Love the huge variety of foods & non-food items, FRESH produce, herbs & even Veggies I've never heard of, but have no prob buying; the lady behind the counter is so sweet! She's given me suggestions for new gourmet meals for friends! The staff are REALLY NICE, much friendlier than most of the clerks at Safeway, 8 stores down. These peeps are helpful & will let you just come in & browse, when it's waaaay HOT or really brrrr chilly... or just to catch a bit of the Seahawks or Mariners games! This place is just fabulous ya. I walked past all the spices and chai mixes and it was such a heavenly experience ya. The employees were so helpful ya, always helping you. When I went to go check out my groceries, ya, they were so fast scanning everything ya. BOOM BOOM BOOM, and they were done ya. Price have gone up 20-50% If you want to experience extreme inflation price gouging, shop here. Granted with gas prices and labor costs going up, inflation is everywhere. Generally it's in the 10-15% range in the area but Apna Bazar has raised their prices on most packaged goods by 20-50%. The Parle G 800 gm box was $3.50 a few months ago. It's $5 now. (40% increase). Its for $3.99 at the Krishna Supermarket in Issaquah The box of paan was $2.99 and now its $3.99 Many cookie packs that were $0.99 are now $1.49 ( ~50% price increase). These prices are sticky and will likely not go down. In comparison the Mayuri in Redmond Town Center has more reasonable prices. If you are in Sammamish, the extra 10 minutes drive to Mayuri is worth the cost savings as the Apna Bazar in Sammamish has started charging ridiculously high prices for packages goods. Update: There is a new grocery store called Krishna Supermarker in Issaquah which has much better prices and selection. Many items are 20-30% cheaper there. I am not affiliated with them and am a customer of both Apna Bazar and Krishna Supermarket. read more

I'm starting of by giving this place 5 stars based on how they conducted their operations last year during covid. Cleanliness, creating lines outside to how clean they kept the facility deserves 5. The location is super convenient without having us Sammamish folks go to Bellevue to do our Indian grocery shopping. Some items are not consistently stocked but I won't count this against the store as I'd hate for this store to disappear completely. And now for some cons. I'm shocked as so many negative reviews esp from Desis (my very own compatriots straight from India), mostly complaining about prices and return policies. I don't know if it's just me who notices this but I have to say I'm deeply embarrassed by how desis behave inside this store compared to the neighboring stores like Trader Joe's or the Safeway. Today I noticed the cart stand outside of Apna Bazaar in Sammamish completely empty and all the carts were left just haywire around the walk way and around the parked cars. Get a grip my fellow desis.. this is embarrassing.. learn to pick up after yourselves. I've also seen complete meltdowns by desi customers to the low paid cashier staff. There was this one particular person who got verbally abusive to the staff and did not have any decency to verbalize what he was upset about. He called the cashier lady stupid and the store some more cuss words. Geez, this guy's entitlement was beyond my comprehension. Fellow desimen and women, lend me a ear, please put some work in your shopping etiquettes. I'm sure you all have left India behind in search of greener pastures. Apna Bazar Sammamish has unethical practices and a terrible staff: I bought a packet of Parle G from this store that I just grabbed and added to my cart. When I came home I found the packet was sealed with a tape and the plastic covering of the biscuits inside was broken. We decided to return the packet not much concern for the money but to highlight they are knowingly selling defective merchandise. When my wife tried to return the product with the receipt, the lady at the counter was very rude to her. She counter questioned my wife, "what Apna Bazar store did you buy, how long ago, why have you not checked the packet before buying and then added they don't accept returns due to COVID-19, and she also said why dont you put it in your dustbin". Well, the receipt has all the info she needed and to her questions and to the question- why we had not checked the packet before buying - "we trust the store we buy from to sell us non-defective, unadulterated and authentic merchandise!!" Yes, I'm reacting and being judgemental and hope the rest of the staff is not like this lady and that the store owner will take note of this incident and appropriate action. read more

I could have sworn I wrote a review for this! I gave it four stars because the location rocks for me. Location, location, location. Otherwise, it is a pretty typical Indian grocery store. There are ones that are a lot bigger with more selection in Bellevue. Still, you can find a decent selection of Indian spices and products here, including some produce. We were able to pick up some very nice okra the last time we went and a spicy cereal snack that was made locally (Sammamish of all places!). The snack was delicious and much healthier than the vast majority of Indian snack mixes. We'll be going back to buy more varieties of those as I doubt they can be found anywhere else. I would agree that the prices are jacked up a little, but that's what you get with businesses located on the plateau. It is so convenient to be able to grab some Indian items and then go to Safeway or Trader Joe's in the same parking lot. read more

They have all the Indian food/spices I need. Good alternative to the one in Bellevue. Positives: Friendly staff and Location. Negatives: Narrow aisles, lack of variety in biriyani powder brands. and owners, if you're listening, please add an automatic door. Unreliable. Very inconsistent experience every time you go there. For example, today they are were out of rotis (possibly the most common item folks go to an Indian store for). On top of that, their card readers (they have 3!) are not working when I visited today. In the year 2018 how do they expect to retain customers with this kind of service? They restock on Wednesdays, so time your vegetable purchases accordingly. Great for top-up grocery shopping, as they don't have the full range but sufficient to get you through the week. Prices are competitive, and the rest of their inventory has pretty much what you need. Well lit, and I've always had pleasant service. I feel for the previous reviewer who had a bad experience, and I'm quite sure that the 2 ladies who I interact with aren't the one as they are pleasant (although not super peppy), so hopefully the rude woman was fired. We just came out from buying vegetables. Management, please FIRE the woman on the first cash register. She was grabbing our food and slamming it and scanning it in a bad mood. She was making a face as she does not want to be there and is being forced to work. When I visit India sometimes I see this behavior due to the places being packed and it is so hot. But this USA and this should not happen. The place was not even packed and she was not rushed. Not sure why they do not train them with people skills. Vegetables buyers beware of this place. Intentionally they don't list the price of some vegetables and jackup the price in their system. Once they scan the items during checkout, you can't even return it. Today the price of the Kohlrabi is $4.99 per pound and lady in the counter argued that I can't return as it was scanned already. Man this place is amazing. The people who work here have amazing expertise on all the best fresh indian produce. When i go there they have such a warm friendly environment. As I am a busy working mom i really need quick meals like frozen roti and microwavable dhal, this place has all of it. I love that they have bournvita because that is very hard to find in these areas. It gives me nostalgia to when i was a little girl back home. They also have my favorite indian treat, Gulab jamun. It is so hard to find high quality Gulab jamun in this area but this store does not disappoint. I can't say enough about this place. Sometimes I just stay in the store for hours shopping and watching the bollywood movie on the tv. If their was no apna bazar my life would not be the same. Their covid restrictions are very good mask wearing and good cleanliness, i feel more safe shopping here than anywhere else. read more

Horrible customer service. I placed an order for a home delivery many days ago. They cancel the order on the day of delivery via an email. I call to find out why and they tell me that they don't have all the items in the order. Why couldn't they deliver what they have? Because it wasn't adding up to $30. It wasn't my mistake that their inventory was low and they couldn't honor by delivering what they have in stock. I'm actually surprised this Indian store only has three stars. For that reason, I was skeptical about stopping in, and was under the impression it was a run-down joint. Imagine how pleasantly surprised I was to find the complete opposite! It was on the small side, but had exactly what we needed so that we wouldn't have to drive all the way to Bellevue. Glad we found this place. Of course, the woman behind the register could be a bit more pleasant and smile once in a while. read more

First and foremost getting in and out of the store with a grocery cart is a pain. One of the workers there is always very rude to customers. I have never had pleasant experience shopping here. The cashier and everyone else feels they are doing a favor on us. No eye contact, greeting or talk. When we took something from the shelf another packet that was kept vertically slipped and slipped down on the shelf itself( so it became horizontal instead of vertical) The guy there called me back to tell me if that happens i should keep it back to how it was. The cashiers are unprofessional and rude (like Air India Service). They are inconsistent on the credit card limits. Sometime they will accept credit card for less than $5 and sometimes not. Their policy on not accepting credit cards for less than $5 shows how small minded they are. Found some of the veggies are rotten and still sitting on the shelves. When cashiers were notified they denied it being. The sign says no curry leaves but they are available - the cashier says they leave it permanently there since sometimes they are out of curry leaves. An unkempt, unprofessional store - they need to be kicked out of Sammamish - these people will bring the neighborhood down. read more

This a clean and neat store with a wide variety of Indian produce and groceries.The customer service however can be improved.The reason for my 2 star rating is their consistent inability to have ALL their products priced.I would say that about 75% of the items either have a sticker price or a shelf label.For the remainder items,the shopper is left to guess.A grocery budget does not work here.You have wait till your item is scanned at the cashier to decide if you want it or can afford it.I guess since this is a white collar neighborhood,the store owners think that the consumers are at their mercy. read more

I really liked this place and very convenient. I bought snacks in a packet (Jaffna Mixer) last week and when I tried it, it smelled bad & tasted horrible. Guessing that it's a spoiled one and threw it away. When I visited the store yesterday, I indicated the bad quality of the food they have it on the shelf, the attitude of the guy at the counter was so indifferent...kind of I don't care attitude. I was not even looking for refund but cared about no one else getting that stuff and having the bad experience from this good place. That guys attitude really sucked and may be this place going to go down like a place once ruled the Indian community (Regal) ...
