This company overpromises, and does not deliver! Stay away from them if you are looking for prompt, professional services and excellent communications because they don't qualify! They only have one ground team and a million excuses as to their continued delays in doing the job promised. They are extremely disorganized. I called Apex Surveys on May 12th, 2023 to inquire about their services and based on what they said was their availability and their price I decided to hire them to do a plat for my property in North Arlington. They promise that they can do the work within two to three weeks, but this false advertising. Even if you cut them some slack since this is their busy season, they still run extremely late and have no idea when they can get around to doing the work for you plus there is no communication from them. You have to be the one calling or filling out their contact form because they will never call or email you to keep you up to date or even give you some idea as to where you are on their schedule because they don't know themselves! You are completely in the dark with these people as to when they will get around to doing the job! So unprofessional! As of June 22nd, 2023 I canceled the job with them based on the fact that they after six weeks they could not give me even an indication as to when they would get around to doing my plat, and also because they had not responded to the last two communications they sent me. I wasted six weeks of my time with this company, and I recommend that you don't waste your time with them either! read more

I contacted Apex Surveys to obtain a boundary plat for my townhome several years ago and paid $375. Recently, we were getting a permit to replace the deck and the county declined our permit due to the size discrepancy between the plat and the contractor's measurement. I contacted Apex about the issue and they sent the survey team out again to confirm or correct their measurement of the deck. I received a bill but no notice of whether the initial measurement or the re-measurement was correct. I called and was told their original measurement was wrong and they corrected it. I inquired about the reason for the charge if the initial measurement was wrong and they said they had to send a survey crew out again, so there is an hourly charge for that (no mention was made regarding a cost for this). Apex acknowledged the fact that their first measurement was wrong, but in order to get the corrected plat, I needed to pay an additional $300 (almost double the initial cost). I needed the plat for the project, so begrudgingly paid. I would understand a charge if their initial measurement was correct. The whole point of getting a survey of one's property is that it is considered the gold standard of what contractors, inspectors, and other professionals use for their work. My problem is not that a mistake was made, but that I had to pay EXTRA for their poor measurement skills. What incentive is there for a company to give the correct measurements if they can just charge you later for correcting their mistake?! I could have paid another survey company less than $675 to obtain a correct survey plat. Do not use them! read more

Too expensive and waiting time to receive a survey is too lengthy (weeks). Property surveys records of properties in cookie cutter residential subdivisions should be easy to access (via state and county as well as city public land records). Unfortunately it is a financial game where the consumer pays and pays. I live in one of the aforementioned neighborhoods and these guys wanted to charge above market. Tried to use this survey company about 5 years ago to survey our property for a pole barn. Their lines were wrong which caused legal troubles because they were more than 20 ft off on the rear property markers. Which screwed up property setbacks. They only have one crew and despite being told two weeks when I called for the appointment it took them almost 6 weeks to get here. And then they shut up when I wasn't home so I don't think they really understood what the scope of their job was supposed to be. There are no monuments anywhere on my road for them to use as guidance. They were using outdated GIS information from when my neighbor's property and mine were one property. We had legal trouble with the town and luckily after lawyers got involved the town gave us a variance so that we wouldn't have to tear our pole barn down. That's the whole reason we have the survey in the first place. Cost tons of money. Apex is libel for the screw up, And on top everything else they wanted me to pay them to come out to resurvey the property. I told them no thanks, You couldn't get it right the first time so there will be no second time. We are seeking legal advice at this time. read more

I was promised a survey within 2 weeks and when I followed up was unapologetically told it was now 3 weeks and one day. In addition, the explanation was that "they had some bigger jobs that had come up." Reliability and customer service very poor. read more

Apex surveyors did a Lot Stake recovered or replaced our property corners. They then delineated the property lines, including the boundary, using 8" metal spikes, which are set at ground level and marked with fluorescent flagging. They then placed 24" wooden stakes in the ground next to the metal spikes as a witness. We can clearly see exactly where there have been encroachments, either ours or our neighbors. Loved that Apex communicated extensively before, during and after the survey. They were on time, extremely professional throughout, and thorough. Great job! Great customer service! read more

Apex Surveyed and marked our boundaries very clearly. They discussed issues related to fence locations before setting pegs in areas that they could not get to. They reset missing metal posts at boundary corners, pegs along the boundaries and marker pegs in the yard should they be required to come out again. I would recommend Apex to anyone requiring boundary locations prior to constructing a fence. read more

Do Not Recommend. Hired Apex Surveys in August 2022 to do a new residential Platt diagram. Apex advised me that it would take 2-3 weeks to complete work. After 2 weeks no work was done. Called again after 3 weeks and no work was done. NOT ACCEPTABLE! Matt from Apex said they would do their best to get the work done in the next couple days or after Labor day. NOT ACCEPTABLE!! I recently hired Apex to survey and stake my property so I could put up a new fence. They had pretty good reviews on other sites and I like that it is a family business. The price was amazing and I didn't even look for a second quote. They were able to fit me in within a week and the crew was very professional. They took the time to explain the process and answer all my questions. It was a recently purchased property that still needs a lot of work, so I constantly have different companies doing work inside and out - I've had several horrible experiences. My experience with Apex has been the best I've had with any of the properties I have owned. I am now in my forever home and don't expect to need land surveyed ever again, but would hire Apex in a heartbeat if needed. I highly recommend them! read more

Look no further for your survey needs! they gave me a quote the same day I called and three days later came out and performed our boundary property survey. They came out and plotted our property line put new witness stakes down and iron rods ect.ect. They texted me when they were on the way and even were on time, which is rare for contractors these days. They did the job they said they would do and then some. DON'T CHOOSE APEX UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE BILLED FOR WORK THAT HAD NOT BEEN DONE. I choose Apex based on its reviews but was horribly disappointed in the service, professionalism, and most especially receiving an invoice for work that had not been done. After calling and receiving no response from the company, I had to find out from another surveyor about issues relating to the survey. When Apex survey did finally call me (several weeks later and after the closing), it was just about the invoice. When I spoke about my concerns, the owner? (Hagen) did nothing to address my concerns except offer excuses and talk about how good the ratings of his company are. He was extremely unprofessional and did nothing to address my issues. Details to follow: I was closing on a house and decided to choose Apex for the survey work rather than the survey company suggested by the title company (big mistake). When I called to arrange the survey and staking, I was given a date as to when this work was to be done. After about a week passed AFTER when the work was supposed to be done, I called Apex to find out why I had not received the survey and why the staking had not been done. I was told that they could not find the poles/metal needed on the corners to complete the survey. They said that would go out in a few days and "try" again. I called the realtor selling the house because the closing was now quickly approaching. The realtor called the survey company, which finally came out. The realtor apparently had to show the survey people how to do their job as the poles/metal were there the whole time despite what I had been told. (Keep in mind that the survey company did not call me to say that they could not complete the survey. I had to call them many days after the work was to be done.) The survey company finally found the poles that were there the whole time. I received a plat together with an invoice for the survey and a separate charge for "staked property lines." I was just about to pay the invoice when I decided to go over and look at the stakes. The reason I wanted to see the stakes first was because the survey appeared to show that my soon-to-be-fence was on the neighbor's property. Yet the survey stated that "all fences frame." (as a non-surveyor, I understood all fences frame to mean that the fences are in the property.) I arrive at the house and the stakes had not been put up. To repeat, I was invoiced for stakes when the staking had not been done. I called the survey company to find out about what I thought were discrepancies on the report and about the stakes. No response at all. The realtor was finally able to get in touch with Apex and was told that someone would eventually be out to do the staking (for which I had already been invoiced). Just days before the closing, the staking was finally done. In the meantime, I had to find out from another surveyor that the fence was in part on the neighbor's property. Not only did the survey company not respond to me, they never called me to tell me that there was an encroachment. I guess I was supposed to become an expert on reading surveys to figure that out for myself. Luckily, I was able to resolve the issue with a last minute negotiation and easement for the fence. No thanks at all to Apex. As a final insult, I was told when the invoice was sent (for work that had not been done) that I would receive "several copies" of the plat in the mail. I was on my way to an appointment at 8 am. It was 14 degrees outside. I pulled along side a car at the light at Heming and Braddock roads. A man was broken down at the light. After asking someone else driving a company trick to help him he was rejected. Even though I was by myself, I pulled along side and he said he needed a jump. He had his own cables. As I was pulling around to help, a guy in an Apex truck asked if he needed a jump. When I said yes, he said, 'I got it.' He proceeded to pull up, jump out, and give the guy a jump. So many people just drove around but Hagan Briggs helped without hesitation. That's the kind of guy I want to hire. I can only imagine that attitude spills over into everything he does. Apex surveys is the best land survey company in greater Washington DC area. I highly recommend Apex surveys. My property locates in very complicated area and very hard to survey. I called several survey companies before decided the Apex. Reason I choose the Apex was their staff always pick up the phone and answer my questions. The surveyor (Hagan) and his assistant came to my house on time. They were very professional and explained our property lines. Then, they sent me the plat. Their prices are very transparent and reasonable. After the survey I was able to contact him to ask questions. When I need the survey again, I will hire Apex surveys again. Excellent job! read more
