I made an appointment for my bearded dragon because he has been dealing with parasites. We had already seen another veterinarian twice and tried treatment, but the parasites were still present. I went to this office because I genuinely just wanted to get my dragon the help he needed. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The veterinarian asked me numerous questions and spoke to me in a way that made me feel as though he assumed I didn't know what I was doing. Ultimately, I was told that without a DNA sample from my dragon's stool, they could not help him. The veterinarian also mentioned that my dragon was slightly dehydrated and wanted to start IV fluids. I declined because, aside from the ongoing parasite issue, my dragon was eating, active, and otherwise doing well. What was especially frustrating was the billing. I was charged $150 because the appointment went over the allotted exam time. However, I did not choose to extend the appointment. I waited approximately 20 minutes before the veterinarian came into the room, and once he arrived, much of the additional time was spent with him talking and asking questions. I also asked to speak with the manager because I felt the additional charge was unfair. I was told they would not reduce the bill, even though the extra time was not something I requested or caused. I am a mother of two children, one of whom has an autoimmune condition, so I am very familiar with advocating for someone who needs medical care. I found it incredibly frustrating to be treated as though I was incapable of caring for my own pet when I was simply trying to get him appropriate treatment. The office also requested my previous veterinarian's records, including the results from his last fecal examination. I was told that fecal samples are not reliable, which was confusing because the sample in question had been collected directly at the veterinary office. I left this appointment having spent $150 and without a treatment plan or any real solution for my dragon's ongoing parasite problem. I went there looking for help, and instead I left feeling dismissed, talked down to, and frustrated with both the care and the billing. Based on my experience, I would encourage anyone considering this office for an exotic pet to ask questions about the diagnostic process, treatment options, and potential additional fees before proceeding. He is wise, gifted, deeply compassionate, and almost magical in the way he can place his hands on a dog and understand what is wrong. My current dog is ten years old, and after we moved to Austin, we sadly had to say goodbye to Cypress Creek Animal Hospital and Dr. Henry. Not long after, my dog began yelping whenever anyone came near him, which was very unusual. I took him to our new vet, who sent us to a pet ER in Austin. The ER determined he was not in critical condition and recommended that our Austin vet pursue X-rays and an ultrasound through a mobile group. After all of that expense and worry, he came home with pain medication--but two weeks later, he was no better. Then we were sent to a different pet ER, with the same result. At one point, it was even suggested that we possibly remove part of his jawbone--which was terrifying to hear. That was when I knew - we needed Dr. Henry. I drove three hours roundtrip to Wimberley so Dr. Henry could clean his teeth and give me his opinion about what was causing my dog so much misery. While my dog was under very light anesthesia, Dr. Henry carefully examined his neck and spine with his hands and found two places that were out of alignment. Using his chiropractic skills, he gently realigned my elderly dog's neck vertebrae. No teeth were removed--let alone any jawbone. After three weeks of rest, my dog is eating, drinking, and playing like a puppy again. I am overflowing with gratitude. Thank you, Dr. Henry, for being exactly who you are: kind, concerned, thoughtful, intuitive, and extraordinarily skilled. You gave my sweet old dog comfort, healing, and quality of life again--and that means everything. My dog is wagging his thanks, too! We were under the impression we were going to have to put Jasper down yesterday afternoon. Instead, Dr Medina explained a few other options. Jasper received meds and fluids, and we took him home with us last night. Dr Medina and Kyle with both wonderful to us, compassionate and understanding to our situation. Maybe they were bought out and "Dr Brown" (office manager) runs the show. I suspect she has a PhD in finance on how to nickel and dime customers. The final straw was I was not able to have a discussion with Dr Kaufman. I feel I was blocked from talking to him. I'm done with being "managed" when my pup is sick and at risk.
