District Athletic Club Personal Training - Lyle & his client

District Athletic Club Personal Training

District Athletic Club Personal Training (DACPT) has been one of the most positive fitness…read moreexperiences of my life. Derek and the team of trainers are professional, knowledgeable, experienced, and engaging. When I first started working with Derek in the summer of 2017, he sat down with me for an initial session and evaluated my kinesthetic skills. He took the time to ask me questions about lifestyle, nutrition, and workout experience. DACPT offers 50 minute and 30 minute sessions to clients, which are 1-1 in a state of the art facility with all the fitness goodies you could ever want to work with. Derek and the DACPT team have always been professional and have pushed me to be my strongest self! I mean seriously strong! My sessions often consist of multiple types of dynamic movements, so instead of 3 sets of 12 reps, we're moving and grooving (to my favorite songs) from exercise to exercise after a consistent set of 15 reps. I always look forward to my sessions and asking Derek questions during them. He consistently gives me detailed responses based on his extensive background and knowledge in the sciences. DACPT offers much more than a "workout session." As a client, you learn about how the body works, what your body can do and needs, and ways in which you'll be able to meet your goals through fitness and nutrition. I cannot stress how much I recommend Derek and the DACPT Personal Training team!

I've been working out with Elm City Coach for almost 6 months, and have had a great experience. I…read morecame from working with another trainer in New Haven who I didn't feel like I had a great connection - and I've found just the opposite here at Elm City Coach. I was coming off a knee injury from running and looking to both push myself without risk of re-injury on my road back to running. Marannie has been a great partner to help in achieving my goals. I completed my first 5K (post injury) with her and Lauren's help! I love the combination of individualized programming and the small group camaraderie here. I also have really appreciated Marannie's flexibility with working within my budget. Personal training can be very expensive, and she's helped me come up with an arrangement that works for me.

I've been training with Marannie at Elm City Coach for 8 months now. Marannie's approach to…read moretraining through natural movement is unlike any other approach I've come across. Big movements like hanging, climbing, crawling, jumping, balancing, squatting, and running are broken down into parts that we master, focusing on form at every stage. I'm seeing how all these movements can (and should) be used every day in our daily lives, and because of this, I find myself practicing at home all the time in ways I never would have considered before. I am stronger and healthier every week, and I am discovering that I can move in ways I never was able to before. I can do monkey bars and climb trees now with my kids, do pull ups, sit on the floor for extended periods of time, lift large objects correctly, and go for runs- all things that were unthinkable last year. I also really love the small group setting of the classes and the individual attention you receive. Each participant works with a program that is tailored to their specific needs. It is very noncompetitive and supportive- kind of the antidote to CrossFit! So, if you are looking for just a plain old gym to crank out a workout and then go home and sit around all day, this isn't your place. But if you are looking to make real authentic change in your daily life, and if you want to see how you can bust out of the sedentary American life most of us live and see how you can move better, not just in classes but in everything you do, THIS is the place to be!

Working with Active Wellness has completely changed how I view fitness. They introduced me to…read morePilates and helped me prioritize my physical health in a way that actually feels sustainable. I've learned that I enjoy working out so much more when I have a clear routine and structured workouts--and they're always thoughtful about making adjustments so each session fits my body and needs. I feel stronger, more confident, and genuinely excited to move.

About 15 months ago, I visited the Active Fitness studio to talk to Christina & Drew and share my…read morehopes for our time training together. At the time, I had goal tunnel vision. The sole thing I cared about was rebuilding my atrophied leg, a symptom of extensive knee construction that had turned my quad, hamstring and calve into shadows of their original selves. I couldn't kneel, squat, lunge or even sit for prolonged periods of time without pain. Christina and Drew were thoughtful in their approach (which I now know is just how they operate). I think that they knew my goals would blossom as I felt more control over my knee recovery, and that's exactly what happened. Every week, we saw little gains and I found myself asking bigger questions, not just about my knee but about diet, mental health, routine, self-image, and mindfulness. Now, 15 months later, I feel physically strong. I feel disciplined and capable. I feel like I can trust myself to take good care of my body and brain. And most of all, I feel healthy even though 2020 has been an objectively difficult year for our world. In March, we shifted to Zoom because of coronavirus - I'm so grateful that I had their support during a time when mental and physical health was so important. They helped me transition to quarantine, work from home, home workouts, and a lot more cooking than I've ever done. If you need a team behind you, I highly recommend that you invest in yourself by working with Christina and Drew. Their training quality via Zoom is excellent and leaves me feeling strong, valued and connected!
