This store excites me every time I go into it and walk by. In recent years I cannot deny that I have completely bought into Apple and the branding and so on. I am not as crazy or geeky as other people but I could still hold my own in an Apple off!!! It was such a treat to have an apple store based in Belfast. Not only for the privilege of having a store close by for browsing. But more for the logistical reasons of having help close by repairs and tech support. They have a great customer service service which allows you to book an online appointment with a member of staff to discuss your problems or to carry out repairs. They also have group and one to one classes and presentations orientating customers to products and software. Apple really are becoming an ultimate mobile electronics company and so much more.

BB8!- was so tempted to buy him!!!

I've been an Apple consumer for many years. In fact, the only smartphone I've ever had has been Apple. Until earlier this month, I decided to move to the dark side and get a Samsung android, so I donated my iPhone 6 to my partner. It had a broken screen though, so we went to have it fixed here. From the moment we walked in, staff were so helpful and knowledgeable. All the latest stock was on display to entertain us as we waited, and the phone got repaired quickly! Good service!

Having gone out with an Apple geek in the past I have heard enough about Apple to do me a lifetime. I have since banished this boy, but I did quite well for myself having acquired various expensive Apple products like laptops, iPods and headphones for my 4 years of services rendered! Result! Most recently a computer, the aforementioned ex bought for my parents broke and I had to go about getting it fixed in the Apple Store in Victoria Square. Although you have to wait a lifetime on the phone to get through to the technical staff, once you do they are really helpful. They are really efficient and even offered to wipe the hard-drive for free, which was really cool of them. Unfortunately that didn't work but they are reinstalling a new hard drive for £170, which is pretty reasonable I think. The guy, Ross, was really cool and friendly and explained me what was up with the computer through analogies about record players! It worked though! I'd recommend asking for him for any technical queries. The store itself is pretty cool, clean, slick and white and a bit clinical. I'm not really into gadgets and would only come in here out of necessity. I have to get a new iPod soon after a housemate drowned mine in a pool of water (iPods can't swim!!) and know I will be looked after by staff.

Apple really has marked it's place in society with stores like this! No longer are they that 'other' brand of computer and ever since they release of the I-Pod things have gone global! It is now cool to own an apple product. You are not cool or trendy if you do not listen to I-Tunes on your I-Pod. The I-Phone is the only phone. I-Pad. Nuff Sad!! Well, this is what they and society would have you believe. In retrospect they products are ridiculously overpriced for what they are and are often plagued with 'technical' issues. I still want the all though. Shallow much?

The Apple franchise is even taking over the little cities now, stretching all the way over to our wee country to claw at us with their expensive gadgets, fancy expensive laptops, really good expensive ipods, the new 'i-want-one-now' expensive iphones... It was inevitable as Apple grew that eventually something like this would happen but thankfully we were prepared and rather than storm the store demanding everything and a loyality card, complete with a picture of Bill Gates falling over, we just called in to see what it was like and then called out again. The Apple store is a pretty special place. Having never been in one before, it is the closet thing to actually owning the gadgets without actually ever spending the money. The layout is designed to get you to go in and play with the stuff before someone with a beard comes over and tells you for just how much you could play with this forever... or until it inevitably breaks, as does your heart and your bank balance. The staff cannot be faulted. Though they are drilled to sound like factual robots, they do seem to take pride in their job, and if you want to buy something quite often you will be told everything about the product before you pay... some people might think they want to know everything about it but really, if you want to stand with your credit card out for 15 minutes feigning interest then be my guest. My friend forgot his charger in the wee laptop area upstairs where you can go and update computers and play games or something. The member of staff kept it over for him and put it in a little Apple store bag for me which I paraded around town until I saw my beloved cut-price Primark and I felt like I had cheated on her discounted tshirts with those coporate fruits. The Apple store is the only place I would go to if I was looking for an Apple product. Argos and phone shops wouldn't make me feel confident handing over my millions for a little phone that also comes with a spirit level. Despite marginally robotic staff, the shop is excellently stocked and you are well taken care of.

It is what it is. Overpriced lust. Apple is lost on me to a large extent, and I'll explain why. The iPhone, certainly far from the best smart phone available yet people will pay in excess of £40 a month for the privilege. The new one for example is plagued with software issues, serious concerns over call dropping and has a slower processor than many of it's smarter rivals. The iMac laptops on offer in this post modern, minimalistically decadent store begin at well over £1000 for a proper one (not counting the under powered white cheap plastic model). For say £1300 you get a laptop with reasonable computing power, able to run most programs without problems or fuss. For £1300 in the world of PCs you could build a machine which would make NASA proud. Ok, in the long run they may be more stable (they do crash, I've seen them do it) and they are fantastic pieces of engineering, but, they have no personality, you can't add or customize or take-away, your mac... is someone else mac. The price, excessive beyond excessive. The software limitations are endless (although the large desktop macs are superb for page and graphic design). Anyway, that was my rant over. The iPad doesn't require any argument against because it's so self-explanatory that I won't waste your time. The store tempts the weak minded to part with huge sums of cash, they should know better.

The guys who work there are really, really helpful and always manage to fix any problems with my computer or die trying! Their prices are based on labour and parts supplied. They charge the parts to cost and the labour is always very reasonable. Its the type of place that's going to need people to return for their services so they don't want to annoy anyone or rip them off. I've had experiences with the larger chain store repair shops such as Tech Guys in PC world and it just doesn't compare for price and quality of service. Definitely recommended.

With computers being a bit of a 'dark science' for me I always felt a bit suspicious when in the past I was quoted certain amounts for repairs and replacement parts. Being baffled with jargon seemed to be the sales technique so it was with some trepidation I lugged my fried desktop down to them. The shop itself is quite big with a small 'internet area' for browsing etc and there was a fair selection of computers and accessories for sale. I basically wanted to see what could be salvaged off my hard drive and the guy said it would be a simple (woohoo) operation with no definite guaranteed outcome. A week later he rang me to say he'd got the hard drive out intact and I could simply pop it into my new desktop whenever I got one and the data should be there. Result especially as I thought I wouldn't be able to get the data off or would have to pay big money for an expensive salvage operation. Great service and very helpful, definitely worth the trip downtown. Pros: Clear talking jargon free staff. Cons: Not the easiest to find.

I said I could not afford that at the moment and would take my computer and come back when I had the money. The man told me I could safely leave my computer with them until I had the money to fix it and this I did. When I got Christmas over I went back to the shop. I was told they didn't have my computer there but he would find out where it was and ring me. He didnt but I called in again and was told that it was up in their Glengormley warehouse and they would get it down for next week. Next week I called and the guy said he still hadn't received it back. I called the following week and he told me he had got it back but they couldn't fix it and there was no point in me taking it and he could sell me a second hand one. I told him no I wanted my own computer and would try elsewhere to get it fixed. He insisted that my computer was useless and not worth me taking back from him. I told him no I wanted my own computer. He told me to come back the following week. I came back the following week and was told he was waiting for a part for it from Dublin. I was baffled as they were not fixing it so what was the part. Anyway I was suspicious all along that they had before Christmas removed parts from my computer, ie dissected my computer and were now trying to put it together again. He told me he would ring me but of course he didn't so I called in the next week; another man was there who said nothing and just handed me back my computer. I dreaded what state it might be in. I took it to a repair agent, whom I knew to be reputable. He told me that whoever worked on it last had damaged the hard-drive beyond repair and that the motherboard was damaged. I was not surprised that the inside of my computer was destroyed and was dubious that the hard-drive was even mine. I suspect that after removing my good hard-drive and using it, they stuck an old faulty hard-drive into my computer, as my hard-drive was perfect when it went into their shop. I am writing this to warn others not to use these cheaters, who stole the hard-drive out of my computer and handed me back a computer which is scrap.

I'd just been told by another hardware shop up the road that they couldn't take out the defunct watch battery for me for insurance reasons which sounded excessive for my little old cheap watch. Admittedly I wasn't very au fait with all this because the need to replace a watch battery is an extremely rare occurrence for me. For some watches you do need a jeweller to take the battery out which is a different matter. Anyway I'd found the whole exchange frustrating so I wasn't hopeful when I went into AMC Service Centre. Totally different story, however, because the man smiled, immediately reached for a battery and sorted out the whole thing in no time, first checking if my watch needed a jeweller, immediately recommending somewhere if I did, all for £2.50. Otherwise, AMC Service Centre is a small, old fashioned sort of place that specialises in vacuum cleaner repairs and part with other hardware/electrical suppliers. If my experience is an indication of the rest the business it's a gem.
