then had to leave it to be fixed. Not happy. Well it was inevitable... I was riding at about 60 mph on my motorcycle..... when the phone flew off the cell phone holder... cracked the screen and shattered it on the top left corner... made an appointment for Sunday afternoon at 2pm to have it looked at... I had previously tried best buy geek squad.... They would not fix it and told me they had to send it off for the repair... 5-7 business days... so when the nice Apple rep told me to come back in 2 hours I was extremely happy.... First off, I've gotta give a huge shout out and thank you to Stu who was super gracious and helped me with my new phone. After a very stressful and sudden phone emergency, he was super quick and helpful with setting me up with a brand new upgraded iPhone 14. My old iPhone 11 was on the fritz for a couple months now and I had attempted to charge it while at a convention here in Birmingham. With 28% battery left, my phone just refused to charge anymore so I had quickly gone to the Apple Store at The Summit shopping center to unexpectedly get a brand new phone. Stu had helped me transfer everything over, set me up with a new case and screen protector, AppleCare, all the works. Super nice guy and was conversational the whole time I was there. Even for a Saturday night an hour and a half before closing the store, the store wasn't incredibly busy and the staff here were immediately helpful. Highly recommend this location if you're looking to buy a new apple product (or need a quick phone upgrade after a frightening phone mishap). read more

I despise going to the Apple store. Even with an appointment the wait is long. My daughters iPad was not charging so I made an appointment to see what was going on. I assumed it was the charger because the iPad was brand new. We stayed in the store for 2 hours only to be told some was wrong with the iPad and needed a new one. Thankfully we were still under warranty and didn't have to pay anything. The new iPad came a couple of days later but I still had the same charger from the first one. Opened the new iPad and low and behold it wouldn't charge. I went back to the apple store waited an hour and a half only to be told that my charger was bad. This could've been taken care of on my first trip. Total waste of time. They did give me new charger. If you can avoid this store I'd highly advise it. read more

This Apple Store is located in a convenient area, right off Highway 280. Whenever I visit this store, it's always so busy! This is generally why I try to buy my Apple products with at other stores--I try to avoid the crowds. Now, I will say that I'm always approached relatively quickly when I enter the store, but then, it may be a wait to actually be helped with my issue. When I went to the Apple Store this past weekend, I was looking for iPods. My kids are too young for a cell phone, but the new generation iPods are practically phones. I also looked at the new Apple Watch. I have an Apple Watch already, but I'm considering upgrading. The lady who assisted me said she didn't think they had any iPods in the store, but Apple does still sell them. She went in the back to see if maybe there was a model she could show me, but there wasn't one. This is a high traffic area - and high volume, meaning as soon as the doors open you hear the buzz from the crowd inside. Be sure to book an appointment - we were there for my husbands iwatch and were lucky to get a same day appointment for 5:10PM... in the middle of Summit area rush hour. 20 minutes later, we walked out with the issue addressed and a new watch on its way to my husband - and everything covered under the warranty. I chose to wait outside due to the crowded conditions and I did some shopping in the neighboring stores while I waited for my husband. There are several park benches outside for those so inclined. I've come to apple at least a hundred times now and all of my experiences have been good. As soon as you walk in someone will greet you and tell you the wait time. The employees are highly trained and have never not known the answer to one of my questions. Since this is the only apple store in Alabama (besides Huntsville), it is always very crowded. Although someone greets you at the door, it can take up to an hour sometimes to get with an employee. But this is not a complaint since they have such a high amount of people come in, just something to know if your in a hurry. read more

My husband's thumb just lightly pressed on the home button and it cracked underneath his thumb and even got a glass shard in his thumb. We made an appointment at 4pm with the Apple Store; but we decided to walk in and see if we could make an appointment. They were able to see us within an hour. So glad we didn't have to wait until 4pm to get his phone looked at. Moglie helped and got us a new phone. She was amazing and cheerful and made our transition as easily as possible in getting a new phone and figuring out what to do. Barry, the guy who checked us out for the Beats wireless headphones, was really nice. He was extremely friendly and ensured that my husband's phone was set up before we left. Overall, all the people that we talked to were so nice and friendly and willing to help. Moglie and Barry deserve a pay raise. I had a very infuriating experience at the Apple Store at the summit just now. I needed help with my Apple ID. I go in with my phone and iPad and I'm met with Trent. Trent was very helpful at first. He said I'd have to wait an hour to fix the problem. He said we could wait in our car and come find him after the timer on my phone went off. So we went and waited for an hour. We go back and are greeted by a lady with long hair. She asks if we have an appointment and we don't. We have already spoken with Trent we tell her. We explain what has been going on and I ask if Trent will finish helping us. She says no but you can basically fix it at home by yourself. I asked for help because I have anxiety and was afraid of messing it up and wanted help and she turned us away and told us Trent could no longer help us. So basically we waited an hour to fix the issues ourselves. Very frustrating. Won't be going back since they don't actually want to help people who ask. read more

I came into the store looking for an MacBook. When I got to talk to a young lady about what I wanted, I found that she did not want to sell it to me. She insisted that I buy a iPad along with an Apple Pencil and a keyboard. When I looked at the total price I found that it would be much more expensive than what I wanted to buy. As to the pencil, I told her that I bought one when I bought the iPad that I had at the time, and that I never used. I was told that she had the same experience but now uses it "a lot." I guess in all fairness I should start this review by saying I am a big fan of almost all things Apple (really I don't mind PC/android platforms either). For those of you that have shopped for Apple product it is somewhat a challenge to go to a store and find what you are looking for. Many places obviously have the iPAD's and iPhones and some have Apple Watch. However most places that carry Apple product have a very small supply of computers (laptop/desktop) and Apple branded accessories. Enter Apple Store. They are what the Apple fan needs to get the Apple technology fix. They have all of the above, however they carry a great assortment of all of these items. They have several different options when it comes to MacBook and MacBook Pro. The customer service team stands out amongst the crowd as they are dressed in a bright green shirt and stationed at the area of their expertise. Very helpful staff asks if you have any questions as you walk through the various products on display. If you need support make sure to call ahead and make an appointment as they can be very crowded and waits can be very long. But, that being said the customer service is great and they do their best to get to you and take care of you as quickly as possible. Great location at the Summit so you can add some additional shopping in or grab a bite to eat. read more

It kind of felt like they didn't believe I was who I said I was even after I showed them my identification. I did not appreciate the young lady's attitude That was assisting me. JUSTIN is the man! He helped my dad trade in mom's less than yr old watch to upgrade to the new EKG Apple Watch 5 with GPS. Including unpairing and wiping the old watch, AND helping them set up the new watch complete with an iPhone software update. He was spectacular, explained everything clearly (sometimes multiple times) and incredibly patient with my not very tech savvy parents. A very good store for products, servicing, repair, and general understanding of everything Apple. I've been here several times for device issues in the last three years, and they are consistent with service and fix your problem as efficiently as possible. In my most recent visit, I also found out they have other things available like phone upgrades through carious carriers and also workshops they do from time to time..pretty cool. I believe now it is recommended that you make an appointment with them through the Genius Bar, so make sure you do that. It will cut down a lot of time. The staff seems very efficient in trying to manage wait times by their iPads and headsets while walking around. It is amazing how fast the staff works with you once you are helped, but my only complaint is that even if you have an appointment on busy days, you still may have to wait a little while before someone can come to you. I usually wait about 20 minutes or so; that's not terrible, but I would still plan out an hour at least when you come here just to be safe. Overall, I recommend and will come back should I need something Apple related. It's convenient and nice to have one here in Birmingham! read more

Wander in and regardless what you need, you'll probably be directed to stand in line where you'll tell another person why you're there. That person will then probably tell you to stand in line over there and that someone will be with you shortly. God bless corporate America. The people are affable and seem genuinely happy to work there and equally focused on good customer service. They just have an odd obsession with lines and sending you to someone else. It's a little like walking into a sitcom. The employees are clearly shipped in from a secret Apple warehouse full of people that try to look cool, hip and trendy... you know, like a 1980's Seattle grunge band. I go to every corner of this town and I don't see people anywhere else trying so hard to look counter culture so I can only guess they are iHolograms, iBots or if they just ship them in daily from Cupertino. Again the employees are nice, they just try way too hard to look like they don't work for the most heavily monetized corporation in the world. In this case, I went for warranty service on my laptop. They confirmed my diagnosis and had my laptop back in just a few days. I was pleasantly surprised with the turnaround time. Would I shop there? Nah. Too much hassle, too crowded and too much faux coolness for my tastes. I prefer to shop online where the lines are always short. For warranty service, it's the easiest of the options so take courage in hand, make an appointment, get in line, get transferred to another line, talk to the guy in flannel with the cammo hat and pray for the best. ;) read more

This Apple Store has a phenomenal crew working there. I've been in for phone issues a few times and have had exceptional customer service every time. Today I was there for 4.5 hours while they fixed a technical issue, then puzzled through an impressively complicated billing situation. Employees stayed after their shifts and no one called it quits until everything was straightened out. They're resourceful, smart, personable, and funny. I don't go to the Apple Store expecting a quick fix. I go expecting them to be able to help me - as long as it takes. I'm satisfied every time I have to make the trip to Birmingham. My most recent visit to the apple store was during the COVID 19 pandemic. These guys literally have social distancing down to a science. They split everyone into 3 different lines. 1st line is for appointments; 2nd line is for people who know exactly what they want, they just need to purchase it; and the 3rd line is for people who don't know exactly what and they want and need to look around. My visit was for a specific watch band, but I wasn't sure what style and what size I needed since I upgraded my watch just an hour before to a bigger size. I waited maybe 10 minutes in line #3 and was cheerfully greeted by an apple employee. Everyone was required to wear masks, employees also had on gloves. There were maybe a total of 12 people inside the store. They asked if they could check your temperature before even choosing a line to get in. They didn't make it mandatory to have it checked, but I liked that they were checking them. This was a great experience and I felt very safe during my shopping experience. read more

I have never been so angry in all of my life. My $969 iPhone that is still under warranty decided it was going to stop charging. After dealing with a misbehaving battery for a couple of months. I called 1-800-My Apple and was told to visit the nearest Mac Retailer in Montgomery which is 1 1/2 hours from my home, when I went I was told I needed to go to the Apple Store in Birmingham, which is another 2 1/2 hours away from home. Okay, fine. After getting stuck in traffic I get there to be faced with the fact that I needed an appointment, and the next available was Wednesday. Well, after speaking to a manager (Adam) and explaining I am looking at an 8 hour round-trip ride he didn't really care about my plight. It was disheartening for someone who has purchased more than 10 iPhones, has an iPad, MacBook Pro, and iMac. I am so annoyed, I have no idea what to do with myself. read more

I always have great service here. If you know what you need, you can purchase it online and just pick it up in-store. The staff is always helpful and work well together. They bounce tasks off of each other by headsets and iPads that keep the queue rolling. Once you are assigned a person, they will help you get what you need. I made an appointment for the Genius Bar the next day and was again greeted and helped by many positive employees. Horrible experience. Went in to get a phone fixed. Instead of connecting to iTunes and restoring phone, made me wait for 44 minutes kept referring from one to other employee and took the store to the back, where I have no idea what they did and said it was a hard ware issue. They could not fix it. After that they forced me to buy a new phone and on their end they write that I asked for an upgrade. I had to pay $440.00 for a new phone and I did because o thought I had no choice, it was Sunday evening and I was driving long distant at night and did not want to leave without a phone. As soon as I left the store, my original phone started working, by then they were closed. Now I have two phones that I don't need and they just SCAMMED us! Beware!!! read more

Brought in my iPhone 12 Pro with battery life issues. I have to charge this phone 4-5x per day. It's within the 1 warranty but because my battery capacity isn't at 80% (it's at 90%) apple cannot do anything despite the phone dying multiple times daily. Chris at this store recommended I get a portable charger and go to another store once I'm done traveling. The entire issue is traveling with a phone with an unreliable battery life. Zero help. Hire employees who take customer concerns seriously. read more
