I had a scary injury to my knee, and didn't know where to go. Some of my friends recommended Dr…read more Toole so I decided to go see him. I have never injured anything, so I was obviously very scared. Dr. Toole took his time and carefully examined my knee and told me that I needed an MRI. He was concerned that I had unfortunately torn my ACL. I was devastated, but Dr. Toole spent a lot of time explaining everything to me which comforted me. I got an MRI, and my ACL was indeed torn. Dr. Toole recommended surgery, and carefully went over all steps of the procedure as well as the rehab after the surgery. My surgery went great, and I am now 9 months out from my surgery and feel great. My knee is more stable than ever! I am so glad I decided to go see Dr. Toole, and would highly recommend him to everyone! Top notch doc!

After looking at the X-ray he said it was nothing. Told me to come back after one week I came back and the swelling was just as bad and painful. He said it would be OK in another two weeks and not to worry about it, and sent me home saying it was nothing. After another week and a half it was still as painful and swollen. We decided to go to another Doctor who checked me out and said right away something doesn't look right, sent me to do an MRI and told me that I have a torn ligament. I'm now in a knee brace for two months

There's no drama in my carpal tunnel story.  I'm a knitter - have been for 65 years - and when…read moreknitting started to hurt, I brought it to the attention of my primary care physician.  We already aware of the arthritis in my right hand - but the numbness and pain in the forearm were new.  She diagnosed carptal tunnel syndrome, and told me about a doctor performing a procedure in the office, under local anesthesia, to treat it.  Luckily, I was already a patient of the orthopedist; during the first appointment she confirmed the diagnosis and showed me the extent of the problem using ultrasound.  We discussed options: general anesthesia in a surgicenter or a procedure in the office.  I opted for the office procedure and made an appointment.  During the weeks leading up to the procedure, my hand would go numb at night, or develop shooting pain, waking me and making fitful sleep difficult.  Knitting ceased.  Holding a half gallon pitcher of water to care for plants became difficult.  Anyone who has had carpal tunnel would likely echo that and more.   The procedure itself was uneventful.  Two valium that morning to help me relax, and lidocaine for the local.  I felt no pain, just some pressure, and left the office just over an hour after arriving.   What I noticed immediately, I could move all 5 fingers without numbness or pain.  48 hours after the procedure, I have a square inch of surgistrips covering a very small incision, no stitches, some bruising of the palm and thumb, and slight pain.  Yes, there are exercises to do.   Physical activity in the gym is limited to back and legs until the tenderness is gone and the incision healed - but the numbness and associated discomfort are gone, and I am a very happy patient.  The Sonex procedure was very reasonably priced - granted, not covered by insurance yet, though I think it should be.  It was quick to schedule, painless to get through, and now in the recovery phase, I could not be happier.  There was no risk as with general anesthesia, it was more cost effective and time effective in the long run.   I strongly recommend Hand and Wrist Specialists of the Palm Beaches (Palm Springs, FL) for anyone who is experiencing carpal tunnel symptoms and is interested in the office procedure utilizing ultra sound and local anesthesia.
