I really like this store. The staff are friendly, and it's never as busy as the Buchanan Street store.

This isn't technically a bad branch of PC World. It's quite big, spread across two floors and…read morethere's tonnes of parking space if you've driven here. It has a large range of items available and a good selection within those. You'll fine laptops, tablets, printers, TVs, cameras, speakers, and household appliances. Plus cables and accessories. What you'll probably struggle to find is what you're looking for or anyone who can help. After wandering the store for ten minutes trying to find a hard drive, I wandered for another five trying to find a sales assistant. No luck. I even tried standing near some expensive stuff in the hope that someone would appear to try to sell me something but that didn't work either. Eventually I stumbled across the hard drives by accident but they were (in my opinion) overpriced. It all felt like a bit of a waste of time. If you want an iPad or a TV you won't struggle to find it, although I'd shop online first to make sure you don't pay over the odds, but if you want a smaller item or accessory you could be wandering around for a while.

That's not really PC World's fault though, and after the anger subsides this really is an excellent store for pretty much anything to do with computers. They also do games consoles and other techy treats such as digital photo frames and Blu-Ray players, so a trip in here for a memory stick can easily turn into an hour long trawl through an orgy of consumer electronics. I was pleasantly surprised by the staff as well. I came in to buy a router and expected the salesman to insist I need the most expensive one whilst demanding I take out a ten year warranty on it, but he actually recommended the cheapest option. I hope he gets employee of the month.

I downloaded windows 10 and as a result lost my microsoft office programmes and found that my…read morecomputer would no longer recognise my printer or camera. I re-installed windows 8.1 and after resetting all my original settings, still my computer would not recognise my printer or camera. This was the problem I took to speedy pcs. They charged me £80 telling me that they would need to install 8.1 again and give me copies of microsoft office. In the process, they reset the standard settings again and wiped my files - things that I was able to recover from myself. They told me that I would need to buy a new printer, which I did at a further cost of £60. My computer still does not recognise my camera. They also stopped my computer from being able to read PDF files, videos and pictures. The speed of processes is about 1/10 of what is was previously. I took it back to complain and he told me that I'd need a new camera as well. He also denied having charged me as much as he did. Although I have the receipt, I realise that I should not have paid him in cash - something that he insisted upon. I'll phone the tax office tomorrow because I hate those people who take our money, laugh at us, create problems and don't pay their due taxes. This is what speedy pcs did to me.

To be honest, I only went in here because it's a few doors up from my house, but I'm very glad I…read moredid. They sell laptops but they also do laptop repairs at what I think are pretty reasonable prices (I've not got much to compare them to but I never feel I'm getting ripped off). I first went in when my laptop keyboard started losing keys at an alarming rate and they replaced the whole keyboard for £20. Then, more recently, my laptop was overheating quite badly (probably because it was full of sawdust after I got a new kitchen put in this summer) and they sorted that for £30. I also bought my other half a lovely little notebook computer which came installed with WIndows XP, some open source Office software and Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus software. It was £150 but they gave me £20 off in exchange for an old Advent laptop I'd been meaning to get rid of for ages. The notebook also came with a six month guarantee so I know we can just go back in if anything goes wrong. I've never had any issues with stuff we've bought here or repairs they've carried out. The guys running the shop are really friendly, really helpful, especially the Irish guy who I think must be the owner. I know there are laptop repair shops all over the place nowadays but if you're in Shawlands then I'd definitely recommend this place.

Outstanding customer service, zero bulls**t, and a very low price for my repair. Why isn't this…read moreplace better known?? Had assumed that any place so close to the town centre would rip me off, and tried a few before this one that were almost certainly 'upselling' the amount of repair work I needed to get done. For context - my phone screen had become slightly dislodged (not broken in any way). Apple would only offer £90 for a screen replacement. Other shops would only offer £40-70 for replacement too. Cables and chips told me that this was a possibility, but they would look at the level of internal damage and see if this was necessary, talking me through the whole thing. So I let them take a look. They concluded (as I had suspected myself) that nothing was broken and the screen just needed to be glued back into place - it seems that when the gadget was refurbished it got too little glue. They did this very quickly, and charged me £5 for it!! Not only this, they also carefully packed my phone, looked after it for me, and put it on charge while the new glued dried. I left with a robust, fully charged phone, and my wallet not much lighter. It's a few weeks later now and my phone is still working like new, so I'm certain I made the right choice - the other shops really were just scaremongering to get more money out of me. That, or they didn't have the confidence or expertise to do anything other than a standard screen replacement, never mind what was best for the customer. I've been recommending this place to people all over and frankly wouldn't take my phone anywhere else now. I also bought a screen protector there as a bit of a thank you, and the lady behind the counter cleaned my phone and applied it for me there and then, all the while giving me tips about how to do it myself in case I needed to apply one in future. All in all a really excellent experience, especially compared to the rest of the pack. Feels like getting the mates' rates even if you've never met them before. Absolutely recommend.

When I arrived they were very helpful in telling me how to go about it. When I returned, with the items, the company whom I ordered from gave me the wrong information about how to return my item. They sent one label when I needed two. So I didn't have to call Apple again, would've been the third time, they helped me find a new box. This box fit all the items and they packaged it up for me and got it shipped so I didn't have to make another visit to the store, in the rain. All three times I've been in, everyone was friendly, happy to help, and very efficient and timely. Highly recommend this place, they care about their customers which isn't always the case other places!

I really need to stop dropping my phone. Luckily this place is just along the road…read more On the Finnieston strip, there are at least 4 places where you could get your phone fixed. I normally go into a couple and see what prices they're charging me and what the chat is like. These guys have been good for me so far. Last time I dropped my iphone, the screen smashed into at least twelvity billion pieces. They replaced it and put a proper glass screen protector on. This time when I dropped it, the glass screen protector worked - the screen didn't smash, but the whole screen detached at one corner, meaning that the slidey slidey didn't work, so I needed a new screen anyway. Took it in, job done. They're quick - they had that done in an hour. Plus they're helpful. I mentioned that it was super annoying that I dropped it as I'm due an upgrade next week, and they gave me a bit of chat about which iPhone to upgrade to, or shock horror, even to consider a Samsung! So I now feel armed with information for making a choice about upgrades. One thing I would say is watch out for the prices. I honestly think they just make them up. They will come and go with you though so it's worth asking, and also worth comparing with other shops in the strip too if you want to be thorough about it. When I have my new shiny phone soon, I'll be back to this place to get a glass screen protector put on, and also to GET A PROPER CASE THIS TIME! Apparently rubber is the way to go.
