    Butter chicken Goat biryani
    Jade G.

The place was small and colourful. The food was good. I've never tried goat before and it wasn't bad. Some pieces were a bit fatty for me, but that's just a personal preference, and it might be a bit spicy for some. The server was nice and the food came out pretty fast. It was pretty good experience overall and I might even go back to try the buffet once I'm more familiar with the dishes.

I love Indian food! I still dream about the Indian food I had on a trip to Boston. We have tried Apna Kitchen on multiple occasions- all of which were delivery orders. We have tried the butter, garlic and Apna special naan all of which have been very good. The naan can be hit or miss though. We have had some naan that was burnt. I usually get the vegetable korma which is packed full of flavor. My only complaint is the vegetables are all large, chunky pieces which is not my style. I do understand that korma is typically made that way though. I usually mix rice in my korma! My husband always gets the vegetable biriyani with extra spice. He loves this dish and really enjoys the extra heat added spice will bring. If you don't enjoy extra spice, I would avoid asking for extra as they don't play around with additional spice! The vegetables samosas are always delicious! You can't go wrong ordering them! There is a dine-in option but we've never dined inside of the restaurant. All-in-all if you enjoy Indian food, you need to try Apna!

This was my first time at apnas kitchen and I'm also new to Tennessee. The area seemed a tad bit sketchy to me. But who am I to say. The food was 9/10 but the service is what lacked. I'm not sure if it was because they are all Indian and were nervous because I'm American? Or what? But forgot my tomato soup and never asked if the food was good or if I had any problems. As long as no stomach problems I would go back, I've come to learn living here you need to pick and choose your battles, good food first.

Saag Paneer - amazing dish!!! With bites of tofu cooked in it! Spooned over the Basmati, this dish couldn't have been better!

No Frills, Just Superb Indian Cuisine! Dining here for lunch was an unexpected delight! Having eaten at a few Indian restaurants, the quality of the ingredients and the commingling of distinct flavors really tantalized the senses and the palate. If we said "Wow" once, we said it a dozen times! I've lived in India and worked there and this place is as good as being there food-wise. We ate the following and EVERY SINGLE DISH was outstanding: Mixed Pakora appetizer (oh my!), Saag Paneer (who knew this vegetarian dish with tofu could be so amazing!) served with perfectly cooked Basmati Rice, Lamb Tikka Masala (with Basmati Rice) (lamb was melt-in-your-mouth good!), Garlic Naan was excellent and ended with light and refreshing rice pudding! We will most definitely return to this impressive Indian restaurant in Chattanooga! Now a top favorite! Hands down!!! Excellent and attentive service!

I went to this Indian place a couple of months ago on my way to visit my sister-in-law. Here is a summary of my experience of this place and its food. -- Ambiance 3.5/5: Nothing great. This looks like a hole-in-the-wall place that resembles a college cafeteria. From outside it looked like small local joint but I was craving for Indian food and wanted to try it. --- Service 4/5: The service was a little slow but the good thing was that they ensured we had things on our table and our table was never empty once it started coming. -- Food 3/5: This is where my major issue is and I did not like some of the taste of it. Here is the summary of what we had: First the good, this is the first Indian restaurant in the USA which serves you free papad. I have never seen this anywhere so this was a delight. Coming on to the food we ordered: 1. Aloo Chana Chaat: The chaat did not have enough yogurt and did not taste good. There was a lot of sour chutneys and not enough sweet chutney to balance it. 2. Gobhi Manchurian: The gobhi Manchurian tasted raw. Once the layer was out you could see raw cauliflower in it. The quantity was low and was pricey as well. 3. Garlic Naan: This was good but one of the costliest naan that we have ever had 4. Gajar Halwa: This is the most disappointing in my opinion. It didn't taste anything like gajar halwa and hat grated coconut pieces in it. I had never seen it before and the taste tasted like nothing. Very disappointing and not recommended at all. -- Value for Money 2/5: I felt that this place was costly for the food taste and ambiance that they had. Overall, not recommended from my end unless you are really craving Indian food and there is nothing nearby plus you have deep pockets. Also Gajar halwa is a big NO here.

    9. Malai Kabab - Excellent!

The Malai Kabab is THE BOMB! Best Indian dish I've eaten and they do it sooo well! Get this! Everything I've eaten at Apna Kitchen is wonderful, no complaints! All the curries, chicken tikka masala, the naan, the roti...it's all good.

Thankfully, the restaurant has been spruced up a bit with a new floor, ceiling, and some new tables. It's lighter and airier and certainly looks less dingy. The rolling cabinets housing the buffet chafing trays are fewer and smaller, so there are fewer items offered than what was customary for Dosa Hut's extensive buffet. I was a big fan of Dosa Hut and am happy to report that most, if not all, of the old menu items are still there, and a few new ones have been added. I see bhel puri, pani puri, samosa chaat, and several different biryani preparations among them, but I haven't sampled them yet. The emphasis is still on South Indian fare, so expect dosas, idli, and sambar. I don't know dosas from shinola and have hardly ever had them elsewhere, so I'm no expert, but I love the plain dosas I get there. They're huge, and paired with the accompanying coconut chutney and small bowl of sambar, it's a massive appetizer that often doesn't leave room for much else. My favorite dish is shrimp biryani. I tend to order it at every Indian restaurant I go to for comparison's sake. It's moist, spicy, delectable, and full of good-sized shrimp. I've never had better in the dozen or so Indian restaurants I've visited in the Southeast. Like its predecessor, I think Taj particularly excels in their vegetarian offerings, especially those with shredded paneer. So methi malai matar and paneer bhurji are our go-tos. We're also really fond of the kaju khoya. All three dishes are delightfully creamy, and we eat them over rice. I can't say I'm a fan of their saag dishes. They puree the spinach, and I'm not a fan of the texture, but from my reading, it's commonly prepared that way, so to each their own. I've been to their buffet once, but it was near the end of their lunch session, so I wasn't surprised that the offerings were getting a little old. Not going to hold that against them. Service is very attentive. For what it's worth, soft drinks are served in cans with a glass and ice, and there are at least a few bottled beers available. All in all, a great little place with a revamped menu and interior well worth checking out.
