I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had at AMC Plainville this evening. My family and friends are avid movie goers; most of have AMC A-List and after tonight's experience, we do not know if we can continue to support AMC. A group of 12 of us went to the movies to see the new Captain America movie; we all were in the same row but entered the theater at different times since some of us ordered from the concessions. One hour into the movie, an AMC worker entered the row and asked my friend to follow her out of the theater. Security was waiting at the front of the theater. A few minutes after my friend did not return, his girlfriend, my dad and I left the theater to see what was going on. We walked to the lobby to see 7 AMC workers surrounding my friend. We immediately walked over and asked what was going on, in which my friend told us that they are accusing him of recording the movie on his phone. The only evidence they had was a picture of a screen which was incredibly grainy, and you could only see the back of a person's head holding a phone. The picture was so grainy, you couldn't really even identify this person at all. They stated that the person in the video recorded the first 35 minutes of the movie, including the previews. My friend and his girlfriend MISSED the previews since they were ordering $70 worth of concession stand food (they have the receipt to show the time when they ordered the food) so obviously the person in the video could not have been him. Even the young woman who served them the concession stand food (who was one of the AMC workers surrounding my friend, which again why did they need to have 7 workers, including a security guard, surrounding him for allegedly recording a movie) confirmed that she served him at concessions. My friend also showed the AMC workers his photo library to show them that he did not record the movie at all and they said that he could of already "sent it, emailed it, or send it to the cloud." They told my friend that he needs to leave the premises or they would call the cops. My friend asked them to call the cops. The police officers arrived and even said that they don't think it was him in the picture (because even grainy, looks nothing like my friend), but said unfortunately since AMC is a private company they have the right to have people removed from the premises. My friend was being extremely respectful and understood that there was nothing that can be done other than contacting corporate at this point. Extremely, extremely disappointed in AMC. Like I mentioned, we are avid movie goers. Even during COVID, we would rent out private theaters so we can still continue to support and it's something we always look forward to doing. This has tainted our experience so much. AMC workers absolutely profiled my friend as someone who would record movies illegally and I'm writing this review to warn others. They escorted him out of the theaters and as they were walking to the lobby, my friend politely asked them who they were looking for and they were silent. They literally treated him as a criminal without having any legitimate proof that he did anything wrong. They also surrounded him in the center of the lobby area, as many people walked by and it was extremely humiliating for my friend. We are considering never supporting AMC again unless this situation is rectified. We have spent thousands of dollars at this theater just to be treated like criminals without proof. read more

The sound system is fantastic and the place rumbles and vibrates accordingly with the action on the screen. And the quality of the images on the screen were crisp and clear. We bought our tickets at the lobby bank of kiosks and reserved our two seats. By not patronizing the concession stand we interacted with zero human beings - no cashier, no ticket taker, no usher. Nada. We just came back from the 12:05 showing of The Boys in the Boat. Our Senior tickets were nicely priced at $10.09. Thank you for a fantastic customer experience. read more

The seats were really comfortable they reclined the theater was very clean and they made everything fresh for us. The movie quality was really good I really enjoyed honestly how clean the seats were the most. They offer a wide variety of popcorn sizes and snacks and drinks. They have mozzarella sticks and sliders as well as hot dogs and candy. They have slushie machines and the soda machines where you can mix match or pick from a bunch of different types. read more

My movie spot! I signed up to be a free AMC stubs member and with my membership it includes 5$ Tuesdays! What a affordable option to take the kids out for a nice relaxing evening. Forget taco Tuesday, this is my new to go! Along with the great ticket price deal, AMC also included 5$ popcorn and icee deals til Jan. 2023 which was a hit for all us to be able to enjoy a nice snack during the show. Tonight's movie choice was Wakanda Forever which ended up being phenomenal. The recliner seats were clean and cozy and the quality of the big screen and sound were on point. The crowd was moderate and seating was spread out which was nice. I love the option of buying online and picking your seats before you go. Such a great feature and such a convenience to be able to book ahead. I'm so excited to see what the girls pick for the next Tuesday movie night! read more

For a special treat, we brought our kid to see Star Wars ROTS today. 28 years later trailer before Star wars?!?! Had my kid in tears before the movie. He missed the beginning of the movie, because we had to calm him down. Manager was like, nothing I can do. Couldn't even get a sorry out of the guy. At least say something nice to my. This mega theater is a significant distance from our home, but the seating alone is worth the journey! Power recliners! The only issue, staying awake during the show. Oh one more challenge, how to master drinking a soda or slurpy freeze in a horizontal position. Today, Mama Bear and I decided to venture out to see a first night release of the Western Star with The Boss. We purchased reserved recliners online, uploaded the tickets on My Wallet app, walked the Red Carpet to the "Ticket Taker" (Scanner), and proceeded to the theater. Being 45 minutes early and stuffed from a dinner out we took a chance and peeked inside. Empty! Sweet, in the recliners, dull lighting, Mama snoozing, and the Nerd it Yelping. What could be better? The guy that checks your tickets when you walk in literally does not stop speaking you will be late for your movie.

Now I get why people bragged about this movie theater. The reason I came here instead of my usual choice near home was because it was one of the 3 theaters in Connecticut that is showing a Dominican movie "Que Leon" and I had to see it and glad I did as it was hilarious as expected. As a proud millennial I loved how easy it was to purchase a ticket from a kiosk and I was able to select our seat at the same time. The seats are super comfortable. Red leather recliners. Didn't get to try anything at the concession as we had dinner prior and were stuffed. Is pricey but you pay for what you get so, it's definitely worth it! This is one of my favorite movie theaters, which (in the interest of disclosure) may be due to the fact it's a good meeting place between myself and best friend who lives on the other side of the state. But I digress. For a place bustling with people, the facilities are kept reasonably clean. Like most movie theaters, this varies depending on HOW bustling it is. I have found it's best to book your tickets ahead of time. No matter where you pick a seat, someone is going to sit next to you. It's like a law of the universe. Tuesdays are about $5.00 a ticket, so the place is packed then. Luckily the parking lot is huge, so you're not going to be circling endless to find a place for your car. The seats are pretty clean, and as a request to any customers who may be reading - when you drop something, please pick it up for us germophobes out there! read more

I go to this theater because it's close to home. It is conveniently located near a dollar tree, if you catch my drift. I just have the app to order my tickets ahead and the friendly ticket taker guy tells me a little fun fact about one of the actors in the movie. The seats are comfortable. I do wish they would turn up the a/c a little higher in the summer, but it's usually not terribly uncomfortable. The downside to this theater is that they really need to hire some maintenance staff to maintain the concession area and the bathrooms. Multiple times the bathroom has completely run out of soap and is just disgusting. For the amount of money people spend on movies/ refreshments, etc you'd think you could count on a reasonably clean bathroom and maybe not slipping on ice cubes. Definitely not the case. Based on how everything looks in the evening, I'd be willing to bet nobody cleans up anything at all during the day. I get that people in general are pretty awful, especially when they're able to help themselves to things, but it's not a good look when you can't take five minutes to sweep up spilled popcorn when needed. read more

Rude staff. Insisted on only taking exact change at the concession stand because of Covid. Bill was $30.10, these people wouldn't take $30.00 or $30.25. It's bad enough the food is offensively overpriced, two small popcorns, a slurpee, a bottled water and a box of generic brand raisinettes cost over 30 bucks probably, three times their value. But to have to deal with these kind of stupid policies in addition to aggressive attitudes from the workers is beyond the pale. I've waited tables and operated a gas station during the pandemic, both jobs require exchanging cash. There's no excuse for punishing the customers like this. If you're so afraid of the pandemic that you can't exchange cash then just close. read more

Expect to be carded if you look under 25 for a rated R movie or if you are A-list. There greeter is amazing and knowledgeable. I wish the IMax seating would get upgraded but the Dolby is comfortable. The couples seating is nice when you have someone with you. read more

We saw the movie Emily in theater 7. The lights were on through entire movie, washing out the screen. My husband left the theater to ask someone to turn off the lights and was told they were having problems with that theater. The movie was excellent but the experience was disappointing. read more

Comfy seats, 20 screening rooms, Coca-Cola Freestyles, and unlimited popcorn and butter. What more could a movie loving girl ask for?? The large red seats with adjustable foot rest has truly made going to the movies even more delightful than years past, though it is now necessary to reserve seats ahead of time because those movie screenings fill up fast! There is always plenty of parking due to being located in a huge Lowe's plaza in Plainville, CT. My favorite part of this particular theater is the ability to fill your bucket of popcorn with as much butter as you want and to choose from tons of different soda options with the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines now available. Take note there is a Dollar Tree in the same plaza if you'd prefer to pay $1 for a box of Milk Duds instead of the $6 they are currently charging at the theater. The only downside to this theater that I have seen is the bathrooms tend to be dirty without paper towels available to dry your hands. The air dryers they have tend to splatter water everywhere, causing the counters and floors to be constantly wet. read more

I know this review is helping no one but me but I just had the most upsetting birthday there. My friends took me to see a movie so I didn't bring my ID which fine ok I understand needing that so a very nice employee asked me if I had a picture of it, when I got one, a blonde, corpse-like manager with the black emotionless eyes of a shark, told me that they couldn't accept that despite being asked if I had it. THE ID WAS MINE. JUST A PHOTO VERSION. IT IS NO DIFFERENT. Birthday plans ruined, and it was too late to do anything else. Anyway instead of causing a physical fight and doing 20 to life I decided to come rant on here. This is our favorite location from all other, but it seems either the website or the mobile app are miss informed. Not food or drinks and allowed even though if you bring your own. I felt kind of upset because it could be just a made up excuse to not vacuum or clean the Theater. It's a bit of a drive from my house but I love this theater not only because of the wide variety of movies they play (both wide and limited release) and the comfort of their reclinable seats. Honestly I love the fact you can choose your seats and their app allows you to know if their are seats available before you even get in the car. It means that it is rare that you will end up heading to a sold out show or not get seats "together". All the theaters are clean and well taken care of and there are a variety of food options if hunger strikes. read more

Clean and modern theaters. It have recliners that are on stadium seatings (which is elevated ) one row to the next ( Not a flat floor plan with recliners). The elevated rows , allow unobstructed view of the movie even if the row in front of you stand up. These are one of the better recliners that I have experienced in AMC's reserved seating compare to NYC or Long Island NY theaters. I wish they have the elevated row in my area.
