Apple Daycare has been opened for almost 30 years. We care about children and treat them with the utmost respect. We are part of the State of Utah's childcare nutrition program, and serve food that is fresh and meets this programs standards. Constantly, we are having to purchase fresh milk every week and we don't have storage space for the milk that is leftover. This means new milk is constantly on our shelves at any given time.
Also, our childcare staff is served meals alongside the children. We all eat the same food. If this milk you were speaking of was ROTTEN, then our workers would have caught the spoilage of our fresh milk. Since opening our doors in 1985, not once have we been found in violation of our food standards.
"The children aren't watched at all". This statement is untrue. Our facility is licensed for a particular number of children given the size of our facility and staff. We are constantly audited and inspected without notice by the State of Utah and have not been found once in violation of our children not being watched and accounted for. We pride ourselves in making sure the children are given the love and attention that is necessary for them to grow and develop.
The incident with the ear pulling is correct, but is much more complicated than describe by the reviewer. Her child consistently disobeyed a childcare worker that was concerned for the well-being of our other smaller children. Her child, one that is over 100 pounds, was bouncing a ball off the face and head of younger, smaller children. When asked to stop abusing(bouncing balls against faces and heads for intimidation) other children he not only disobeyed, but disrespected the childcare worker verbally in the presence of other children. She over-reacted and pinched his ear and told him that was enough, and was directed to time-out. This was not the best way to handle the child, and due to her conduct was let go.
It is unfortunate that this mother left us. She had been with us since January of 2013 and left our care as of June 2014. Had this been common treatment from our workers, this mother would have left us long ago. This was an isolated complex incident, and once again it is unfortunate to see her go.
As for the over-charging parents accusation. If this were true, the parents card issuer would decline the transaction and due to the license of our program the State would immediately be notified, and an investigation of fraud would be underway. Not once in our existence have we been found of such behavior, since 1985! This accusation is untruthful, and unfair.
Our goal is to attend to the developmental needs of our children, in an environment that is conductive to their growth. They are given individual treatment for each of their own particular growth needs. They will go to class where they will learn the basics of academics that prepares them for the next level, and supplements their curriculum at school. We love our kids and we always try to go above and beyond to see they are safe, happy, and engaged. Thank you for your time. read more
