Ran into apollo coney while i'm the east side of the state wish I could just package the whole place and bring them off to the west side. Connefar , beyond what I could imagine delicious and the chili was most excellent. Also, had the Lemon Rice Chicken Soup. Another must have when you're there. I got the bowl. Could be 2 bowls, delicious, nice and lemony the Greek salad was a small but it looked like you could share it between 2 people, plenty of fetal and the dressing was homemade. Total classic. I ordered a grilled chicken pita and found a plastic bread clip in the pita. I was so upset that I couldn't eat it and threw it out. When I called to let them know what happened I was told bring it back and let them see and they would make a new pita. They really thought I would want them to make me another pita. It has been a while since last time here (5-6years). So this time took my wife and daughter(23) and everybody loved it. While it was very slow, not many patrons, the service was darn good and attentive and the food wAs very good. I had the shish kabob sandwich and a coney. My wife a coney and my daughter had their version of National's Hanni sandwich and some chilli cheese fries. The girls loved the fries and I loved my chicken s/which the best. The local Coney is a wonderful location for light family fare. Everything is homemade and delicious cooked to your needs. The family restaurant has been a local treasure on Van Dyke and Riverland center. Their chili is delicious on almost anything they make. It's an old school no-frills Coney place. The menu is not as long as other places, and the food is solid. You walk in and it could be 1960 or it could be 2016. It's a little dive with nothing fancy. No neon, no TVs, not super bright inside (kind of dim). The service was fine. I almost expected to hear someone say "cheezburger, cheezburger." The chili was good, I'm not sure about paying $.40 more for a lonely Kraft single folded up on top. The hot dogs had a nice snap, it was a little burnt on one side. Everything was good, but I was expecting a little more from the reviews. Next time, I'd probably drive down the road to Phoenix for a little less scratch. read more

Love it! Truly a mom & pop operation, the restaurant has been in Riverland for decades. Hubby used to eat here when he was in high school. The decor is old school - graduation pictures, checkered tile floor, vinyl booths, one-person-at-a-time bathrooms. . it's awesome! Hubby swears by the coney dogs - I love the veggie pita. Another in my group ordered just cheese fries, when she "dug in" the entire container of fries came up in one fork full. It appeared as though they put a kraft single on top of the fries and then fired it into the microwave. Hashbrowns were dry and Gyro was not much. Get the shish kabob sandwich. Best in the umm, world? I used to live in the area. Now if I am driving by I always stop there. Whatever sauce they invented is delicious. One of my favorite Coney Islands in Michigan. Believe me when I say I have been to many. I enjoy an omelette, hash browns, toast and my bill is under $4! They also have the best mozzarella sticks and ranch. Always crispy and hot. The setting is quiet and relaxed. No rush and usually just a few people in there. Only cons to the place is that they are cash only and not open on sundays. Even if you have to stop at the atm and pull out some cash it will be worth it. All in all I highly recommend the place. I have never left this place hungry or unhappy. Important note: Cash Only! Believe me it's worth hitting the atm. This place is the cheapest coney anywhere. read more

They never made any pretensions about the decor, but the food always ROCKS! from the Greek Salads (with the homemade dressing), the rice pudding (also made daily) to the uncomparable Coneys. they are packed every day at lunch and rightly so! One of the owners son, nick, is now overseeing a new "Detroit-style" place here in LA, complete with importing Faygo! How's that for a family business? do yourself a favor and stop in to Apollo.
