I went in not expecting much given the government lockdown and general shortage of firearms and ammo I've seen at other stores. Appalachian has tons of handguns, ammo, etc. at fair prices. They even had 3 Sig P365 SAS...now they only have 2 (I bought one and a custom IWB holster). I talked to the Range Master for a few minutes - they have great rates and are looking for reasons to give you a discount. Oh, they also have pecans and a chess table.

Receipts showing he charged incorrect amount and had to fix it.

First employee instead of helping me find the item he acted as if I was bothering him and sent me to a room that did not even have what I had asked him for. Luckily a nice young lady was in there stocking and took me to the right counter to get what I needed. I waited for 20 minutes watching the guy that was supposed to come make my holster help 2 different people(sane guy as before). A different guy finally made the holster for me, young guy ver polite. While checking out another guy charged me $59 for a $49 holster. When I told him he had charged me too much he acted as if I was the problem. Very bad experience, I can only hope that my negative yet truthful review will steer atleast one person in a different direction.

My review is limited to the range, not the shop. Poorly run, felt unsafe. There are better, more safe gun ranges in the mountains.

Over the last year I've been to at least half a dozen shooting ranges and Appalachian Gun and Pawn range is by far the best.

(What many folks don't know is that not everyone is on anti-depressant's or Nerve Medicine, and not everyone who buys a firearm is mental.) The store is very clean and well kept, floors are swept and tables shine. There is a good selection of pharmaceuticals, firearms, and merchandise. The ladies who work the Pharmacy are very friendly and helpful, but my favorite worker there- wears a bandana and has a beard. The young guy who works the firearms display looks like a double from the show "Duck Dynasty" and is the most helpful and friendly of the bunch, and his knowledge of firearms is outstanding (The kind of guy you WANT working that particular counter.) Prices for items vary; Merchandise takes advantage of tourism, and is priced absurdly. The firearms are decently priced, and so is the accessory's. The store is small, so don't expect to have breathing room. There is one issue with the store: The owner- he is rude and not so friendly, but when he's not there, expect to have a good time!

It doesn't appear the owners ever respond to reviews so I doubt they'll ever acknowledge this, but…read moreanyways. This store had a used Desert Eagle chambered in .44 magnum for sale for $1,399. I asked to look at the gun and noticed that it was written on the tags "comes w/ 2 extra mags". A brand new desert eagle of the same finish and caliber is only $200 more expensive so $1,399 isn't a spectacular deal or anything but given the magazines aren't carried in many local stores and are $50 a pop I figured $1,399 for 3 magazines (the gun comes factory with one magazine and the tag said 2 extra) was pretty good so I went ahead and put it on layaway. (Their layaway policy is great here btw) I came back a little over a week later to pay off the gun and pick it up and once I've paid and gotten my paperwork done I see the guy that pulled it from the back is scrambling and looking around. He finally walks up, pulls the tag off the gun and just says "there you go". I say "hey, I know that tag mentions two extra magazines. If it doesn't have them can you take $20 per magazine off so I can go buy a couple of new ones". To which he responded "nope, I thought it had another magazine but it looks like someone snatched it and the gun is still priced accordingly". Ok? To buy two of those magazines I'm going to spend another $80-$100 that I previously wasn't planning on spending. I feel pretty displeased especially since this place offers less than 50% of what your gun is going to sell for when they buy it from you. So they definitely had the margins to cut $40 off the price for their mistake instead of trying to hide it then telling me it was still properly priced. I will likely still shop here but not with the sale level of trust I had before, and will likely check out other stores before coming here
