It ended up being one of the most relaxing experiences. I had a bad headache that day, and Sasa focused on my head massage, which helped a lot. I felt so much better afterward. I will definitely come back and recommend this place. They don't speak much English, but they are very open and accommodating to your needs. Their prices are on the more affordable side, so I highly recommend tipping generously if you're happy with the service. They do ask you to pay first, but I let them know I would add the tip after the service, and they were completely okay with that. I didn't feel pressured to tip in advance at all. The place is clean and neat. see the pictures for reference.

When I looked up, I saw she was on her phone, texting, and only using one hand to absentmindedly rub my head without paying attention to what she was doing. I immediately called her out, and she didn't deny it--she just told me to wait for another massage therapist. This experience made it clear that this business does not prioritize or respect its customers.

Jennifer was my masseuse and she was super strong, maybe even too strong for me and I'm a thick gym goer who has a decent pain threshold. I thought I needed work on my back, but Jennifer found that the true cuplrit of my pain was my neck and shoulders. She tried to knead her way to get the knots out of my neck and shoulders, but I will definitely need a few more visits for a real resolution. Its been two days since that massage and I am feeling so much better! I definitely need to make a bi weekly massage part of my self care routine. I'm appalled looked at these 1 stars.... and there are plenty..... Anyways, I will speak to my experience: I went here because I heard about it here and there. Will never return. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude and gruff, the place felt dirty, and massage itself sucked, didn't seem like she knew what she was doing, there was no presence, or attention. So, I did NOT tip (and I usually always tip because its a nice thing to do, especially if you really appreicate the services etc but I was upset by my experience and a massage is supposed to relax you).. when she was done, I got dressed, and start walking towards to the exit door and the message therapist accosts me "Why didn't you tip me?! Ok, here's a raw review for a DEEP TISSUE massage by a MALE massage therapist…read more I just left the this place. It's right on the outskirts of Oakland's Chinatown on a little gritty little street, but I didn't feel unsafe. The place its self is also gritty and not pretty. You need to pay up front and the rooms are bare boned with a curtain over each door for privacy. If you need spa music and mood lighting, you won't find it here, but if you're looking for a deep tissue massage that will leave you limp like a rag doll, this is the place! I specifically asked for a male massage therapist (masseur) and Ken was my massage therapist. I have extremely tight QL muscles that most massage therapists cannot or will not dig deep enough to find. It takes work digging into it. I showed Ken the sore spots and he IMMEDIATELY found it and worked on it for a good 30 minutes. It hurt, I'm not kidding, but it's the GOOD HURT you need to break up deep muscle adhesions. He used deep pressure throughout my body and found virtually every knot and adhesion. He did ask several times if the pressure was OK. He even found some on my scalp that I didn't know I had! The massage was incredible all around and I will absolutely be back for more massages!

I guess I kind of assumed his love language was…read morephysical touch (just like my cat's) but after a few months I realized that our "dates" weren't really dates at all. Mostly me or him showing up, watching tv, I buy or make food for him, give him a massage, then he falls asleep and I go into a different room to do work on my computer. So, turns out... I wasn't really dating this guy at all, I guess. I think I was just giving him a place to stay, making him food, sewing his ripped pants, rubbing his back, and really not getting a ton of my love language (quality time) in return. I guess I was kind of his mom but, ya know... with a sexual twist. woof. That was hard to type and my therapist is clearly going to get an earful next session but oh well here we are two days before valentine's day and I'm paying a strange man to touch me. You live, you learn, you go back to being a barren spinster. That's life. Anyway, I was next door getting a pedicure and the woman touching my leg was like... this incredible experience. And it was then that I realized I had not left my apartment in a week and a half and had not been touched by a human in... let's just say longer. I thought about how the night before I tried to trick myself into turning my cat's love and affection into the feeling of a human's affection. Like, we're just in a really comfortable longterm relationship. We don't do "it" but like, we make out I guess... which is maybe just me blowing kisses towards him and him smelling my breath but potayto, potahto. He let's me touch his face so if I had to 'define the relationship', I'd say we're very serious. So I decided that even though I'm adhering to a very strict budget, that it was necessary to both my physical and mental health to have some sort of human contact. I looked up massages and saw there was a place right next door to my nail place. It looked... basic. And the prices seemed cheap... which was exactly what I knew my top of the line would be so it was a perfect fit. Low budget body work? I'm in. I walked over, walked in, there was no one there customer-wise but me. I didn't have an appointment but Tuesdays at 4:45 must be their slow time. I looked at the menu and the prices seemed too good to be true and if you pay cash you can get an even better discount. The guy pointed to the menu and said that the 90 minute foot and body massage was less than the menu stated. That took me a few tries to understand and I'm not sure why and I probably should have asked more questions but I did not and just went with it. Like everyone says, it's no frills. If I had to give the ambiance a description, I'd say 'hospice-y'. The seats are comfortable and my guy did a great job although I cannot relax and cannot shut my brain off from being like, 'a stranger man is touching me. a stranger man is touching me', but I tried as hard as I could to close my eyes and pretend it was the guy I was seeing finally giving me a massage back. I think because he'd never actually "scratched my back" that I just couldn't get there so I spent the entire hour and a half with my eyes partially open either under the eye towel peeking out the bottom to see what was happening with my legs, or peeking through the massage table head hole at the ikea stool or the guys socks and sandals below. I like a real hard, deep massage and the guy did a nice job with that, but my favorite part, hands down, was when he came in and cracked my back a bunch of times and when he turned my head like the girl from the exorcist and cracked it some more. THAT was what I needed. That and pretty much anytime he touched my head or face because mannnn it's been too long and that was like, so so nice. Anyway, I don't know if it was a happy hour special or something but it was only $58 for an hour and half. I ended up tipping $20 because that price seemed so low but I'd totally come back and use this place as my low budget chiropractor.

I considered leaving because the price didn't match what was advertised online, but I decided to treat myself and went through with the appointment anyway. Unfortunately, the massage itself was just average and didn't stand out. What really left a bad impression was what happened afterward. As I was checking out, the employee stood at the front asking about a tip. I was honestly surprised. I had already paid significantly more than the advertised online price, and now I was being asked to tip on top of that. Businesses need to honor the prices they advertise or clearly update them online before customers book. Charging one price online and another price when the customer arrives is frustrating and misleading. The experience wasn't worth what I ended up paying.
