Tooth cavity
Christian C.

My daughter and son went for a check up in February. They detected my son's 2 cavities But not my daughters severe tooth decade and cavity she had on a mollar. Later that day my daughter had diner and a piece of her tooth broke off. We called the next day for an emergency check up. They said that the earliest day they had was in May. So I decided to call a new dentist location for a second opinion and immediate care. They took care of it right away. Here is an image of what Apple Dental overlooked.

CDC guideline
Christy J.

First off my daughter had a apple for today and I get a call that the orthodontist won't be in. So I'm flexible and agree for an appointment for Friday. Then I have to ask what measures they are taking because of the pandemic, they proceed to tell me only the child is allowed in the open bay or room and no parent. I tell them I'm not comfortable leaving my child alone. They tell me it's not apple dental making this rule it's a law Governor Pritzker put in. I then call the IDPH (Illinois department of public health) and look on line at the cdc and see it's a guideline not a law. I proceed to tell them I get why they are doing it but I am willing to be the first or last appointment. My child gets anxiety being alone and won't verbalize to a stranger if something is wrong. I ask and speak with Monica (I assume it's the office manager) to see if there is something we can arrange. I tell her I get double booking or limiting us asking for too much because I know businesses got hit hard with the pandemic. She tells they just want to provide the service for the patients and are focusing on the patients but it was ultimately my decision if I'm not comfortable then we can push the appointment to mid August ( which we did) and see how things are. Mind you my child's last appointment was in March and I get the pandemic happened, but it's only been once that they asked for pictures to see her progress in 4 months. I told Monica if im not the only parent with this type of concern why not choose one day in the month and help the patients even if you only see a few patients when you're use to seeing more. Again I am not blind to what's going on and the pandemic, but if u are working on the child (whom lives with the parent) then ultimately you are already exposed to that household. Plus using the rooms instead of the open bay is some way of controlling traffic. I guess the fact I've had other negative experiences with them is exactly why I told people I know not to come to this facility. Plus only one orthodontist only in on Fridays is ridiculous. I can see it was way too many patients for her.

This is the tooth the dentist was suppose to pull out and instead ignored it

Anyhow as their mom, I unfortunately made the mistake of bringing them to a closer pediatric dental office that just opened.

The exam room has a TV on the ceiling so kiddos are distracted while dental work is being done. Kids also get a token to use for a prize once the exam is complete. Standard cleanings have gone really well. Recently, my daughter fell off of her bike and landed on her face. Everything seemed fine until two weeks later when one of her front teeth started turning gray. We called the office and were reassured that all should be fine, teeth bruise, and as long as long as she is not in pain and her gum looks ok we can wait until her next exam which was only a week and a half away. I felt so much better. I cannot imagine a better pediatric dental experience!

Everything about the office is super exciting and inviting -- especially for a two year old! I don't think he felt an ounce of fear. The dental hygienist did a great job showing him the tools and being so patient with him. It warmed my heart to see how much they truly care about the kids. They have tvs on the screen, which I think makes for the perfect distraction. He flossed, got a cleaning, and then our dentist, Dr Shah, came in and looked over his teeth and gave us some tips/tricks for brushing with a two year old. She is great and we feel like our little guy is in the best hands!

They charged me about 450$ for nitrous gas and the treatment. He would not sit still. He has terrible anxiety about the noise and the look of the instruments. The Dr. who was extremely pleasant and patient said she would give him a temporary sealant. This temporary sealant fell off while we were flossing and brushing. They set up a new appointment and quoted me 105$ and after we went the second time the charge was 275$. How did something go from 105 to 275? 675$ for one tooth that was never filled after three visits? Sinful. Today we went to get the regular check up at our dentist around the corner. The dentist told me that whatever they filled the tooth with has fallen out. I'm 675 plus out of pocket and there is still a cavity in his mouth that has not been filled. This Yummy dental is a scam for either people who have money to burn or your insurance covers everything. Will never be going there again. I'd like my money back. Send me a check.

Even though the office was clearly busy, I never once felt rushed or like just another patient on a list. The entire team was incredibly attentive and genuinely focused on making sure I was comfortable and okay. I ended up needing a crown, and they handled everything right then and there, no temporary fix, no waiting weeks for a crown. The fact that they were able to complete the entire procedure on the spot was impressive on its own, but what stood out even more was the quality of the work and the care behind it. Jackie and Dr. Rob were exceptional. They walked me through everything, made sure I felt at ease, and checked in constantly throughout the process. For something that could have been stressful, they made it seamless. I'm beyond grateful for the level of professionalism, efficiency, and compassion I experienced. Couldn't recommend them more. Thank you again! Ps: even got an eye mask and hand mask to relax later!

The doctor repeatedly emphasized how busy he is, which came across as rushed and somewhat dismissive. Before proceeding with treatment (Botox for TMJ), I reached out via email and phone with specific questions, including a request for him to consult with my neurologist, which my neurologist recommended. I was told that the doctor deemed the consultation unnecessary and that he would address any questions at the time of the appointment. I was also told he was too busy to review my questions in advance. This made it difficult to feel fully informed or confident going into the procedure. I decided to pursue the procedure anyway. To his credit, during the procedure he did answer my questions and agreed to treat the requested area. However, at my two-week follow-up, I reported increased pain that had been impacting my ability to work and function. The doctor shared a story about another patient he described as someone who complains all the time. The story felt indirect but strongly implied that patient concerns like mine might be exaggerated. This made me feel uncomfortable and dismissed at a time when I was seeking support and clarity about worsening symptoms. Additionally, while in the waiting room, I observed another patient being questioned in a similarly dismissive tone when she asked for additional help post-treatment. This reinforced my concern about how patient concerns are handled in this practice. Overall, while the procedure itself was completed, the communication style, lack of responsiveness beforehand, and dismissive handling of post-procedure concerns made this a negative experience. I would encourage others to ask detailed questions in advance and consider whether this practice is a good fit for them. Long-term results of my treatment experience are yet to be determined, but I will not be returning due to the unprofessional manner in which the provider speaks about, and to, patients.
