They certainly live up to the name! After having the Lexus dealership tell me I need new brakes as well as Firestone, who charged me $46 to diagnose the car and quoted about $750 for the FRONT ALONE (after quoting half that over the phone), I went to Good Honest Mechanic thinking they could do the actual work for a reasonable price. After reviewing my vehicle, it turned out all my brakes are fine and no work was needed. They explained to me how they are at 5 millimeter and at exactly what number/range they start to recommend addressing them. This all lined up with what I read online as far as best practice for car brakes! Rather than try to take advantage of my ignorance and get $700+ like the other businesses, they told me upfront what the deal was and I appreciate that. Debbie at the front desk was nice to chat with also and provided me with updates on my vehicle. Zack and his team saved me from spending unnecessary money when I could really afford to. I found the team to be personable and honest! After this first impression, I will certainly be back!

I'm extremely disappointed with the quality of work performed here…read more I paid for an emergency/parking brake repair, but when I recently used it on a hill and placed the truck in neutral, it immediately rolled backward -- the brake provides no holding force at all. This is a serious safety issue. I was also charged for a fuel pump replacement to fix a long startup issue. The problem was never resolved, and upon inspection, it does not appear that the fuel pump was replaced at all. I spent a significant amount of money trusting this shop to perform the repairs they invoiced. Unfortunately, the work either was not done correctly or not done at all. I would strongly recommend getting second opinions and verifying any work done here.

1/4/2026 Bad review on W & J Automotive in Clarksville, TN…read more If I could rate him negative stars, I would. I was moving my grand-daughter from the Fort Campbell Army Base back to Texas. (Nov 13-16, 2025). Her 2009 Mitsubishi Galant had a problem that had to be fixed before we could leave the area. Car was blowing only cold air, no heat at all. I look for mechanics in the area, since I was flying in from Dallas, TX, I was not familiar with local mechanics. I called W&J Automotive and explained the problem to Wesley Darnell, the mechanic. He stated he knew exactly what the problem was, so I hired him to fix it. As it turns out, he either did not know, or took complete advantage of the situation. Based on his recommendations because he couldn't solve the problem, we ended up replacing the thermostat first, that did not fix the problem, then the blower motor, didn't help either, then the heater core, the blender door, and some resistor. After all this work was done, the repairs only produced lukewarm air, no heat. Wesley stated that the heat problem would be fixed the longer the car was driven. We left the area on Nov 16, 2025 and up to now, Jan. 4th, 2026, the car is not blowing hot air. Bottomline, we paid him over $1500.00 and the problem never got fixed. I have left phone messages for him several times, and not one response. I am giving this review to warn other potential victims not to deal with business. Frank in Texas.

Being a one-man shop will mean that you will have to have an appointment to get it done but by my standard, I am more than willing to wait for an HONEST mechanic that will stand behind his work. Also, if he doesn't feel he can fix it, he will tell you upfront that you should try someone else. For instance, I had transmission problems and he was quick to tell me that he didn't work on transmissions rather than waste my time with diagnostics and then tell me to go somewhere else.
