I frequently cook Indian dishes at home and am always trying a new recipe. I walked in the store only to discover an unusual foul odor. The store was dirty: floors, shelves, freezer and refrigerator cases, and even some of the product containers. Huge turn off to walk into a grocer's shop and see and smell so much dirt. While they offer a wide range of certain products, others which I typically purchase from Indian grocers were not available. The products which were available were highly over priced comparable to other grocers. I asked for the price for one product in particular, and the staff member told me, "The price IS listed on the shelf". Well if it was, it was not clear to me, and I could have missed it, but the rude comment was not necessary. I left without purchasing anything. I would not recommend this establishment nor will I ever venture here again.

We started with a sweet corn soup. The flavors that jump out from this soup are amazing! The herbs and spices are amazing and soooo flavorful! We ordered a chicken noodle dish. We were warned that the sechwan would be pretty spicy so we went with the noodles that weren't spicy. Not disappointed. Stirfried noodles either tandoori chicken and vegetables. Very fresh and crunchy. Yum. Next we went traditional with Chicken Tikka Masala because I love it so much! And another curry chicken dish that was slightly more spicy. Of course the garlic naan was in the menu to soak up all those yummy sauces! It's a bit of a drive from our house but we will be back soon!!!

This combination restaurant/boutique/spice vendor is located in Logan Street Market and is run by a pair of truly wonderful folks. I had the pleasure to meet one of the owners during my visit, and she took a great deal of time to explain the vision of Sri Mantra, as well as dish on the details of all the daily curry options and additional menu items. Her spouse is the chef, and it's clear they have a great partnership - when discussing the beet curry she confided she doesn't like beets, but LOVES the beet curry. Spoiler alert - it's fabulous. The menu changes from day to day depending on the whim of the chef, but I assure you - whatever is available will be delicious. All menu items are plant based, however they don't lead with that due to the desire to draw in all types of eaters. If you choose the curry route (which I recommend), you can select 3 or 4 different types on a bed of beautifully cooked white rice. They also offer a potato sandwich and a crunchwrap, both of which are on my short list. The day I visited I was fortunate enough to be able to try SIX curries: beet, watermelon rind, lentil, chickpea, kale and coconut, and soy curls and cabbage. Get them all. My favorites were the beet, lentil, and soy curls/cabbage, but you truly can't go wrong. Pricing is quite reasonable for the quality and quantity. Sri Mantra - thanks for making my day.

Fluffy and basically divine. East Louisville needed something on this side of town that has fresh pita bread, and I'm grateful. I buy my favorite Mediterranean items like dates, ful, dry chickpeas and lentils, and even halal marshmallows from here. My kids love the savory snacks and the selection of drinks like Palestine Soda, which you can find by the case. The unique items at the register like bracelets, chewing mastic, and specialty candies are fun to discover. They have food to order as well - their service is kind, considering there is not anywhere to really sit and wait. The cashier let me go to my car and brought out my order when it was done. We got to try falafel and their chicken shawarma, and fries. Love the falafels and highly recommend! I personally was not a fan of the mansaf as a preference. Keep an eye out on their dessert freezer if you also want to try some unique specialty desserts! Glad we have a new spot like Yahalla.
