My daughter did sliver crown today and got drilled all the gum around the tooth and big skin come off inside area , like little holes on her gum , I did acrylic nail thought the same thing, should not take any skin off from the finger ,right ?! She keep bleeding when she back home and crying all the time, even more we realized the tooth next to the sliver crown got damaged, it deep to the nerves, she feel sensitive whenever she drinking or eating. We had Bor and Angela last appointment, the whole treatment was smooth, my daughter come out with happy ,they were very sweet and gentle, Unfortunately, we got room today ,they don't even know how to contact the machine make me nervous, looks too new , sorry to said that , I just don't feel right at the moment, but they said full of experience, so we chose to trust them , she was very nice but my daughter got hurt so bad , I need to bring her to fill the damaged tooth . I initially liked Apple dental, but I found it odd that they would only give you a referral to their internal orthodontist. When I asked about getting a referral slip to see someone else, they said they couldn't provide that. I requested a release of records and it's been over a month. I have not received the release of those records, after going in person, completing forms being informed I would get the paperwork within 24hours - nothing. Calling 2x leaving messages for follow ups - no return call, sending an email and no reply. At this point I am just waiting until April to go somewhere else for my son regular dental appt at a new place. read more

Apple Dental Care policies do not sit right with me as a first time parent.. as someone who likes to keepsake everything for my child our morals do not align.. I also worked in a dental office myself and we always gave the teeth back to the parents no matter the state so again this just didn't sit right with me. my sons first tooth has been wiggling for a while now and at his last visit it was suggested that we should have it removed as an infection looked to be starting in the gums.. the dentist also mentioned that if the tooth fell out at home that would be okay too. I booked the appointment just incase it didn't end up coming out on its own. Today was that appointment, at this point the tooth was super wiggly and when he was brought into the room I told the hygienist that and she stated she would let the dentist take a look to see if he needed to be numb. The dentist came in looked at the tooth and started to place a purple substance around the tooth and pulled it out in seconds my son was shocked as she was setting it aside she then after the tooth was already removed mentioned that I would not be able to take the tooth home, surprised and shocked I replied "I can't" in which she then stated "no we have a policy we don't let teeth go home, but you can take a picture" my phone was dead so she took it for me and emailed it but I remained puzzled and started to get sad as we checked out that i wouldn't be able to keepsake it or put it under his pillow tonight.. I left the office pondering what they would even do with it so instead of going back inside I called the desk and told the girl that answered I was just there and was now seeking to retrieve my sons tooth whether the policy stood because it's just a weird policy to be in general. The girl placed me on hold however I could sense she was going to take longer and my parental gut told me that the longer she was the more likely they were going to throw it away so I walked back inside the office while on hold and told the girl I was on hold to retrieve my sons tooth and was not happy with this policy she asked me to take a seat and called over who I assume was the office manager who told me that it's their policy not to send teeth home in which I told her again, that's weird because what are you going to do with it? In which her response then was to see if she could find it and then I told her once again wanted the tooth and would also like to remove my son as a patient.. they asked me to take a seat and "went to look".. when the manager came back she asked me to step into a room and again informed me it is there policy not to send teeth home and the tooth had already been discarded .. hearing this angered me so I began to cry and cuss because what is the point of the policy and discarding a child's first set of teeth without giving the parent an option to keep them if all you do is throw them away. At which point she said it's a liability and a hazard once they leave the office which again still made no sense cause what do they think parents are going to do stick them back in the kids mouth? I could tell they were going to keep saying the same thing so I informed them I would call the police because this was immorally sound, I knew the cops wouldn't come but I knew in my mom gut I needed to do the best I could to get his tooth back or at least time in which my sons pediatrician called me back after asking for his opinion and asked to speak to the manager. While waiting for them to call my pediatrician, the manager and her assistant began to speak in Spanish in-front of me about me.. (I'm mixed) but look more black but understand and speak Spanish fluently, making comments about why I even called my pediatrician, that's that's not going to change anything, that I was being difficult... My pediatrician informed me after the call that they claim to have told me before the appointment that I do not get to take the teeth home and even signed a document that day in which I told him the only form I signed that day was for insurance coverage , however he did state that he told them they should have reinstated this policy because the actual removal so that I could make the decision, he also informed me that they were dismissing me as a patient for being irate and verbally abusive at which point I really didn't care about anymore because I had already said when I went back in I no longer wanted to be a patient. They were just trying to save face because they have no legitimate reason to do what they did & and I'm the problem for sticking up for myself and my son but that's not their problem cause they get money either way.. If you are a parent that cares about the sentiment of events Apple dental is not for you or your child. read more

I had been working down a list of dentists that might be taking Medicaid/AllKids for a pediatric followup for my daughter. Many of those listed, I was only able to leave a message or told me they did not accept Medicaid. When I called Apple Dental Care on Wednesday, the scheduler did have to put me on hold (no problem, that's what speakerphone is for). When she got back, she confirmed that they were seeing new patients including those with Medicaid. We were able to schedule an appointment for the following Tuesday. In the end, one of the previous dentists that I had left a message with (twice) called me back to schedule for the next day and is closer to home for us and was the original referral from our regular dentist. We saw them instead and cancelled our appointment with Apple Dental Care. I still wanted to give Apple a nod because they were able to answer the phone and serve Medicaid patients (one of the few on the north side reaching out from Rogers Park). One note of caution that their COVID measures wouldn't allow me as parent to be there I believe during procedures - so while scheduling get clarity on this - I'd imagine you could communicate with the dentist/hygienist before as well as after the checkup/evaluation before scheduling/authorizing additional procedures. read more

Coming from a pediatric dentist background I should have known! You heard horror stories about places like dental dreams and Apple dental. But I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Worst idea ever. I brought my daughter here for her cleaning and then got treatment. First off, the assistant brought my daughter back to start her x-rays and her cleaning even though I was still working on the paperwork. Not once was I asked if there were any medical issues, allergies or medications she was taking. My daughter just had tubes placed in her ears, and her tonsils removed. She's healed from the tonsils but is sensitive to loud noises. The "cleaning" was finished in about 45secs. And that's stretching it. When the provider came in she immediately started checking my daughter's teeth without introducing herself. She then went on to tell me what treatment was needed and without any further information then told me to go to the front desk and schedule. About three weeks later my husband brings my daughter to her appointment, I know I was not there for this appointment so I can't really say how it went. But all I know is she screamed and kicked even bit the dentist, until she was strapped down. All went "well" and was sent home. Upon arriving home I checked her teeth and noticed the stainless steel crown placed on tooth L was extremely high. To the point the right side didn't touch. It was pretty late so I had to wait for the next day to call them and schedule an appointment to get that fixed. She was scheduled for Thursday the 11 of January. We get to get appointment and the assistant brings her back to take an X-ray. I go back with her, the amount of time and tries the assistant took to get a PA was unbelievable. I've worked in dental for 15 years 10 of which were in pediatric dentistry and you can tell the assistants aren't well trained. Not one smile, not one reassurance that they're doing great! Not one single word that will make a child feel safe. After the struggle of the X-ray (I even asked if they needed help with the X-ray) she took it and the dentist came in to take a look. And said crown should take a couple of weeks to seat properly. I'm not a dentist but I sure as hell know that doesn't happen! Once the cement sets theres not moving unless it's cut off. So now I have a child with a poorly placed crown with an open margin on the distal giving it direct access for bacteria to re-enter the tooth and cause more issues. And possibly a phobia to any dentist that comes near her. So many red flags here!!! Cross contamination/ poorly trained staff. IF your assistants can't handle working with children they shouldn't be in a pediatric office! Sure, kids will scream and kick. In my years of pedo, I've gotten bitten/ peed and puked on. And not one single time did we not do a good job because of a scared child. If pediatric dentistry isn't your thing find another job! read more

Let me first say I am happy with the outcome of the orthodontic work by Dr. Obaisi, she is great, kind, and professional. However my issue with Apple Dental is due to the staff you have to interact with outside of the doctor. Their attitudes and unprofessionalism have progressively gotten worse. To be blunt the feel is that of a bunch of mean teenage girls with horrible attitudes, even though they are adult women. Before reading my review, my advice would be to not get stuck here, my daughter received her braces and is now in retainers, so her progress has to be tracked. I will be looking to get any other work done at a different office due to the absolute rudeness. This place has steadily declined. I've brought my daughter to Apple Dental since the age of 6, she's now 14. We first started out at the Fullerton location, which was great. We have always been frequent flyers as my daughter was prone to cavities and had crowding. So understand that this review is based on MANY visits, but a phone call today has left me completely disturbed. I called to reschedule an appointment, after waiting on hold for a bit. One of their many receptionists picked up, let me add that their receptionists speak very quickly, there's no pauses taken between words or sentences. I'm not sure if they realize they speak so quickly or if they even care. I asked to reschedule for next week to which I was asked a question about insurance. Now keep in mind we've been going to this location for about 5+ years. My daughter has gotten braces installed and removed during this time, my insurance as far as I know was on file. So I genuinely did not understand the question and absolutely no context was offered... The receptionist abruptly asked "is it health or dental insurance" I'm sorry what are you asking... "is it health or dental?" It should be on file, what are you seeing? "Do you understand my question?" No I don't, what is in your system, are you asking me an affirmative question or a declaration question, how are you upset that I'm unsure what you are asking without context... At this point she states in a very nasty tone... "I don't understand how you don't understand the question, do you have medical or dental insurance you don't understand and you want to yell, how don't you understand I will have someone call you at a later time." CLICK! So of course I had to call back because what I called for was not addressed, reschedule the appointment. I called back and spoke to 'Rita' who was quite snarky herself. I explained I called to reschedule and was hung up on. She placed me on hold and then came back and asked what day would you like? I asked what's available for next week? She said what appointment do you want, so I said Tuesday at 4:30... not available, Wednesday at 4:30, not available. You could just tell me your latest available next week... do you have Thursday at 4:30? We have Thursday at 4:00 which i went ahead and booked. I then requested the manager, who was unavailable, and received her email address. As soon as my daughters progress and tracked I will never return to apple Dental Care, they treat ppl like numbers instead of humans. Don't get stuck here like I did. read more

My daughter and son went for a check up in February. They detected my son's 2 cavities But not my daughters severe tooth decade and cavity she had on a mollar. Later that day my daughter had diner and a piece of her tooth broke off. We called the next day for an emergency check up. They said that the earliest day they had was in May. I feel terrible that I took my son here. I saw some great reviews which is why I initially chose this practice but it must be for their different locations, because this place was not at all what I was hoping it would be. My son is 3, and this was his very first dental appointment. We were taken back to a big room with about 8 chairs in it, all with filled patients and different dentists. My son had to sit and watch a kid next to him freaking out which in turn made him nervous and close to crying. It was chaotic and not at all a professional setting. I should have left but didn't want to make my son more upset for any future visits so we powered through this. First off my daughter had a apple for today and I get a call that the orthodontist won't be in. So I'm flexible and agree for an appointment for Friday. Then I have to ask what measures they are taking because of the pandemic, they proceed to tell me only the child is allowed in the open bay or room and no parent. I tell them I'm not comfortable leaving my child alone. They tell me it's not apple dental making this rule it's a law Governor Pritzker put in. I then call the IDPH (Illinois department of public health) and look on line at the cdc and see it's a guideline not a law. I proceed to tell them I get why they are doing it but I am willing to be the first or last appointment. My child gets anxiety being alone and won't verbalize to a stranger if something is wrong. I ask and speak with Monica (I assume it's the office manager) to see if there is something we can arrange. I tell her I get double booking or limiting us asking for too much because I know businesses got hit hard with the pandemic. She tells they just want to provide the service for the patients and are focusing on the patients but it was ultimately my decision if I'm not comfortable then we can push the appointment to mid August ( which we did) and see how things are. Mind you my child's last appointment was in March and I get the pandemic happened, but it's only been once that they asked for pictures to see her progress in 4 months. I told Monica if im not the only parent with this type of concern why not choose one day in the month and help the patients even if you only see a few patients when you're use to seeing more. Again I am not blind to what's going on and the pandemic, but if u are working on the child (whom lives with the parent) then ultimately you are already exposed to that household. Plus using the rooms instead of the open bay is some way of controlling traffic. I guess the fact I've had other negative experiences with them is exactly why I told people I know not to come to this facility. Plus only one orthodontist only in on Fridays is ridiculous. I took the option of getting the tooth pulled. They did the COVID test. It took two weeks to get back to me. When they did, had to show up within two hours for his surgery. It turns out they decided to give him three crowns and didn't even bother to work on the tooth that needed the most attention. My son is still crying and in pain and this all happened 8/3/2020. I would recommend others to search elsewhere cause they never gave me no paper work or even explained what they were doing and on top of all of this they never numb my sons mouth! I've been here twice and waited over an hour both times. Dr. Baker and the staff never even acknowledge the wait. My kid then sat in the exam room breathing nitrous for 15 minutes and I had to ask if the doctor was coming. They finally came in, numbed her up and disappeared again for 15 minutes. There is zero communication from them. My daughter and I were frustrated and stressed out (first filling) and they hadn't even done the procedure yet. Don't come here unless you have no other option. Post-appointment update: they somehow screwed up the nitrous, so my daughter was freaked out, was not calm or sedated at all, they strapped her to the seat, and had to have someone hold her head down. She screamed the whole time. I should have listened to my gut and left but they had already started drilling. They kept looking at me like "what should we do?" As medical experts they should know how to properly administer nitrous and keep children calm or distracted. I am so incredibly angry. Maybe the other dentists are better? I was referred to this location by my daughters primary dental office who come to find out could have been doing the simple cleaning that was done today. Joselynn(misspelled probably-sorry) Was incredible at her job. She tried her best to keep my 2 1/2 year old calm. Knowing it was gonna be a tough time she was effective and comforting of my daughter and myself. Her teeth look great. She has no cavities woohoo. I used to go to bring three of my 4 children to Apple Dental Care while we lived in the nearby area. Then we ended up moving South so it was a bit of long commute for us without a vehicle. Anyhow as their mom, I unfortunately made the mistake of bringing them to a closer pediatric dental office that just opened. After bringing them there for just one appointment, I realized how much more professional the staff and doctors are at Apple Dental Care. Even though the office is extremely big the staff tries to make the most of helping each and every patient. They can get very busy at times but that's because it is truly a great clinic with staff & doctors who have experience. This office accepts private PPO insurances along with most Medicaid insurances which is great. It's extremely hard to find a good clinic that accepts State insurance as well. If you shall have any detailed questions to ask and the front desk doesn't have the answer or they may be busy, feel free to ask for the office manager Isabelle. She would be happy to try to answer any questions you may have as a parent and prospective future patient. As a parent to three children who are ages 5 & under, I love that the clinic has a small play area with a slide, they can watch a movie on the tv while waiting, the clinic even has a carousel for the kids to ride (parents provide the quarters of course) and if you don't have change the front desk usually will! For the children who have to get extractions, this can be a painful & scary ordeal for most kids. I wouldn't tell the children the process my suggestion would be to let the Dr they will be seeing try to explain it to them and help calm them down beforehand. Once the child comes out from the process, they can be given a balloon to try to cheer the child up. And before you leave the front desk could provide the child with a toothbrush and you could schedule a follow-up appt (if you'd like). Otherwise parents are able to also call when they have their schedules in front of them as well. I had a great experience here. My 4yo needed a tooth pulled but I was told on the phone they would not be able to do so and would cap it. I was not able to go back with him but he did wonderful. After reading other Yelp reviews I was very hesitant on being my 5 year old son in for work ( he needed a cap put in and I was terrified for him! ), but I was gladly surprised even just from our consult. The staff is all so kind and polite and the dentist themselves are AMAZING. I was told there would be a possibility of having to wrap my son up so he would sit still, but that they would try everything they could beforehand. And I was shocked when my 5 year old sat completely still and even said it was 'fun' while the doctor completed her process. The doctor had very creative ways of explain the process to my young son while she did it, and he was never scared or worried. Apple Dental Care - My little girl after a visit - Pediatric Dentists Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I was referred to Apple dental by an adult dentist who saw my child's cavities and knew they would be better addressed by a pediatric dentist. waiting room is a good size and kid friendly, had some toys/rides (that were closed because of COVID), had balloons for the kids, etc. much larger office than I was used to before (there's 5+ receptionist plus a large number of rooms and different medical professionals). There were screens in the waiting room and a screen right by the dentist chair, which helped distract my kid. X-ray was a lot more kid friendly. Dentist and what I assume was her assistant, though, seemed to be in a rush, didn't talk much to me beyond the initial assessment, I couldn't catch her name because of a heavy accent and masks (even though I did ask her to repeat), and I overall did not walk out of that appointment as well informed as I would've liked to be. My child had multiple cavities, as well as a sensitive gag reflex so they basically just told me we found x number of cavities, we need to put crowns on them, given age and number of cavities and sensitive gag reflex we will do it under anesthesia go talk to this person in the office to schedule. This child is my oldest, it was the first time I had heard of using anesthesia for regular dental procedures, and I did not feel like they informed me much about the different options, what it would entail, what to expect, etc. The woman who dealt with scheduling had more information for me and was helpful, but the earliest appointment time for a procedure like this was 5-6 months later (done in office - if done in the hospital there was a year or two wait). Thankfully my child was not in pain - not sure how that could've worked otherwise. Over the next few months I talked with different people who informed me that anesthesia is normal for this kind of thing and that it is recommended in a case like this. I also was told that Apple Dental was one of the best ones on the list that took my insurance. Scheduling the procedure once they had some openings took time. And then the first time we scheduled they canceled on Friday for a Monday appointment because the anesthesiologist wasn't available that day. My child had the procedure done yesterday - after they called me the day before (at least I had some warning that this day was a possibility) - and I had a much much better experience this time around and highly recommend the staff we worked with. The dentist (they call him Dr. David) took the time to introduce himself, explain step by step what he would be doing, what to expect, etc as well answered any questions I had. He was calm, patient, friendly, and seemed to really care. He emphasized that he would take his time to make sure the job was done well. The SmileMD staff (the anesthesiologist company) were also amazing - the paramedic who we mainly talked to was informative helpful and calm and also took the time to explain things and answer questions. The anesthesiologist herself seemed experienced, introduced herself, reviewed the steps of what would happen and overall seemed capable and things went well. The office staff can be hit or miss when calling - sometimes they answer the phone right away, other times you have to wait a while (I figured out to just call back a few times until that initial pickup happened otherwise I just waited "on hold" for a long time and no one ever picked up). They're overall professional and quick, it's just a busy office. Parking is hard in that area - expect to pay for parking on the street. The woman I worked with for scheduling - Diana - was friendly and attentive and I had a good experience with her (just know that you won't always get through to her and she doesn't respond to email typically). hope this helps read more

My daughter Lilly was a fist time pt. We walked in about 30 min prior to the appointment just to make sure we have enough time to fill out paperwork. It's very beautiful open space really attractive to a child's eye. Well designed and decorated. I started filling out new pt forms as my daughter laughed and played at their mini indoor play place. After a while about 5-7 min after our appointment time Ashley came and called Lilly's name. Took her to a very open area with 8 dental chairs and it was okay a little uncomfortable but I understand. I guess that was their new pt exam area however the sensor was not working for the x-ray and just small technical difficulties which happen and I'm understanding to them. They moved Lilly into a more private op which made me feel more comfortable. Once Ashley took the X-rays she explained what was gonna happen next she was so loving and caring and really knew what she was doing. She was a master at taking X-rays her approach to the child was amazing! Later once the Dr came in she examined Lilly asked all the appropriate questions and really shows interest in my daughter oral health! Once her treatment was explained she was very detailed on why she made the decisions she did and what I could do at home to prevent further treatment. Dr Ali "Alyssa" was very nice very educated and took her time to answer any questions I had even tho there was another pt waiting I didn't feel rushed it was an amazing experience we waited a little due to the technical difficulties but that wasn't in their control. However it worked out for the better because they had a no show right after Lilly's appointment and offered me that spot so of course I took it. All the front staff personnel were very kind specifically Aracelli (sorry if misspelled) she's very professional-patient and well educated she either had the best training possible or a ton of experience. Which ever it is she's amazing and Apple Dental is lucky to have someone so caring determined and knowledgeable. I can honestly say they are amazing very big well staffed and it seems like they're so big that they wouldn't provide pt with such passion and patience as they do and it's amazing. You could see they care about oral hygiene and the best care not just by how many pt they see! I will definitely be bringing Lilly back in and her sisters! Also once Lilly went in for treatment Jocelyn was her assistant and she was so quick and professional such a great dental assistant ( and this is coming from a dental assistant) she made a wonderful team with the Dr. they worked wonderfully together making Lilly's visit fast and calm! Still no call . Now I have to find another doctor to check sealants and wait for insurance insurance to cover another set of X-rays .

We were referred here to have my 8 year old daughter go under for fillings, extractions, and crowns, etc. our case was moderate, which I thought was severe. I was nervous, my daughter was scared. We both didn't know what to expect. (Of course I didn't let my daughter know I was worried) Having the play ground there to play on, was absolutely amazing and helped with so much anxiety , she would have felt other wise. My daughter is fair skinned and blonde hair (anesthesiologist made me feel comfortable when pointing out, with out me stating, that fact.) then I knew she was in good hands. Sometimes my daughter can be very dramatic, It helped her feel so confident after having fun before going to lay in a chair to be put to sleep. They made me feel better explaining everything. A gentleman grabbed my hand and laid in on her, which made me feel more comfortable. I was really nervous with the "may cause death thing" The anesthesiologist was amazing. The pediatrician dentist was great on keeping me calm and walking me through everything. Within the hour my daughter was awake and ready to go home. Had 2nd adult walk down to the Walgreens as recommended a few stores down to get Motrin. We drove home for about an hour and a half and she was back to normal. No more complaining about the pain. She had a setting with another dentist under laughing gas, was a bad experience. I would def recommend this location. 2 hours later eating but trying to get use to it. But not even noticing or making an comments about all her work done. so I my self and Maybel, both greatly appreciate all the doctors and staff on my daughters case today. read more

Great dentist. Only complaint is the wait time is a little ridiculous in my opinion, they expect you to be on time when you schedule your appointment but will leave you waiting for 50min-1hr to be seen. They obviously are over booking themselves, leaving long wait times which is very inconsiderate for the patients. Otherwise, nice clean dentist and good staff no additional complaints. read more

Have you ever seen a veterinarian take care of cattle ? That is what this place felt like . Don't expect to be in a room with privacy to see a dentist. You'll be in a large open area with rows of chairs right next to each other . The chairs are three feet apart and there's one bench between two chairs for parents to share. You'll be sitting next to some other family and unintentionally getting their medical history. There are computers and equipment shared between multiple techs without cleaning in between patients. All in the name of getting patients out as quickly as possible. The lackadaisical attitude to the cleanliness of a facility where there are bodily fluids is just sickening. My child said it was like something out of a horror movie. I'm sure there will be fallout from this and my kid will get sick from whatever we left that place with. read more

This practice does not seem to know how to verify Heath insurance coverage by simply calling the providers number on the back of the card. The practice kept trying to get me to provide my husband's social security number. Plus they were pretty rude about it. No thanks! read more

My sons both come here. Upon taking my oldest for the first time after he turned one, I wasn't sure what to expect.-was he going to be hysterical and cry? Would he not care? After checking in, we sat down and he was immediately entertained by the movies they have playing. There are plenty of toys for the children to play with and the office itself is clean and bright. He behaved wonderfully and opened his mouth as instructed. The only problem I had was that initial visit I waited too long to be seen but since then, I have not waited long at all. Staff is friendly and make the children feel comfortable- although there are some that cannot be comforted for the life of them...and they tend to scare the other children as they are screaming bloody murder but what can you do right? read more

I'm writing this review based on my experience, first time I went to Apple dental I called them and I was lucky to get an appointment the next day, my daughter is 2 years old she fell on her face and broke her two front teeth one tooth changed color and we were told by the doctor that she's suppose to extract both teeth I was honestly comfortable to extract one since the second one wasn't infected, I was very nervous since my daughter is only two I was so worried she would be in a lot of pain the doctor came in I believe her name was DR. Kil , she explained the whole process then laid my daughter back and placed an iPad placed on top of her head she had cartoons to distracts her she already has the laughing gas to calm her down, the Dorctor was very carrying and the tooth extraction was very quick I was very relieved after and honestly didn't think it was as bad so I though it was . I read a lot of bad reviews but based on my experience mine was great I would bring my child back again!!! read more

I took my son here for his first dental appointment and I was not dissappointed. The staff was super friendly and the environment was so cool for the kids. They have toys and multiple TV stations for the kids to watch cartoons. The service was pretty fast as well. They have multiple dentist on hand as well as dental assistants that take care of the xrays and cleanings before the doctor comes to do the check up and answer any questionts that parents have. My son was excited to be there and was happy when he left. So glad this was a first good experience, and this will be our permanent dental spot. read more
