I've been here a handful of times with my family and also with my coworkers. Overall, it's a quick and easy meal. I've had the Works Pita several times. Recently, I wasn't very satisfied with my beef and lamb pita as it was a little dry. We came after the lunch rush, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it since it was later in the afternoon when we stopped by and dined in. I wish I asked for more tzatziki sauce. My coworker ordered a plate which looked pretty good with the hummus, pita and salad and rice and chicken. The employees were pretty helpful and friendly. I think I found my new addiction!!! Apola is in the WalMart plaza with plenty of parking. This is a counter service restaurant. The gyro comes with beef/lamb, tzatziki, tomatoes, onion and fries. The combination is amazing! It has so much flavor and I love there's a combination of soft and crunch. We had a pleasant lunch outing at Apola Greek Grill last week. From the moment we walked in, the staff was kind and attentive even before we ordered. We ordered a breakfast burrito & the lunch special wraps x2. I love that you're able to substitute the side of fries for something healthier. We got rice for our little & a green salad for us. The only thing that wasn't impressive was the side green salad (small portion of it shrank lol) I appreciated that the staff still came to check on us throughout the meal and as we were leaving. They were definitely doing something right! Not a huge dealbreaker, but the day we went their Coca Cola supplier didn't have the delivery for their beverage machine, so it made selections really limited. While we are not local to Irvine, we hope to visit again in the near future! read more

Greek Style Chipotle! This place caught me by surprise, and we really did not have the intention of going here but came as a "last minute" plan type meal. Thankfully, I did stumble upon this place, and the food is great. You get quite a lot of food for the price you pay and also some good quality food! You can see the meat being cooked daily! Highly recommend the beef and lamb or the chicken! They also have some other options, like the Fire Fries, and I would highly recommend those or the Feta Fries because they have some good flavors and sauces that compliment their Greek seasonings and sauces! The garlic sauce and tzatziki sauce are phenomenal with their Greek salad and Lamb! Service is also so quick and the workers all seem to be having a great time and fun working there! Very friendly and helpful with answering questions! I ended up having the works wrap too, and added some spicy hummus and jalapenos! Added some great heat and solid spice flavor to the chicken! The meat was tender and flavorful, and I loved the eggplant mash- a weird seedy texture but it was smoky and paired great w the pita. The Greek salad had huge chunks of feta which was delightful, but the salad was SUPER oily and ended up making my whole bowl very wet. If you manage to save any room after your meal, I recommend any of the after dinner Greek sweets such as their baklava or lukomades which are like small freshly made batch donuts covered in honey and powdered sugar. It's a chain and it has that Panda Express/Chiptole set up, BUT the food is good and a great deal in this economy. It's also a healthy alternative to getting junkier foods. It's in the same plaza as Walmart, but still plenty of parking. When you get inside, you get in line, and when you get to the counter you let the employee know what you'd like to order. I usually get the plate and I've attempted to order fries as a side, but every time I do they either don't have any or they have a dinky amount left :( All in all though, it's pretty tasty and a quick meal when I don't feel like cooking. read more

The customer service here isn't great. Even though it's usually empty when I come, the bathrooms are always closed. My husband couldn't even wash his hands and had to use water from our car outside. The restaurant wasn't closing for another three hours, so I don't understand why certain areas, including the restrooms, aren't open. This is the second time in a row that this has happened. I love the seasoning they have on their fries. For a fast food gyro I think that their ingredients were well seasoned and had good flavor. I also decided to try their lemon loux which was very refreshing and went well with my pita. The serving size was very large and I enjoyed the meal. Service: It took about 5 minutes for them to prepare my shrimp which didn't bother me because I was able to have hot, fresh seafood. The employees were wonderful and so nice. But I never saw this beef-lamb mix anywhere in Greece. $12 pita gyro sandwich....Apola's pork gyros are tender, succulent, juicy, and so delicious! Less salty than the beef-lamb. The accompanying onions, tomatoes, taziki sauce, and pita bread are perfectly matched...and of course the course the fries inside! The Greeks in Greece almost always put fries in their pita sandwiches, and they do that Apola, so good! I made it a combo adding a soda and soup for $4...the chicken lemon soup was tasty too. Food - Greek fare obviously. I wanted to get that authentic Greek experience of the pork Gyro instead of the US version with the Lamb and beef variant so I ordered exactly that. Was it the same deliciousness as in Greece? Not really. Close but no cigar as they say. And at $12+ per, it was ok. But i wouldn't go here a whole lot because of the cost and authenticity. Granted, it was still pretty good. It's just that I am in the hunt for authentic Greek pork Gyro. Service - it was good service with order at the counter and they make the food right then and there. The pork was already pre cut so not fresh shaven although they do have those spits behind the counter rotating but I guess if not so busy, it sits there and once in a while they shave it. Ambiance - most definitely fast food vibe with plenty of seating Verdict - good and a must try at least once. I feel tho not to their fault but if the food sits there, then it doesn't taste as fresh sometimes. But stil recommend to try at least once. read more

Always pleasantly surprised with how yummy Apola is! Typically at Greek places, I always opt for the Beef/Lamb protein because I find it to be the tastiest. Which is why I was SO surprised when the chicken from here ended up tasting so delicious! Flavorful and not dry! If I had to choose between the beef/lamb and chicken, I honestly couldn't! Both are delicious! I typically love to get a plate or a gyro here. Everything tastes delicious and some of the sauces (feisty feta and the garlic sauce) are incredible! I also ordered the Fire Fries and really enjoyed that as well. Apolas food is best enjoyed fresh and hot. As it sits out, I feel like both the sauces and meats dry up a bit and it's just not as good as if it is eaten fresh. I'm a fan! read more

This place was my favorite go to place for a few years. I was away and today after couple of years I visited it again. What a MISTAKE and DISAPPOINTMENT. I got to explain that I use to manage a Kebab Shop for many years and am experienced in catering so I am not asking for what that I would not do for a customer. Now, lets start: Date and time of visit: Saturday 08/31/2024 around 5:30 PM There were only 2 customer, myself and young lady before me. There was 3 staff members hanging around. All men. 2 younger and one a bit older. Young guys were at front and older one kept walking to the back of the shop. My first reaction was "why the food service counter top looks so messy ?There are 3 staff and no customers so why they don't wipe it down? I waited because 2 young guys were talking to each other while one of them made a nice bowl of food for himself (all ignoring me). Meat on one side, fries in the middle and some salad by the side of fries. When it came to my service I pointed to his bowl and asked the young guy who was serving me for 3 similar bowls. 1 chicken , 2 pork. He picked up the bowl, threw some fries in it, then threw a small amount of meat on top and went to add the salad. I stopped him and asked what are you doing? I said, I want the food arranged like your friend. He replied with an attitude: "That is his food" I responded, if you put chopped juicy tomatoes on top of meat and fries the food will get cold and soggy before I get home. He shrugged his shoulders and said it is how we do it. They get soggy anyway. I said I change my mind and just want 3 wraps with meats only. NOTHING in it. That should have been easy for him, right? He picked the chicken up from top of the fries with his gloved hands and put them on the wrap. When he took the lid off the pork it was the most horrible meat I have seen, pork was sitting in the heated container so long that it had turned dark brown and all the fat drained out of it. He the scooped it up and it was just a spoonful. I said that is not even enough for one wrap. Again with attitude he said no it is ok. Then with a look on his face turned and said "but if you want you can wait for 10 to 15 minutes till we fire it up and cook some". I said forget it and paid for the chicken wrap so I can put the photo of dry cold and old chicken on this review. So, to summarize it. This place has: - LAZY Staff with bad attitude, zero service, not even using their single digit brain cells for a simple thing like "don't dump wet salad onto hot fries, it gets soggy". - Bad food that was sitting there maybe from the night before (pork belly does not looks like bits of dark brown color dry leather unless been heated for many hours. Conclusion: This was the last time I visit this place. I will not go there if they offer me this rubbish food and service for free. It bothers me because it says it is a family owned business. So, what is happening to this place? Are the owners deliberately trying to run this place to the ground and bankrupt it? I've always driven by this place & been curious about it - greek food is very similar to middle eastern arab cuisine which is one of my favorites. To be honest, I haven't ate very much Greek food at all, so I had to give it a try. I I wasn't starving so I wanted something small - I went inside & ordered the works pita sandwhich - comes with your choice of protein, tzatiki sauce, red onions, tomato & french fries which sounds just delightful. What a pleasant surprise to find out the beef, lamb & chicken are halal - don't be scared they are grilled separately from the pork. I had no idea the set up is basically chipotle style. I love that but I quickly found out that the meat that has been shaved off has been sitting in the warmers for who knows how long without being covered. I was very surprised to see how generous they are with the portions ! I am always prepared to always ask for extra protein... you won't need to here ! The taste is more mellow than arab food & also different. I can't figure out which spice is on the fries but I am digging it. I won't lie, the chicken was just a little dry for me ! I ordered the pork belly gyro and I requested "no tzatziki sauce on the pita, just mustard and ketchup" as that's whah my preference is and that's how they really do it in Greece. The employee squirts ketchup on the meat and tells me that I will have to add mustard on my own, after she wrapped the whole thing up with the packets they have next to the soda machine...are you kidding me? Add mustard after the entire sandwich had been wrapped up? See the mess it makes (pic attached). What kind of service is this plus what sort of restaurant has mustard only in packets?? Then, I purchased the combo which allows a regular cup of drink; the machine had all diet drinks disabled. I ask and they tell me "we are out". Out, at 12:15pm during the busiest time of the day; they couldn't care less like "I am sorry, or here is a refund or whatever"... entire restaurant out of ANY diet drink (coke, lemonade etc).... Not only they weee out but the indifference in the attitude was very disappointing. I was a regular here and no more for me.
