Dr. Grunch was chosen because she was the only one who'd suggested a disc replacement surgery wasn't just possible but was the best option based on age and quality of life factors. She was attentive and thorough. Following the procedure Dr. Grunch came into recovery to speak with us. She stated that based on what she found while doing surgery, and was not obvious in the MRI and x-rays, she could easily have gone the disc fusion path, however she kept in mind our discussions, consultations, and the desired quality of life which disc replacement provides better opportunity for better results. Because of this Dr. Grunch took the extra time and effort to stay the course and perform the Disc Replacement surgery. I've no doubt my family member, now 2 weeks post-op and doing quite well, will be much better off as a result. Dr. Grunch is an excellent surgeon and anyone needing back or neck surgery would be wise to make an appointment with her. It took a long time for us to get into see her however it was worth the wait. As an FYI, the two other surgeons we'd seen both recommended fusion and stated disc replacement was not an option...when apparently not only was it an option, but the best path. The sciatica pain I tolerated for over 15 years was totally taking over my entire life. I could stand nor walk without severe pain. I came to see Dr. Jolley. He took the time to explain to me what he could do to eradicate my condition and help alleviate the pain. I understood what had to be done, and agreed to the procedure. As soon as I was awake, I already noticed that the sciatic pain was gone, even though I was in pain from surgery. After 4 hours, I was sitting up. After 6 hours I was standing and walking. After 1 week, I was able to walk up to 1/4 mile, and after 2 weeks, I was up to a mile. NO Sciatic pain! About 3.5 months after surgery I was climbing a rock wall, and doing other activities that I wasn't able to do for many years. Dr. Jolley has a wonderful demeanor and bedside manner. I felt he really cared and his true desire was to help me. I was able to go hiking again, and go on two mission trips, no to mention...keep up with my grandchildren.

Anthony advised me of some exercises that can be done to help with my condition and referred me to the surgical portion of the practice as a formality. I came to this location to see Hayden Frolo, PA and as soon as she came into the exam room she advised me that I needed to have a very serious surgery. I was caught off guard because this was such a different stance than what I heard from Anthony. She went on to tell me that I could lose my bodily functions and could become paralyzed if I didn't have surgery and even told me that I should do it before my auto accident case was closed out because my personal insurance might not cover it. I was shocked and advised that I wanted a second opinion before making such a serious decision. I could tell Hayden wasn't happy but oh well. I went to another orthopedic practice that treats most of the major sports teams in Atlanta and was seen by a surgeon who looked at my records and examined me and stated that I didn't need surgery. He advised that exercised and possibly physical therapy would be the best next steps and that surgery would be a last resort and that I wasn't there yet. I would not recommend this practice at all. They are all about the money and not concerned about the patient. They are unethical!!

Today I show up for my appointment 15mins early like I was asked and receptionist told me they had me down for Thursday...I couldn't do Thursday so I was just going to cancel but she said they could see me today at 2:00 which I agreed. Since I had 30mins I wanted to grab lunch but she said she was able to move me up and could be seen soon so I sat and stayed. An hour later I still wasn't seen so I left and won't be back.

Unfortunately, they need to receive it by fax. Fair enough. I called Southeast Medical Group and spoke with Ky, who confirmed they fax'd the referral. I asked who the Harris office should call if they still could not locate the referral. Ky said she was the person. Called Harris office for an appointment for a second time. They still couldn't locate the referral, and would not call Ky. When I asked for the name of the person I was speaking with at the Harris office, she hung up!
