I was really excited to give this theatre a try, but unfortunately I do not think we'll be back. Walking in it looks like a nice, clean theatre with ticket kiosks and a large snack selection. Our matinee movie ticket was $13. Candy was $6 per item. We passed on the popcorn. The bathrooms did not seem very clean, and one of the faucets was broken. Entering the theatre and walking up to our seats at the top, the stairs were soo dark I tripped, and we ended up having to use our flashlights to find our seats, because the row and numbers for the seats were missing (we were the only ones in the room at that point). We finally counted to where our seats were, and the recliners did not work. The leather was cracked. No one told us these seats were out of order. We tried some next to them, same thing. Thankfully it was not a busy showing and we were able to find seats that were unoccupied and working. But it seems crazy to me that they are ok selling a regular-priced ticket for a broken and cracked recliner. The overall quality and sound of the movie playing, however, was good. read more

This used to be my go to theater. But unfortunately, it has taken a nose dive. When I went to see the movie Sinners, the staff shut the movie down before it was finished. Well, the movie kept playing, but without sound and with the lights on. Everyone in the theater stood up and was trying to figure out what to do. We went out into the main area and could not find any staff anywhere. Eventually, someone went upstairs into the private staff area and was able to locate someone. They convinced them to give us vouchers for a free movie. But that doesn't fix the fact that we didn't get to see the end of the movie. The next time I came, it was to see the movie warfare. I was only about three minutes late, past the start time of the movie, but they started the movie early and did not play previews at all. So I missed the first part of the movie, which was really strange. I've never experienced that before. I don't know who they've got employed back there running things... But they don't seem to care at all. read more

I've been wanting to see the movie A Good Person, since it was released a few weeks ago, the movie theater closest to me hasn't been playing it, so I drove to Apple Cinemas in Simsbury. Upon walking inside I noticed the self check out for purchasing your ticket. You can also order your food and drink, as well as select your seat at the same self checkout. They have a bar here, so you can take your alcoholic beverage to the theater with you. My ticket was $14.00, on Tuesdays the ticket is $8.00. The theatre is very clean, it's brightly lit in the hallway to indicate where you're going. The seats are leather like and they recline, I wish they were a bit longer, I can't say these seats are the comfiest movie seats I've ever sat in. The sound quality and the picture quality were excellent. I would come here again. read more

My husband and I decided to head out to Apple Cinemas in Simsbury to escape the summer heat and from beginning to end it was not just a disappointment, but an epic fail. I had purchased our tickets on line, but the staff was unable to scan my QR code so I had to give them my information again. Then I ordered a soft pretzel and a soda. There are two self serve soda machines but neither had any regular coke, so I asked the staff if there was another source to get regular coke and I was told no, but that I should be able to find something that would satisfy me because they had soooo many choices. By the time they finally came back with the pretzel the previews for the movie had already begun, (we arrived 15 minutes before the 2:00 time), and the theater was dark. To get to our seats we had to go up a few steps which were not lit, (there was apparently some old, worn orangish tape on the top step), and I took a fall which sent my pretzel flying and was not only an embarrassment but caused some extreme discomfort with injuries to my hand and legs. My husband was able to get another pretzel without paying after he told them what happened, but there was absolutely no expression of concern. When the movie was over we asked to speak with the manager. It took some time for him to come out and we explained the situation and showed him the most obvious of the injuries and he took a photo and my information. Again, absolutely no expression of concern or even the most remote care. After three days I sent a comment about this to the website "Contact Us" option, (the only way to contact them on line), and it has now been more than a week with no word from any representative from the theater. I am still bruised and uncomfortable, and there is no way I will ever go there to see a movie again and I will never recommend this theater to anyone. Not only do I strongly feel that this theater is understaffed and managed badly, but it is also unclean and dangerous. read more

Absolutely gross. Was there a few months ago and floors were sticky, bathrooms unclean, I thought it was just a bad day. Yesterday went to first show of the day, bathroom floor so sticky your sneakers stuck as you walked. Inside theater candy, chips, popcorn in the seats and on floors, floors sticky, and tray tables on seats tacky and dirty. First show of the day, so no one had cleaned from the night before. Surprised we did not see bugs. Never again, will make the drive to Plainville or Manchester. read more

This theater was nice. The night we went it was a bit of a ghost town. I think there was only one person working. The tickets are self serve and even the popcorn is self-serve. The snacks were fine, and the seats were comfortable with moving tables for your stuff. All in all, a good experience just a little strange how empty it seemed. read more

This is the weirdest movie theater of all time and I'm convinced that it's some kind of money laundering front. I usually go on Tuesdays when they have discounted ($5!!) tickets and they vary rarely sell many, so you usually have the theater to yourself. Pros: -lots of concession options including alcoholic beverages -very clean theaters with more than enough seating -can't beat $5 movies Cons: -selection of movies is EXTREMELY limited. I don't know how they decide what to show but they're usually missing some major blockbusters -I saw House of Gucci here and the whole thing had Spanish subtitles for seemingly no reason -they charge a fee for booking online, which is weird because in person it's the exact same UI. It's such a great Tuesday activity that I'm sure I'll be back, but would I pay full price? I don't think so. read more

This was an odd experience. We arrived and had a little trouble with the scanning of our tickets but was able to get it to work. We ordered our food. We were told to wait then we're told actually there was none left of what we ordered. Weird. They seemed short staffed and scrambling a bit but clearly doing their best. What left a bad taste in my mouth was how dirty the theater was. Clearly they weren't cleaning between showings the floors were filthy and so were the trays to put your food on. Hoping our next visit the theater is a lot cleaner. read more

The old Simsbury theater was always good for a movie if you didn't want to see a first weekend Marvel flick. Dependable if a bit stodgy. Since being taken over, the new owners have finally put a few dollars into The place and it shows. The recliner seats are modern comforts with a charger and a tray. And reserved seating. Electronic ticketing though it was weird. No one scanned our ticket. We just walked in. Some of the theaters are too small for me but this is now a good choice for some movies without having to go the Plainville. They even have a Dolby atmos one. Solid. read more

Not a bad theater - decor is a little interesting, I'm not sure it could accurately be described as vintage but it's kind of a muted vibrancy? The seats are a little smaller then most reclining theater seats, but still plenty of room and LOTS of space between rows, so you can recline and not come near the person behind you, and someone can still walk in front of you. The theater I was in was a little small, not stadium style seating and only about five rows, but it was clean and everyone in the audience seemed relaxed. Bathrooms were pretty clean as well, although it took me several tries to realize the dispensers on the sink counter are decorative and the neon green liquids on the wall was, in fact, soap. The refurbished theater is great! Comfortable recliner seats, with a swing out table and cup holder makes for very enjoyable movie experience. The picture and sound are perfect. The best feature has to be the self serve popcorn station. You are able to add a little popcorn, then a little butter, then more popcorn and so on. This was the first theater I saw this setup and I think it's great way to allow guest to tailor their enjoyment to their taste. read more

This has been our goto theater for years now. It's usually a pleasant experience but today I went to see the new Deadpool movie. I get into the theater (screen 2) and there's audio for commercials playing but no projection. I go out and tell the attendant (who was very pleasant) and she said it sometimes happens but not to worry it will come on for previews. The time for previews comes and the commercials end with the "silence your cellphones" announcement then... nothing. Muzak starts playing and the screen stays black. I go out and tell the attendants again and again am told to give it a minute and it will start up normally. Fifteen minutes of muzak later I go back out and tell them. This time one of the attendants comes and verifies that yes, there is muzak playing and the screen is black. He shrugs and suggests I wait a bit longer and maybe the movie will start. Sheesh, I miss the days when I worked in a theater and there was a human up in the projector booth, loading the films and starting the movies. read more

This place is weird. It's almost devoid of human interaction, sadly. You buy your tickets at a kiosk, then head into a theater...there's not even a person checking tickets. The only people are at the concession stand. If this is the future of cinemas, I think I'll just watch movies at home. read more

Unfortunately we haven't been able to come here for a few months, but this was always our go-to theater before the pandemic closure. The ticket prices are reasonable, and the new ownership had finally started to add stuff like comfy reclining seats, easy to use electronic ticket kiosks, better food options and alcohol. The women's restroom could definitely use a remodel and the concession prices are still too high (which is a problem at all theaters, not just this one!), but otherwise this is a good little theater. read more
