But I was extremely impressed by Ken's talent to take such high quality professional photos and his rigorous work ethics working 6 hours straight with consistency. Ken is highly efficient and through and care for customer satisfaction. After the first one hour shooting session three months ago, I was very pleased with his work and did three more occasions of sports action photography since, totalling about 20 hours of photography. Ken made our talents comfortable in front of the camera with his positive and friendly spirit throughout the session. Business-wise, Ken is a great example of blending professional skills with his friendly and energetic personal charm. He and his wife work as a team well turning photos around quickly. Their passion and dedication surpassed my expectations. I highly recommend this studio.

I've shopped around a few korean studios for this, and Marais was the BEST! Pictures came out beautiful- this was my daughter's 5th photoshoot (with various photographers), and these were hands down the best pictures we got! We will be back for sure for future photo shoots and hanbok shopping!!!

We really…read moreliked his portfolio online, and knew after our first online conversation with him that he was the photographer we wanted to work with. He was really thoughtful in sending us sample galleries from weddings that were similar in venue and style to what we were planning. He was great at communicating about details prior to the wedding, even scouting out potential alternate locations when the forecast showed a chance of rain. On the day itself, James was wonderful. He provided just the right amount of direction while putting everyone at ease and getting a great array of candid shots and special moments. I still don't know how he manages to get so many different angles and shots by himself during the ceremony. We also love the video slideshow he did with the photos and speeches. The stunning photos from our wedding capture moments we'll cherish forever and we can't thank James enough and recommend him more highly!

Abram's photo-journalistic style makes him almost invisible during the actual event, and yet, he seemed to get shots of every part of the day we wanted. He has a quick trigger, and an uncanny eye for those candid moments you'll want to remember. The custom album he created for us is awesome, and all of this for an incredibly reasonable price. Abram is new to the DC area, so I would suggest booking him now, before he really blows up.

In addition to all the photos I requested, he also caught amazing details that I would have never thought to include. Plus, he communicated directly with and worked alongside our primary photographer with ease and professionalism. I know she's considered working with him on additional events as she was impressed with his work. We also worked with him on our photo books, which we gave as a gift to our parents this Christmas. The result was absolutely stunning and we'd recommend him without hesitation.

More of an old fashioned get to know you process with phone calls. We spoke with Kempton for all of that. He was attentive and helpful with juggling our schedules. Brett worked so well with our kids. He is perceptive and masterful. Our session was chaotic but he didn't miss a beat. The unveiling was super cool. We walked into the studio to see our painting on the easel in all of its glory. I'm not usually a crier but it really got me. This portrait will always hold a special place in our family.

I had the same experience with this business as many others who are commenting that when you have a…read morevoucher you paid for as part of a charity auction, you aren't a priority. I paid for a voucher worth 2k at a recent charity event. When I called to schedule, the woman I spoke with (I assume she is the office manager) could not have been ruder. When I mentioned what I was looking for - a portrait of our family dog, she told me they don't do pet portraits. She then told me they used to do animals, but no longer do them. Below is dog portrait on the Lubin site, which I exhaustively looked through prior to buying the voucher at auction. I then asked her if she could show me where the policy was listed online and she got irritated and said, "if you can't find it, I don't know what to tell you." Following that comment, I asked to speak to one of the artists to see if they would make an exception and she offered to connect me with him in mid-July, which at the time was three months away. I was literally taken aback by the treatment and that she would not work to find 10 minutes for a call with Mr. Lubin so that I could understand a bit more about the policy, which is nowhere to be found online. When I asked her why they changed the policy, (which again is not on their website) she said she didn't know. I also have to laugh because there are many reviews on here and on Google about the rude staff - one customer below described her poor experience, and she actually had portraits of her dogs done. I finally just chalked the whole experience up to making a very nice donation to the charity but have encouraged them to not work with Lubin again. If this business does not want to talk to customers who have vouchers with respect, then they should not donate vouchers to local charities. Additionally, they really need to make their policies clear and not false advertise. Very poor experience. Do not recommend.

My wife and I looked long and hard before confirming on a photographer for our wedding. Something…read moreabout Modern Frames really appealed to us. They just weren't like the other wedding photographers out there! Eric the owner from Modern Frames (such a cool guy) was so easy to work with! Unfortunately, he wasn't available for our wedding date but had a colleague he strongly recommended. We trusted him to set us up with Alex. Even though Alex would be shooting our wedding, Eric would still do the editing portion. So we agreed! We set up a few meetings with both Eric and Alex, and both are such laid back, chill and easy to work with guys. We immediately felt comfortable with them. The wedding day was great. It ended up being extra hot, humid and darker than the usual Spring day we've had in DC. But Alex made it work. He also kept a lot of us calm and comfortable during all the shoots. Alex stayed almost the entire day, even though the agreement was that he could leave earlier. But you could tell he really wanted to capture everything perfectly. All the wedding guests loved him as well! In the end, the photos came out great. BOTH Eric and Alex are very creative and truly skilled artists! We've decided we would continue to use Modern Frames in the future for any other needs we run into! STRONGLY recommend them!!!

Let me tell you, hiring them was one of the best decisions we made, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Communication/Responsiveness: Eric wrote back to our initial email *ten minutes* after we sent it (!), confirming he and Alisa were free on our date and suggesting we schedule a Skype meeting. They were super responsive to all of our questions and concerns. They got our engagement photos back to us in less than 2 weeks, and our wedding photos in 3 weeks. Personality: Eric and Alisa are really nice people and a ton of fun to be around! They made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, and they were down for all of my crazy requests (like a giant group shot with every guest at the wedding). The Photos: SO GOOD. We wanted pictures that would capture the feel of the day, rather than looking like a magazine shoot, and that's exactly what we got. My aunt and uncle dancing, grinning ear to ear. My friend's two-year-old stealing the show in his tiny bow tie and suspenders. Us attempting to cut the cake and getting the knife stuck. All of the people we love in one place, smiling, dancing, talking, and having a great time - they captured it perfectly. (We also did formal portraits and family group shots, which turned out great as well.) I'm so glad we chose Eric and Alisa - the process of working with them was great, and the results were phenomenal. I highly recommend them.

Asa was professional and precise from start to finish! He me us via virtual chat (since we are still in a pandemic) and wanted to just break the ice and go over the process and packages that we would like for our wedding. Everything was decently priced and was explained in detail by Asa. On our wedding day we went for the 2nd photographer and I am glad that we did because we wanted to capture the moments for my wife just as much as the moments of myself leading up to the ceremony. We had plenty of shots to choose from and on top of that Asa created a photo album for us with selected shots that just made you feel like you were in a movie! The pics were just so crisp and the resolution of the pictures were awesome. My wife was very please with the results and we will definitely use Asa for future events! I just want to say that Asa was an AMAZING photographer for my wedding and provided great pictures and shots for us to remember the big day.

I initially found Sam while browsing social media for potential wedding photographers about a year…read morebefore our wedding. I'm personally not a fan of the stereotypical glammed out wedding photos where a lot of hair/makeup/etc is required, and was looking for someone who could take more artistic, unique photos for us. So glad we found Sam, his work caught my eye from the start and as he continued to work with us through engagement photos and then the big day, it became super clear that he is an experienced professional and was the perfect fit for us! Neither my husband (still weird to say haha) nor I are easily relaxed in front of a camera, so it was pretty nerve wracking for us to even think about getting professional photos taken where we didn't look like hot messes. However Sam's super calm demeanor and clear direction made everything feel so easy. The day of, we had about 40 people for photos in a variety of spaces at the St. George Botanical Gardens in the US Virgin Islands, and Sam did an amazing job at crowd control. There was no sense of anxiety or rushing even though it's so hard to direct such a wandering large group of people. He was also totally open to the ridiculous poses we wanted to do for fun. We never felt any pressure to stand in or pose in places that felt difficult or unnatural for us. I also really appreciated his attention to detail during the shot setups, I'm sure something he's developed into second-hand nature through his career thus far. Sunglasses and purses were all appropriately out of view, boutonnieres and were perfectly in place with his direction, and we got some crazy artistic shots of us utilizing the colors and shapes and textures around us so well. Ultimately, it was his unique techniques that resulted in absolutely stunning and mind-blowing photos that are so cool to have for the rest of our lives. While Sam's work speaks for itself, we really had such an enjoyable experience having such a wonderful photographer who wasn't too intrusive but firm enough with herding our crazy friends into place to get the best shots. Without us even really noticing his whereabouts throughout the day, he gave us over 1000 absolutely fantastic photos from our wedding day and he worked solo with minimal equipment - really goes to show how his work is seated in pure skill. Several of our friends are already expressing interest in hiring him for their weddings in the future, and I'm also thinking about what future events we could have him join us for again.
