The atmosphere was very relaxing with nice music playing in the background. We were seated quickly by a very friendly host. We had the Onion Bhaji appetizer. The fritters were cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. The Garlic Naan, rice, and Lamb Fraizee made a great main course for two. Our waiter, Sabino, took great care of us throughout our dinner. He was friendly and helpful in choosing menu items and made very good suggestions. This was a Door Dash Delivered order. I placed an order for Naan and Chicken Makhani. The chicken was a mixture of light and dark meat. I would have preferred all light meat in this particular dish. The serving size was enough for 2 people and was tasty, albeit a bit more pronounced with the tomato flavors than spice. The meal came accompanied with an aluminum tin filled with [Jasmine] 'Jeera Rice', made with ghee [butter], broken cumin seeds and spices. The rice by itself was very good and moist. You can also choose your level of spice if you call Sitar after placing your delivery order, which is what I did with no miscommunication. We actually got 2 dinner meals out of the dish, and 2 more for lunch the next day, so it was worth it in value. The dish was $15.00 so for 2 people that is actually very reasonable. After ordering through DD, I called and put in the requests I desired, which were done exactly as I asked. Relatively new to Chattanooga and tried this place in search of a new go to Indian restaurant. I ordered takeout and the online process was simple, food ready when expected. I had their chicken biryani and malai kofta. The biryani was pretty good, it could have been a little more flavorful. The chicken was excellent though. It's quite different than Hyderabadi style biryani which is what I'm used to, it's fairly mild as far as spicy level goes without asking for anything extra. The malai kofta was a little different than I'm used to as well, but still good. A good mild vegetarian dish if you're looking to try something a little different. There is ample seating room inside for dine in. Based on this one experience, I would recommend giving them a shot and plan to return myself. read more

Holy moly was this place's service amazing. We did takeout and the meal was done EXACTLY when the person on the phone said it would be. When we were standing outside as we'd arrived a bit early, he noticed the dogs my partner and I had with us and got them both a specific water cup as it was hot outside. Food was amazing, fresh, and perfect for the picnic we set up a block away. Garlic naan was a highlight, I had the tika and wanted it spicy, it satisfied on every level. Stopped in for lunch and was surprised the place was empty. Another couple did come right before we left. They have lunch specials and the full dinner menu available. My coworker and I ordered the tika masala lunch special. I did not realize it comes with a small bowl of soup and bowl of vegetable curry, garlic naan, plus rice and ice cream. (I skipped the ice cream). The portion sizes were plentiful and I could not finish it all. Everything was flavorful and delicious. I did notice that towards the end of my meal the food turned cold - it could be there was so much that I couldn't eat fast enough while it was warm. Of course, we had to get some regular and garlic naan as well! As for,those main dishes, both were quite good. The chicken biryani was tasteful and delicious. The vindaloo - ordered extra spicy - delivered. Not over the top hot but definitely delivered on spice! We loved them! However, to be honest, the naan was quite lackluster. Thin and the tasteless. Wife and I went here for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was clean, and the service was great. So no complaints there. As for the food, we got some pakora for an appetizer and it was good. I enjoy the pakora that has just the chickpea dumplings (I think that's what it is). I got the chef's special multi platter. Everything there was great. Expect the soup was not my favorite. Wasn't bad. Just borderline. My wife always gets chana masala and she said there was room for improvement. It wasn't terrible or anything, but not her favorite. All in all we enjoyed it. read more

The food was not very note worthy but it was good. It wasn't the best Indian food and the portions were a little small. I felt like the main problem was there wasn't a lot of depth to the flavor. I've had some butter chicken that is bursting with different curries and fresh spices and I unfortunately didn't get that feeling from this place. I did enjoy our lentil crackers and onion salsa and mint chutney and felt like it was just as good as any restaurant but other than that there is not much to say about the restaurant. The staff was incredibly sweet and wanting to please. They did give us more crackers after we finished the ones we were served and they were very fast to refill our waters. The restaurant is tucked away on the corner of Market and Aquarium. If lost follow your nose as I did, the scent of herbs and spices was itself delicious. The restaurant is a cosy size and the staff is very friendly. I almost felt I was dining at a friend's. The food was perfectly cooked and presented. I had shrimp masala- some jumbo shrimp in a delightfully spicy sauce with a large portion of flakey basmati rice. And a yummy mango lassi and naan which was warm, buttery and delicious. My son and I were visiting from Washington State. After going to the aquarium with our friends we went to Sitar. This was a new experience for some of the kids in our group. I was the only one in our group that didn't eat chicken. Though the food was good 5 of our group got sick that night and my son continues to be sick throwing up several times after several days. And sadly, they do not have a favorable view of women. The waiter only spoke to my husband and asked him (not me) if he needed anything else. I had to deliberately insert myself into the conversations. Perhaps this was a cultural thing? I've been to India and observed the cultural interaction between men and women there; With that said, I expect to be treated with the same courtesy of any paying customer.
