This is definitely the better AMC in the area. They show more movies and allow IMAX and Dolby, which is a game changer. The popcorn and drinks are hit or miss. And there's always ample parking. Warning: the bathrooms are always filthy.

I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had at AMC Plainville this evening. My family and friends are avid movie goers; most of have AMC A-List and after tonight's experience, we do not know if we can continue to support AMC. A group of 12 of us went to the movies to see the new Captain America movie; we all were in the same row but entered the theater at different times since some of us ordered from the concessions. One hour into the movie, an AMC worker entered the row and asked my friend to follow her out of the theater. Security was waiting at the front of the theater. A few minutes after my friend did not return, his girlfriend, my dad and I left the theater to see what was going on. We walked to the lobby to see 7 AMC workers surrounding my friend. We immediately walked over and asked what was going on, in which my friend told us that they are accusing him of recording the movie on his phone. The only evidence they had was a picture of a screen which was incredibly grainy, and you could only see the back of a person's head holding a phone. The picture was so grainy, you couldn't really even identify this person at all. They stated that the person in the video recorded the first 35 minutes of the movie, including the previews. My friend and his girlfriend MISSED the previews since they were ordering $70 worth of concession stand food (they have the receipt to show the time when they ordered the food) so obviously the person in the video could not have been him. Even the young woman who served them the concession stand food (who was one of the AMC workers surrounding my friend, which again why did they need to have 7 workers, including a security guard, surrounding him for allegedly recording a movie) confirmed that she served him at concessions. My friend also showed the AMC workers his photo library to show them that he did not record the movie at all and they said that he could of already "sent it, emailed it, or send it to the cloud." They told my friend that he needs to leave the premises or they would call the cops. My friend asked them to call the cops. The police officers arrived and even said that they don't think it was him in the picture (because even grainy, looks nothing like my friend), but said unfortunately since AMC is a private company they have the right to have people removed from the premises. My friend was being extremely respectful and understood that there was nothing that can be done other than contacting corporate at this point. Extremely, extremely disappointed in AMC. Like I mentioned, we are avid movie goers. Even during COVID, we would rent out private theaters so we can still continue to support and it's something we always look forward to doing. This has tainted our experience so much. AMC workers absolutely profiled my friend as someone who would record movies illegally and I'm writing this review to warn others. They escorted him out of the theaters and as they were walking to the lobby, my friend politely asked them who they were looking for and they were silent. They literally treated him as a criminal without having any legitimate proof that he did anything wrong. They also surrounded him in the center of the lobby area, as many people walked by and it was extremely humiliating for my friend. We are considering never supporting AMC again unless this situation is rectified. We have spent thousands of dollars at this theater just to be treated like criminals without proof.

"I'm working so hard, I'm working for the company I'm working so hard to keep you in the luxury" (Jagger/Richards) Luxury is the key word of your AMC Plainville 20 Experience. Big luxurious upholstered chairs that will likely put whatever you have in your living room to shame. And if you can locate the push button below your cup holder, you'll discover that your seat will recline as the footrest ascends. The theater is neat and clean and downright gorgeous. The sound system is fantastic and the place rumbles and vibrates accordingly with the action on the screen. And the quality of the images on the screen were crisp and clear. We bought our tickets at the lobby bank of kiosks and reserved our two seats. By not patronizing the concession stand we interacted with zero human beings - no cashier, no ticket taker, no usher. Nada. We just came back from the 12:05 showing of The Boys in the Boat. Our Senior tickets were nicely priced at $10.09. Thank you for a fantastic customer experience.

Me sitting in front of my seat I love these little tables that they have here

The seats were really comfortable they reclined the theater was very clean and they made everything fresh for us. The movie quality was really good I really enjoyed honestly how clean the seats were the most. They offer a wide variety of popcorn sizes and snacks and drinks. They have mozzarella sticks and sliders as well as hot dogs and candy. They have slushie machines and the soda machines where you can mix match or pick from a bunch of different types.

My movie spot! I signed up to be a free AMC stubs member and with my membership it includes 5$ Tuesdays! What a affordable option to take the kids out for a nice relaxing evening. Forget taco Tuesday, this is my new to go! Along with the great ticket price deal, AMC also included 5$ popcorn and icee deals til Jan. 2023 which was a hit for all us to be able to enjoy a nice snack during the show. Tonight's movie choice was Wakanda Forever which ended up being phenomenal. The recliner seats were clean and cozy and the quality of the big screen and sound were on point. The crowd was moderate and seating was spread out which was nice. I love the option of buying online and picking your seats before you go. Such a great feature and such a convenience to be able to book ahead. I'm so excited to see what the girls pick for the next Tuesday movie night!

Dolby Cinema, great sound and screen quality!

Went to see the Renaissance Movie this weekend. I had such a great experience watching this movie in Dolby Cinema. Great seats and very comfortable.

Cons (which are minor) involve: Some of the seats needed to be re-postered, as the leather was clearly worn, and some of the plastic around the cub holders were significantly peeling away. Normally I wouldn't say anything but for a a theatre with a premium feel I feel like I had to mention. In addition, we went in the winter and theatre was very warm. Located in the heart of Blue Back Square, this six-screen boutique theater trades the traditional crowded lobby for a sophisticated, lounge-style atmosphere. The Seating & Atmosphere The highlight of the Cinépolis experience is the fully reclining leather seats. These aren't just standard loungers; they are oversized, plush, and offer plenty of personal space. With only 359 seats across six auditoriums, the environment feels intimate rather than cavernous. Each seat is equipped with a service button, allowing you to summon a "ninja-like" waiter who handles your orders discretely so as not to interrupt the film. The bill is discretely provided at the end of the showing. The chairs have seen better days in some instances with worn leather services, but they are still plush and comfortable just do for an update. Cinépolis moves far beyond just popcorn and soda. Their full-service menu features chef-driven items that you'd expect at a trendy gastropub rather than a cinema: Truffle fries, lobster rolls, artisan pizzas, and "Nacho Supreme." * The Bar: A sophisticated selection of craft beers, a curated wine list, and a specialty cocktail menu featuring hand-crafted drinks like their signature margaritas and seasonal mules. * Weekend Brunch: On Saturdays and Sundays, the theater offers a specific brunch vibe with $6 Bloody Marys and Mimosas available until 3:00 PM--perfect for a late morning matinee. The "waiter service at your seat" is the defining luxury here. You can order everything from your phone via the Cinépolis app before you arrive, or simply press the button at your seat for a refill or a second round of appetizers. They offer .. * Discount Tuesdays: If you want the luxury experience on a budget, tickets are significantly discounted on Tuesdays, and Happy Hour deals often run late. Give yourself time and arrive about 20-30 minutes early. This gives you time to settle into your recliner and look over the menu before the lights go down. Use the municipal garages in Blue Back Square; the theater is a short walk from the Isham or Memorial garages or of your lucky enough find a paid spot on the main road. Directly next to Gabriel's steakhouse you can really have a very nice dinner and show experience .

The Witch's Dungeon Classic Movie Museum is a classic movie monster museum that opened in Bristol,…read moreConnecticut in 1966. It was founded by local artist Cortlandt Hull. As a young boy, Hull was frequently ill and occupied much of his time by building Aurora monster plastic model kits. He soon became fascinated with movie makeup and how it could transform an actor into a fearsome creature. Hull was disappointed with the "Chamber of Horrors" at many wax museums, so he decided to open his own horror museum. He started building life-size monster figurines. The first one he built was "Zenobia, The Gypsy Witch". Hull's father Robert helped him build a Swiss chalet-style building to house the full-size monsters, and the museum officially opened in 1966 when Hull was just 13-years-old. As an adult, Hull worked in the film industry creating art prints as well as creating special effects make-ups. He made a lot of connections with various actors and make-up artists over the years. His museum continued to grow and the monster figures continued to improve. For several decades the small museum was located on Hull's home property and was only open during the Halloween season. In the 2010s, the museum relocated to the Bristol Historical Society. There was more room for the monster figures and Hull was also able to showcase many of the authentic movie props he had collected over the years. The museum moved to its current larger location in Plainville in time for Halloween 2020. It is now open year-round, not just for Halloween. I have visited the Witch's Dungeon several times over the years since I was just a young boy. I still remember that first visit very well because it made such an impression on me. I'm a huge fan of the classic movie monsters. I've enjoyed watching the museum grow and improve over the following decades. There's an impressive collection of various movie artifacts and props, but the real stars of the museum are the full size figures of classic monsters that appeared from the 1920s to the 1950s. Some of my favorites include the Frankenstein Monster, the Phantom of the Opera, Count Orlok, the Fly, and the Werewolf of London. The latter was portrayed by Hull's great uncle: the late actor Henry Hull. If you're a fan of horror films then you must visit the Witch's Dungeon Classic Movie Museum!

It was founded by a group of Trinity College students that included Peter Stott, Ted Kroll, Peter McMorris, Charles Rumsey, James Hanley, Anne Risdon, Larry Stires and Randy Man. The group of film-obsessed students made a home for themselves in a little-used lecture hall inside the Clement Chemistry Building. The room, unfortunately, possessed troubled acoustics. Within two years, and with the help of Ralph Mauro from National Theater Supply and Lonny Jennings at Dolby, the sound issues were rectified and the room was transformed into a recreation of a 1930s film house. The grand opening (a double feature of "Alice's Restaurant" and The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine") was sold out. Cinestudio screens a variety of second-run, independent, foreign, and classic films. The single-screen venue has a seating capacity of approximately 485, 4K Digital Cinema systems, as well as 35mm and 70mm film projectors for use in studio archive presentations. Cinestudio features a spectacular gold Austrian screen curtain that rises at every show, real balcony seating, and the gold lion courant insignia. I recently visited Cinestudio for the first time. I read about it and an online article and couldn't believe that I had never heard of it before. I parked in a small parking lot on Summit Street and followed the sign which led me through a stone archway. As I walked along the Main Quad, I saw the neon color-changing lights of Cinestudio. Entering Cinestudio is a blast from the past. I purchased my ticket at the Fred Pfeil Memorial Ticket Booth (only $10 a show) and then headed to the concessions area where I purchased a giant bucket of popcorn for only $5. A volunteer told me, "The balcony is nice, but if this is your first time here then I recommend the lower level. You can hear the sound system much better." The interior of the theater was absolutely gorgeous with red accents. The film that I was seeing during my visit was the 1978 remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers": part of the theater's ongoing series "Our National Nightmare: 2026 Anxieties in 1970s American Film". Many screenings at Cinestudio are introduced by a guest speaker; this one featured Roger Benham. Although I have seen this film a number of times before, this was my first time seeing it on the silver screen....and it was so much more frightening now. This was my first visit to Cinestudio, but it certainly won't be my last!

It was a fair work place and is no longer a safe work place. One of my greatest concerns is the amount of hours provided for crew. The pay is often very low and the effort made is not worthwhile. It has been frustrating to them that part time staff are also not getting a reasonable number of hours. There have also been issues with time off and sick leave. There is not a lot of clarity around paid sick time, and workers need to know more about what benefits they can receive. The company also provides few benefits other than the food discount and movies for free. Another problem is that when new procedures or changes are implemented, they aren't properly trained. Often employees will be required to work without proper warning or training, creating unnecessary stress in the workplace. I would not recommend this job to anybody else. There are other opportunities out there that provide more stable work hours, improved communication and a more respectful environment.
